Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 332: Chapter 272: The Collapse of the 3-Story Treehouse

Xu Xin rummaged through the stuff on the third floor once more, but didn’t find anything novel.

On the ground was a pile of tools, some for cutting, some for polishing. Xu Xin didn’t understand these things, but since they were tools, he packed them along with the half-finished crossbow into his backpack.

This crossbow seemed nearly complete. Once he contracted Ma Hongwei, he could have him finish it, and perhaps obtain another fine weapon.

After packing everything away, the entire third floor was left with nothing but wooden pieces and debris, all green-level, just some worthless discarded resources.

Xu Xin went down to the second floor. Lou Fei’Er had already stored all the decorations from the treehouse into her backpack,

”Are there any special decorations?” Xu Xin asked.

”No, they’re all quite ordinary, green-grade crystals of various colors, redwood, these were all picked up during the rainy season.” Lou Fei’Er took out a few trinkets to show Xu Xin, ”The rest are small decorations bought from the points shop.”

Everyone’s points shop sells the same decorations, so even if you steal decorations others bought from the shop, they aren’t of much use and can only be placed in a parasitic tree house.

”Just gather them up for him, put them in his tree house later.” Xu Xin nodded.

Since he had the special feature of an [External Weapon Research Room], he needed decorations to boost it. Although he wasn’t sure what boosting points added to this research room were good for.

Increase the success rate of research?

Probably, Qi Xuefei also said her pharmaceutical research could fail.

Xu Xin headed to the first floor.

Keke had been waiting for him on the first floor for a while. Upon seeing him, it chirped and scratched at the treehouse floor.

It was standing at the treehouse’s core, which was where the tree trunk was located.

It wanted Xu Xin to break open the treehouse floor so it could go inside and retrieve the treehouse core.

But...

This treehouse’s first floor was also seven or eight meters high. Once the core was removed and the treehouse died, how would they leave?

Collapse with the treehouse?

Or jump out the window. But that’s quite a height...

It shouldn’t be much of a problem, seven or eight meters is about the height of a three-story building. As long as he rolls to cushion the fall, he wouldn’t get hurt. With his current physical condition, rolling upon landing to absorb the impact would be no problem at all.

But that unconscious guy on the second floor...

Xu Xin returned to the second floor and told Silver King and Mimi to protect Ma Hongwei when the treehouse collapses, making sure he doesn’t die.

Upon hearing this, Mimi immediately used her paw to hoist the unconscious Ma Hongwei onto Silver King’s back.

”Ow?” Silver King was stunned for a second, then shook its body, making Ma Hongwei lie more securely.

Hmm... that works too.

Xu Xin went back down to the first floor of the treehouse.

”Are we retrieving the treehouse core now?” Lou Fei’Er had been waiting on the first floor, having a staring contest with Keke. Seeing Xu Xin return, she was a bit excited, as she had never seen the scene of retrieving a treehouse core before.

Honestly, Xu Xin was slightly looking forward to it too.

Because this treehouse was not one of those green-level treehouses he had acquired before, but a blue-level treehouse!

A more advanced treehouse, he had not yet obtained a core from a blue-level treehouse!

He wondered what function this blue-level treehouse core would have, could it provide materials of a level higher than purple?

No, probably not, even if it could, Xu Xin and his group would not be able to use them yet. After all, to craft weapons and armor using materials of a higher level than purple, you would need basic materials of purple, and they didn’t have that many!

No point in guessing, better just hack it open and see.

Xu Xin took out his blue-grade iron axe, and Keke jumped behind him.

He swung his axe, a ”crack” sounded as it struck the center of the treehouse floor.

The floor immediately cracked, but the extent was much less than when Xu Xin hacked the floor of a green-grade treehouse. Compared to a green-grade treehouse, a blue-grade treehouse was stronger in every aspect.

Xu Xin continued chopping. What took merely two axe strikes to smash through before, now took over a dozen to completely break, revealing the hollow inside the tree trunk below.

The trunk of the blue-grade treehouse was also much thicker than that of a green-grade one, and the hollow space inside was significantly larger.

Xu Xin looked inside and saw at the bottom, buried in the dirt, a treasure pearl emitting a glowing white light, half-exposed.

The glowing white light was significantly brighter than that of a green-grade treehouse’s core.

This glow was strikingly similar to the glow emitted by the giant’s energy core fragment in his hand...

Could there really be a connection between the two?

But the treehouse seed was given to him by that mysterious voice; according to his guess, that mysterious voice belonged to the Blood Pattern Race, currently in control of this world, the so-called outsiders, not the lineage of giant beasts.

What secret lies within this?

Forget it, it’s pointless to think about it now.

”Keke, go retrieve that core.” Xu Xin instructed.

”Chirp!”

Keke had been itching to jump in. Hearing Xu Xin, it immediately darted inside.

”Hmm...? So this is how the core is acquired...” Lou Fei’Er’s eyes slightly shifted as if pondering something.

”Once the core is retrieved, the treehouse will immediately fall apart. Remember to jump out and don’t get buried.” Xu Xin warned.
