Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 973: Chapter 769: Establishment of the First Underground Revival Point

Hill silently watched as the Undead Tribe mercilessly advanced toward the tribe hidden within the catacombs on the giant screen. Perhaps fueled by a raging fire within, they burned through nearly every place they passed, especially the ground, where the Earth Mages ensured that no one stepped on the mud beneath.

The Fire Element Mages were practically mad, setting blazes all over the place, with close combat professions wielding weapons infused with ‘Fire Blade Technique.’ Whenever plants or burlap were discovered, they would be thrown into a flurry of fireballs.

And needless to say, any monster trying to resist, like the female Barbarians wielding stone axes, couldn’t even get close to the melee fighters… Their levels weren’t high, with few able to throw axes, thus they perished quickly.

As for the Undead Tribe, even the small and chaotic Little Barbarians running and screaming throughout the land couldn’t arouse their interest; whether big or small, they were seen merely as monsters, with ‘Little Barbarians’ just being a label to them, so they showed no mercy.

Hill leaned back on the sofa, lowering his head in contemplation; he could likely also carry through and obliterate these Stone-blind Barbarians, but he needed to psychologically prepare himself first… sternly reminding himself that these monsters merely have human appearances, and harbor no emotions, even lesser than Demons and Devils.

How could anyone look at Lesser Fiends and declare they hadn’t committed crimes, thus shouldn’t be slain?

Damn creatures, they are bound to die, even if he must intervene personally.

Then he calmly lifted his head, watching as the Undead Tribe resolved to wipe out every corner of the catacombs filled with Stone-blind Barbarians.

Fran observed Hill’s demeanor silently from the corner, nodding in satisfaction: Though his grandson was quite soft-hearted, he wasn’t the sort to naively wish to save everything… As long as he could mercilessly confront enemies, with Hill’s formidable power, little could endanger him.

Despite Fran’s continual displeasure toward the divine favor surrounding Hill, he knew clearly that if Hill encountered an overwhelming adversary, that entity wouldn’t easily eliminate a Mage that would offend numerous deities in one go.

At least in Toril, anyone dealing with Hill would need to tread carefully. Truth be told, the more Fran studied Toril’s history, the more it seemed ominous seeing Hill allied simultaneously with those few: Tyr’s alignment was understandable, being of righteous and orderly nature, yet Suren and Lansendel… how did he achieve that?

No need to mention Coron who lingered around Agleya for a long time, anyone aware of it would reckon the Father of Elves significantly valued Agleya’s lord. The last time he acted similarly was during the rise of the first Sun Elf Emperor… but that was his own son.

Toril was just temporarily sealed, and none knew when the deities would freely descend again within the coming years. Provided Agleya showed no ambition to invade other territories, none would trouble Hill… perhaps only a dragon blinded by the allure of wealth dared such.

Fran wore a faint smile, Hill’s sole soft-hearted weakness seemed unlikely to pose much problem. Provided Hill maintained his nature unchanged, Toril offered little able to contend with him.

That’s good, allowing him to dismiss external troubles and delve into his laboratory… The accumulated knowledge of Toril spanning hundreds of millennia had his hands itching eagerly.

The screen displayed the dedicated efforts of the Undead Tribe digging three feet into the ground, burning all dug-up earth with the strongest flames… Any residual crystallized remains were aggressively buried deeper underground.

They unearthed all cavernous past dwellings of the Barbarians, stripped every unavoidable wall at least a meter thick, followed by the Water Mage thoroughly flushing the cave clean… Then set ablaze again from end to end.

Finally, the Earth Mages transformed the cave completely into Blue Oak Rock… The reason Stone-blind Barbarians favored this catacomb was due to a winding underground river flowing through… Yet, no one intended to preserve that river.

After all, the Undead Tribe had no need for extrinsic water; who hasn’t got a Condensation Pearl?

Their eyes suffered tremendous damage and now yearned to gaze upon the pristine neatness of the blue sanctuary.

Of course, ultimately, the Light Mages executed their efforts, encircling the entire catacomb with countless spells of dispel evil and Light of Purification… the white glow almost continuously flashed for over 10 minutes.

When it finally ceased, the insatiable looks of wanting another session displayed on the girls’ faces made it clear that their mana was completely depleted.

Hill also noticed several Alchemy Mages taking out their refining tools… judging by their gestures and materials dropped, they seemed to be refining perfumes endowed with special aromas.

