Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 321: Chapter 266: The Possibility of Parasite Rebellion (4000 words!)

He was somewhat worried about Lou Fei’Er’s transformation.

According to the information he had obtained, only creatures with the bloodline of giant beasts could recover their consciousness in the case of Blood Pattern mutation. From this perspective, Lou Fei’Er indeed lost her own will during her rampage.

Her will was only restored under Xu Xin’s attack and amid intense pain.

Now, her Power of Blood Patterns has become stronger. In the future, if she activates the power, it is uncertain whether she can maintain her own consciousness. If she cannot maintain her will, it’s also uncertain if she would still listen to me, her contract master.

”From now on, unless your life is truly endangered, do not use that Blood Pattern power,” Xu Xin said to Lou Fei’Er.

”I know that without you telling me,” Lou Fei’Er, whose collar had been pulled up by Li Wenxi, turned her head toward Xu Xin, saying, ”After using it, I become weak for twenty-four hours. The cost is too great, and I absolutely wouldn’t use it unless I’m dead and it triggers automatically.”

”But this ability is still very strong,” Li Wenxi remarked, ”Resurrection, unbelievable, right? Just being weak for twenty-four hours is nothing. If there were more pills, I would want to take one too. It’s simply a life-saving miracle drug.”

Who wouldn’t agree?

Xu Xin thought so too. As long as one doesn’t die, the mutant bloodline wouldn’t be activated; it requires voluntary activation or automatic triggering at the brink of death and recovers all injuries.

If one is dead, resurrecting is good enough; who would care about becoming a mutant?

Moreover, after the Blood Pattern mutation, lifespan becomes very long, as seen with Mimi. Lou Fei’Er now is likely to be a long-lived species.

Although there’s the risk of becoming a lackey of the Blood Pattern Race, it’s still better than dying outright. Not dying means there’s a chance for a comeback; dying means nothing at all, so from any standpoint, this pill’s advantages outweigh its disadvantages.

”Mmm...” After eating and drinking, Keke climbed into Xu Xin’s arms.

”Alright, now that we’ve eaten and drunk, it’s time to talk business.” Xu Xin stroked Keke’s fur, his expression becoming serious, ”Regarding Li Wenxi’s treehouse to the south, Ma Hongwei’s issue.”

”Ma Hongwei...” Li Wenxi glanced at Xu Xin, her eyes revealing some concern.

They killed the other’s brother. If the party knew about this matter, even surrendering wouldn’t eliminate a potential hidden danger.

”What is there to discuss? At that time, just watch me perform.” Lou Fei’Er wasn’t worried at all, casually munching on an apple and saying nonchalantly, ”I will definitely make him drop his guard, and then you can handle him easily... No need for you to act, I can subdue him myself.”

Lou Fei’Er’s physical prowess, enhanced by Blood Patterns, surpassed that of typical survivors, especially in agility that even Xu Xin envied. Thus, dealing with Ma Hongwei wouldn’t be a problem for her.

Xu Xin shook his head, voicing his concern, ”Such strong individuals might not be so easy to subdue. Even forcing him to come over using his life as leverage might still pose a hidden danger.”

”What’s the big deal? If he really comes over, he wouldn’t have much of a choice!” Lou Fei’Er remained nonchalant, more confident than Xu Xin himself, saying even she was captured with no temper and dared not resist, so what was Ma Hongwei? ”His treehouse is in your hands, can he rebel? Not to mention whether he could hurt you in your territory; even if he managed to kill you, your main treehouse would die, and his parasitic treehouse would follow suit, leaving him blind without a treehouse, wouldn’t he?”

”There’s always a way around issues; the methods of betrayal exist.” Xu Xin sighed, pondering for days about whether people living in parasitic treehouses could betray.

His answer was yes.

Though survivors who lose their treehouses can’t survive in this world, they don’t die immediately but have a twenty-four-hour grace period.

If one can obtain another treehouse within twenty-four hours, there won’t be any problem.

Regaining a treehouse naturally requires relying on others, moving into other survivors’ protection zones that already have parasitic treehouses.

For capable individuals, this isn’t difficult.

Empty parasitic treehouses will certainly become abundant; after all, the one Lou Fei’Er lives in now is such a treehouse. Many survivors in this world prefer trees over people. Later, empty parasitic treehouses will likely multiply.

Thus, if a parasite finds a suitable host, it’s possible to betray other regions if the host provides the parasitic treehouse.

For a talent like Ma Hongwei, betrayal would be easier since no one would refuse his abilities.

Therefore, even if Xu Xin cuts down Ma Hongwei’s treehouse, forcing him to come over, betrayal remains a possibility.

But killing him is not acceptable for Xu Xin; his abilities are too valuable, significantly enhancing the defense of the treehouse, and killing him would be too wasteful.

What to do?

He pondered deeply, sharing his thoughts with the two women.

Lou Fei’Er signed a contract with him, her location would always display on his map, coupled with his hearing picking up every rustle around her, making betrayal unlikely. So telling her was acceptable.

”Wow, you’ve thought so much! But it does seem to be the case...” Li Wenxi became even more worried, ”What should we do?”
