Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 323: Chapter 267: Production of the Mutated Pill, Departure!

Xu Xin asked Lou Fei’Er to make a pill first to see if it could really be done, then Ma Hongwei’s matter wouldn’t be much of a problem.

”I told you, I need materials...” Lou Fei’Er didn’t really want to pay attention to Xu Xin, but the contract and increased affinity left her no choice but to respond, ”I need the flesh of mid-level mutated creatures. I don’t even know what kind exactly, but as long as you can find it, I can make it for you.”

”Flesh of mid-level mutated creatures?” Li Wenxi’s eyes lit up and she looked at Xu Xin, ”You seem to have some, don’t you? And quite a lot, right?”

”Huh?” Lou Fei’Er widened her eyes, ”You really have it? How come you have everything?”

”Of course I have it.” Xu Xin’s lips curled into a slight smile, this was really something gained effortlessly.

The meat of mid-level mutated creatures, also known as [polluted mutant beast meat], he had plenty.

There is Blood Pattern Rabbit, Blood Patterned Cat, and that Blood-striped Marlin, especially the Blood-striped Marlin, a good few hundred kilograms of meat.

Previously, he only used it to create a few bottles of mutation potions for the Silver King, and hadn’t used it since.

This kind of meat doesn’t spoil and has been stored in his backpack beside the [Mutant Potion Synthesis Station] in his workshop.

”Follow me.” Xu Xin led Lou Fei’Er and Li Wenxi to his second-floor workshop.

”You have so many workstations...” Lou Fei’Er was once again taken aback, yesterday she only toured the alchemy room and didn’t enter this workshop, now seeing it was far better than hers!

”Right, hehe, see this basic electronics station, it was made with materials I gave him!” Li Wenxi tapped on the workbench somewhat proudly.

”Electronics?!” Lou Fei’Er exclaimed again, ”You...can make electronics now? But why haven’t I seen any here?”

”There’s not enough material, can’t make them yet.”

Xu Xin thought of the green metal ore at the lake’s heart, if it really is copper ore, then electronics can be made.

Although the lightning rod on his rooftop no longer shines, it occasionally makes a buzzing sound, obviously, there’s still plenty of electricity.

Once Ma Hongwei’s matter is resolved, he planned to check the lake, but of course, taking Keke along, if Keke sensed danger in the lake, he wouldn’t venture down.

Life is important, he didn’t want to confront the Lake Giant Python head-on.

Xu Xin took the polluted mutant beast meat out of his backpack, under his discerning ability, the beast meat emitted a gray-black light.

[Polluted mutant wild rabbit meat (Gray): Highly toxic, fatally attractive to beasts, great chance to die immediately upon consumption and the corpse becomes unusable, very small chance of inducing mutation.]

He handed a piece to Lou Fei’Er: ”This is the mid-level mutated creature’s flesh you mentioned.”

Lou Fei’Er accepted it, her gaze slightly dazed: ”Unexpectedly, the flesh of low-level mutated creatures smelled so good, yet mid-level mutated creature meat is toxic, and...”

”You don’t want to eat it, do you?” Li Wenxi saw Lou Fei’Er’s expression was a bit off and quickly waved her hand in front of her, asking.

”I kinda do want...” Lou Fei’Er raised her hand to wipe the corner of her mouth; she was almost drooling, ”Even thinking about eating it raw right now...”

Seeing Lou Fei’Er’s reaction, Xu Xin recalled exploring in the underground passage of the dungeon, the bat swarms clustering on top.

He once thought of using this meat to attract and poison them. However, they wouldn’t die from it, they swarmed and divided the meat among themselves, continuing to attack him.

Maybe Lou Fei’Er would be similar. She might not die from eating this meat.

”Don’t actually eat it, there’s a high chance you’ll die immediately!” Li Wenxi saw Lou Fei’Er’s head had already lowered, nearly biting into it, hastily snatching the chunk of rabbit meat from her.

”Ah...” Having the meat taken away snapped Lou Fei’Er into reality, suddenly feeling a bit frightened, ”Oh my god, I...I wanted to eat raw meat! Am I regressing to being a savage!”

”...You’re a mutated creature now, probably won’t die from it.”

”Huh?” Lou Fei’Er’s eyes brightened instantly, ”I can really eat it? Give me a bite; I’m craving it!”

Li Wenxi immediately tucked the meat behind her, lamenting, ”This is raw meat, come to your senses!”

”Of course not, don’t even think about it, this meat is best used for refining into potions and pills, letting you eat it is too wasteful.” Xu Xin promptly denied.

”...Alright then.” Naturally, Lou Fei’Er couldn’t go against Xu Xin’s intentions, pouting, swallowing another mouthful of saliva, before stepping to the synthesis station.

”What are you making?” Xu Xin saw Lou Fei’Er operating his synthesis station and asked.

”Creating that special workbench, without it I can’t make the pills.” Lou Fei’Er continued operating, turning to Li Wenxi, ”Wenxi, did you bring iron blocks? Green grade, I need fifty.”

”Green-grade iron blocks? I have plenty.” Li Wenxi lifted her backpack, placing a pile of green-grade iron blocks on the ground.

”A special workbench?” Xu Xin’s eyes twitched slightly, ”Could you...also have some special abilities?”

Lou Fei’Er’s treehouse was positioned between Ji Chaoyang’s and Xu Xin’s, if this area was truly unique, then she might really possess some special ability.

”Special ability? Like your inherent abilities? I don’t have any, but...” Lou Fei’Er pressed craft.

The iron blocks on the ground disappeared, accompanied by a glow and a loud bang, an iron synthesis station emerged similar to Xu Xin’s [Mutant Potion Synthesis Station].

