Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 990: Chapter 786: Zholar Join the Battle

Hill couldn’t help but move a bit, trying to find a better vantage point: the battlefield seemed close to the limit dealing with that golem, and those undead seemed intent on forcing the golem into the Zholar’s ranks.

It seems they are aware that the golems here in Toril will self-destruct.

Hill hadn’t seen what a Disease Stone Golem’s self-destruction would look like... but he’d seen the iron type before when the undead occasionally appeared in the pirates’ fights.

But the ones in the pirates’ hands were even rusted... without inscribed waterproof spells, how could they inscribe more complex explosive arrays, so even if they explode it wouldn’t be of any use... the shields raised by those attacking undead knights against the golems didn’t even sway.

If it were Hill’s own iron golems, they’d at least take a number of knights’ lives and those magical-based professions behind them who didn’t even attempt to dodge.

If Hill weren’t uninterested in such low-level golems and only made a few for practice, he would have stationed these hulking figures as patrol guards in Agleya City... now those iron golems are kept at the city warehouse, their main task is helping Lynn open and close the warehouse doors... Hill sticking to his usual style, made the warehouse doors far too thick.

Hill’s protective measures for the warehouse are, of course, very comprehensive, with countless added magic arrays... but he remains wary of Toril World, who knows if one day all the magic arrays will crumble?

At that time, if only the Tower Spirit could control the warehouse doors... if they couldn’t open, it would be fine, but what if the doors swung wide open?

Hill doesn’t think he’s overthinking... if AO decided to change the World Rules one day, he wouldn’t find it surprising, otherwise, there wouldn’t be another dimension hiding the Aber-Toril World.

At first, the Zholar did not react to what the undead intended... they would attack out of precaution to the enemy, even if they planned to observe indifferently during the mercenary army’s combat process, they couldn’t let enemies fight beside them.

But they realized that the golem emitting ominous green light suddenly flickered and then burst into a radiant glow, they finally reacted... they tried rapidly retreating while wielding swords and spears, but the family on their right was not kind enough to vacate the space... by the time this bunch shouted ’the golem is going to explode’, it was too late.

The knights of the battlefield, as the golem was about to explode, suddenly stripped their equipment, then rushed directly into the ranks of the Zholar, laughing wildly while rolling on the ground with the agile ladies... they even had the leisure to choose genders, likely having observed for a long time.

With a deafening explosion, at least a few hundred of the Zholar family standing on the far left were blown to death... the protective power of leather armor on the Zholar was quite good, but still, a few thousand female warriors lost their combat capability... further away, many kneeled clutching their heads, though their quick reflexes hadn’t been caught by the undead, their sensitive ears left them dizzy and disoriented.

The Zholar, who always thought of themselves as securely seated on the fishing platform, hadn’t expected these knights of the battlefield did not intend to return to the city in a normal way... instead, the more Zholar they killed, the greater their rewards would be upon return.

Understandably, these Zholar levels were generally higher than the undead, and they should be counted as elite foes.

Just seeing their crazed combat style, Hill could be sure that the battlefield knights were the unlucky ones swept from the wilderness by the Zholar Great Army... double experience points were their guts to act like this.

These families are quite accustomed to organizing team-building-like activities... the whole family takes on a similar daily task together, helping each other complete it in the shortest time... probably to let family members get acquainted, at least familiar with faces.

Otherwise, it would be embarrassing to eliminate your own first when fighting with other guilds... and if family relations are poor, it’s easy to cause disputes over minor arguments.

They’re all here for fun, generally with similar attitudes: If a friend or recognized person asks them to do something, it means trusting their capability, a thumbs up and they work; remote commands from strangers are annoying complaints, only asking brother who they are.

But they would try to stagger times with other families when doing tasks... Hill isn’t sure how they divided the times, but the Black Rose did complete their team-building the day before... they summon their animal companions at such times, the traits of the Black Rose are overly prominent... so just a glance told Hill which family was in the wilderness.

Looks like today it was the battlefield’s turn... truly don’t know if their fate is good or bad... but with double experience, for those eagerly grabbing experience, it should be considered lucky, right?