Junior alchemy potion makers indeed start with simple household items like fragrances, mainly because these were the only items that could be sold.

The Undead Tribe finally erected a simple temple-type Alchemy House at the center of the catacomb, supported by 24 white columns sustaining the circular palace, allowing an unobstructed overview.

Only a central transparent crystal column was surrounded by a circle of marble cabinets standing person-height, with nothing placed on the tiered shelves yet.

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ stood before the structure, proclaiming loudly: “Now everyone needs to vote on whether to designate this as our Underworld’s first Revival Point… Should you disagree, there’s nothing I can do.

But I hope you consider carefully, there isn’t a more suitable location on our path, hence if this fails, we must continue downward.

Most people likely want to rest now, right?”

Even though some still felt uneasy, the notion of wishing away the discomfort won out, and most of the Undead Tribe compromised.

The silver-white light flashed directly, and lines of magic arrays appeared on the white floor of the Temple… Soon, the members of the Undead Tribe who didn’t plan to return to the city for resurrection appeared in the middle of the Temple.

The little fairies held their breath quietly, finally unable to resist the urge to communicate at this moment, although they were discussing who vomited the least… Not vomiting was impossible; even the brown sprites long accustomed to housework couldn’t hold it.

Fran stood up quietly and almost floated out of the study… He didn’t even say hello to Hill.

Knowing that his grandfather was actually quite shocked, Hill didn’t display his etiquette at this moment… After seeing Fran leave, Hill hurried back to his room: he needed a bath.

It wasn’t just that his spirit was stimulated; his study had just been full of vomit, and although these little guys were all vegetarians, the smell wasn’t as terrible… But for someone with a cleanliness obsession, it was still horrifying.

Hill had already been very patient to endure until now.

By the time Hill left the bathroom satisfied, List had divided the materials from the insects into two parts, delivering them to Hill and Fran’s laboratories, respectively.

Of course, Hill only received insect shells; the rest, including a complete Insect King, was sent to Fran.

Although Hill had worked very hard to control the influence of his own bloodline… He had personally completed a frog dissection experiment as a great middle school student and was not afraid of such research… He still had some physiological aversions.

Unless absolutely necessary, Hill was also unwilling to particularly go against his physiological responses.

Moreover, he was not entirely unable to research biological materials; it was just preferable not to research corpses directly, but insect shells were fine.

Hill was delighted to find that the materials on his experimental bench were all cleaned: “List, you’re really too considerate! What would I do without you!”

List smiled as he floated beside him: “Being able to satisfy you is the greatest compliment for me, sir.

These materials were sent back by Mr. Luo Sanquan, and I have paid the full amount.”

Hill couldn’t help but look to the side: “Do you know why it was him?”

“He’s in charge of finances in the command group for the Black Rose Faction, responsible for accounting and distributing spoils with people from other families… This is originally his job, that’s what he told me directly.

But from the conversation he had with a few people nearby, I could tell he drew the Ghost Card.”

Hill couldn’t help but laugh; it was indeed reasonable.

“Sir.” List suddenly glanced outside, “Mr. Lynn is coming up.”

Hill was a bit puzzled, took off the isolation robe he was already wearing, and turned back to the study.

However, upon entering the study, he suddenly realized he should transfer this screen to the rooftop garden.

Anyway, there were many long benches like chaise lounges and intricate small tables there, making it comfortable to watch the live broadcast.

If this was how stimulating it was just starting underground, Hill truly suspected that the Undead Tribe’s advance this time could encounter all the disgusting monsters in the Underdark. He must be mad to let that group of little fairies vomit in his study again.

No matter how cleanly it was cleaned, it wouldn’t be enough.

“Hill.” Lynn looked at Hill inexplicably, floating back and forth between the study and the garden, “What are you doing? Why aren’t you watching it in the study?”

“Ah… um… fresh air.” Hill replied without changing his expression.

Lynn gave his friend a suspicious glance, feeling that there might be something wrong with him.

But he had more important matters at hand and temporarily let Hill off the hook: “Hill, do you remember that Acreber’s Holy Grail and amulet? I’ve transferred them several times into an underground auction in Deepwater City, allowing Acreber’s believers to buy them back themselves.”

Hill nodded: “So, is there news?”

“Yes, and it’s very strange… They claimed to have received Acreber’s response… instructing them to advance into Kalinsan, under the name of the Sun God Amanata, to eliminate the rampant Fire God Beasts and Air God Creatures.”