”But, I acquired this ability from the dungeon; it’s a contract called [Mutant Human Manufacturer Contract].” Lou Fei’Er pointed to the synthesis station, ”The pills were discovered with the contract.”

”Mutant Human Manufacturer?” Li Wenxi exclaimed, ”That name sounds kind of...terrifying, like a mad scientist creating clones! And it’s actually a profession?”

Xu Xin wasn’t all that surprised.

She found the contract to create mutant pills in the dungeon, and the name sounded like a profession’s contract.

Similar to how he acquired his artist ability through a contract, his artist talent was obtained that way.

Xu Xin reached out to touch this workstation.

[Mutation Pill Production Station: Can synthesize pills that allow humans to possess mutant creature abilities while retaining self-awareness.]

The introduction was simple, but explained clearly.

Xu Xin clicked on the list, he could operate it since this was his treehouse. But the list was empty, indicating he couldn’t use this station to produce pills; it had to be operated by Lou Fei’Er personally.

”How come I didn’t see this production station in your treehouse?” He turned to ask Lou Fei’Er.

”Come on, fifty green-grade iron blocks, where would I get that much iron at that time?” Lou Fei’Er was speechless.

Oh right, he recalled that back then, she didn’t even have weapons, only blue-grade stone tools and was fully clad in blue-grade leather armor, completely unrelated to iron.

Lou Fei’Er took the contaminated meat from Li Wenxi’s hand, swallowed hard, resisting the urge to eat, and began operating the mutation pill production station.

A burst of light flashed, and two red pills appeared in her hand.

”Here you go.” Lou Fei’Er very considerately handed both pills to Xu Xin.

Xu Xin immediately received a notification.

[Mutation Pill (Blue): Enhances a survivor’s ability in one aspect, allowing the survivor to possess latent mutation power with a small pill. After consumption, the survivor can control whether to activate the mutation power.]

It also described the pill function below. The activation of mutation power can provide an hour of super strength, but after the duration, there will be a 24-hour weakness period. Once the power is activated, irreversible mutation occurs, becoming a Blood Pattern mutated organism.

”Not bad.” Xu Xin put away the two pills, ”Besides these pills, can you make anything else?”

A profession shouldn’t be limited to making just this kind of pill, right?

”Indeed, that’s all there is. The list only has this one, you saw it while I was operating it, right?” Lou Fei’Er spread her hands.

Indeed, they could see the production list while she was operating the station, and it only had this one.

Maybe, there will be new blueprints in the future.

”Alright. Now there’s no worry, we can go find Ma Hongwei. Have you contacted him?”

”Yes, contacted him yesterday. Told him we’d go see him together this morning.” Lou Fei’Er nodded.

”Alright then, contact him again now and tell him we’re almost there.”

”Okay.”

Lou Fei’Er immediately swiped her watch to initiate a voice call with Ma Hongwei.

”Are you sure Ma Hongwei really believes what you said?” Li Wenxi was still a bit worried, grabbing Xu Xin’s arm, ”His abilities, they’re strong, right? If he tries something outside your treehouse...”

”Fortune favors the bold, and there shouldn’t be any problems. Shh— don’t speak, it’s connected.”

”Oh oh oh...”

Lou Fei’Er had already connected.

”Lou Fei’Er? Are you guys coming over today?” Ma Hongwei’s voice, slightly lazy, seemed like he just woke up.

”That’s right, we’re almost there now, should arrive within half an hour.”

”Wow, you’re up so early?” The voice was instantly alert, ”Is Brother Gu by your side?”

”I’m here, Brother Ma, we’re about to come over, you shouldn’t go out now. We’ll discuss it and try to take that treehouse north of you today.” Xu Xin said into Lou Fei’Er’s watch.

”No problem! I haven’t gone out these past two days, just waiting for you guys. That woman to the north is too terrifying, I don’t dare go out, you guys hurry over!” Ma Hongwei’s tone was full of helplessness.

Li Wenxi widened her eyes, pointing at herself, as if saying, I’m scary? Me? Scary?

”...Hope you’ll be useful in today’s plan.” Lou Fei’Er’s voice was somewhat cold, with a hint of impatience, ”Then the treehouse is mine, the woman is yours, don’t have other ill thoughts.”

Li Wenxi was shocked again, the woman is his? What does this mean? How did it involve her?

Xu Xin almost laughed, quickly covering his mouth.

”Hey, I get it, I get it. I’m not interested in that parasitic treehouse, Brother Gu surely isn’t interested in other women besides you either, don’t threaten me, this is called win-win cooperation!”

”He dare be interested?” Lou Fei’Er’s voice turned cold, but her mouth couldn’t help but curl up, jokingly looking at Xu Xin.

”...Don’t dare, don’t dare.” Xu Xin’s eye twitched slightly.

Then he felt a slight pain on the back of his hand; it turned out Li Wenxi pinched him lightly, her expression a bit discontent, with her mouth looking like it might pout.

Xu Xin squeezed Li Wenxi’s hand.

”Sigh, Brother Gu you... are really blessed! Well, I’ll be here waiting for your arrival!”

Hanging up the call, Lou Fei’Er couldn’t help but want to laugh, but seeing Li Wenxi’s somewhat discontented expression, she instantly shut up.

Uh-oh, seems a bit overboard...

Teasing someone else’s boyfriend in front of others indeed seems a bit too much...

But Li Wenxi didn’t really mind, she was just slightly uncomfortable, and knew it was all an act, now back to normal: ”Done talking? Then let’s set off quickly, to my place!”