Hill couldn’t help but laugh, watching a sultry Zholar Matron leap up and curse atop a gigantic Earthwalking Dragon... the live stream camera gave her a close-up shot: this Matron’s attire was incredibly Zholar: a thin silver thread hung around her neck, linking two strips of lavender gauze no more than three feet long and one foot wide.

In her rage, her firm and full chest heaved violently, delicate purple gauze fluttering around her, seemingly allowing a glimpse of some detail from the bare side view... the camera seemed to follow her sway from side to side.

Unfortunately, Toril is a world with magic... as long as the owner doesn’t intend for others to see, no matter how it swirls, the clothing won’t reveal anything it shouldn’t.

The Matron Zholar had no interest in releasing her charm now; she was truly cursing aloud... not only reprimanding her own family’s foolishness for lack of vigilance, but also berating the neighboring family that had obstructed them for a moment... The Matron next to her felt no anger at all, riding a giant shark-like beast and laughing heartily.

They truly didn’t hide their discord in front of the enemy...

Hill gazed quietly at the large screen, noticing some movement among the Zholar women he had marked... Hill directly discarded those glancing left and right, focusing his sight on an archer dressed in a complex style of leather armor, standing quietly among the crowd with lowered brows, staring at the ground without moving.

The other marked one, a Zholar Priest standing on the far right, although not moving, revealed a slight disdainful smile at the corner of her mouth... Perhaps this is the type whom Rose favors, those Female Priests deemed important; thus, they regard everyone with a superior air, including their own family’s Matron... Rose excels at drawing promises for these female priests: as long as they contribute enough, the family Matron could be replaced by them.

Of course, if that Matron did something to displease Rose, she indeed would be replaced... but the chance of such an event happening might occur only once every few hundred years... One reason is that these Matrons themselves ascended from Female Priests Rose was satisfied with, understanding Rose’s tastes better than newcomers; another reason is that if Rose truly were to tire of a particular Matron Zholar, it spells the doom for the entire family.

The thought of swapping a Matron to allow the family’s survival is something Zholar dare not contemplate; it’s more likely they would all become Human-Faced Spiders.

Those causing significant movement are likely spies from other families, unwilling to miss any opportunity to gather intelligence... Only Zholar without any needs from these families can maintain such calm.

As for the Wax Melt Demon, all Zholar are but Rose’s slaves; no matter how many die, she will feel nothing... Her task is to delay, not to eliminate the Undead Tribe, thus caring little for Zholar’s fatalities or injuries.

There’s also no opinion about the conflict between Matron Zholar, as this aligns with Rose’s intent... Were those Matrons to act in unity, perhaps the Wax Melt Demon might react more significantly... A harmonious Zholar Family is practically blasphemous to their Main God’s will.

But these Matrons haven’t forgotten their purpose, trading verbal blows while ensuring all Zholar raised their bows... Should the Undead Tribe and golem try to move towards them again, they’d face a barrage of arrows.

Yet the Undead Tribe won’t fear remote assaults like this... Zholar’s attack range is indeed long, but who wouldn’t have a few tricks to extend distance?

There’s a multitude of Mages and Priests able to add buffs! At least the Priests of the Goddess of the Silvermoon and Coron have Divine Arts to extend attack range.

Amidst the Undead Tribe’s relentless calls, countless silver and blue buffs danced among the crowd... only the Knights at the front were stacked with various magic defense and physical protection barriers.

Though confronting them as family arrays, the Defensive Knights didn’t intend to leave gaps when establishing the Shield Wall, eventually forming a line hand-in-hand.

Zholar’s attack power is undoubtedly strong; Hill could see those reflecting lesser competence among the Defensive Knights turned into porcupines from the arrows... Knights have cooldowns for their defense skills; those who don’t understand how to calculate their skill usage to maintain a constant defense skill naturally paid the price.

Being a qualified main tank isn’t easy.

Thus, the longer the battle raged fiercely, the more familiar the faces of the knights at the front line... those lacking in ability had long been eliminated.

Zholar didn’t find their adversaries daunting at all... Although many were lost, the Undead Tribe casualties were at least ten times theirs, notably those armored knights, costing at least tens of thousands of lives!

Most Zholar wore expressions of disdain: those who couldn’t handle their shields dared to face their bows and arrows!

They were yet to realize that their intent to observe the combat of riffraff had now contributed themselves into the fray.
