Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 974: Chapter 770: Good Friends Should Share

Tsk, it would be a wonder if Acreber could wake up before Amanata!

Hill couldn’t help but slightly curl the corner of his mouth, as Mystra was missing, Amanata’s resurrection had indeed begun.

The reason this Sun God had slept for so many centuries without awakening from the Stellar Realm was clearly understood by everyone; the Weave formed by Primordial Power had never forgiven him.

The first Goddess of Magic, Mistui, could truly be called the master of the Weave, as she was born from the Primordial Power, the real Goddess of Magic. The two successors after her were merely network administrators, without system rights, unable to even touch it.

The most important thing is that neither of these two subsequent Mystra were wholeheartedly protected by the Primordial Weave.

If it were Mistui who had defied AO’s orders and willfully returned to the Stellar Realm, a hundred Heim couldn’t take her down... Of course, whether AO would have cast Mistui down to the ground is a different matter.

The one who caused the Weave to collapse by ascending to godhood and forced Mistui to disintegrate herself back into Primordial Power, becoming everything, the Instant God Carlsasu and the Naiso Arcanists who assisted in this foolish act, were all followers of Amanata. No one would believe this Sun God was completely unaware.

Maybe he, like Mistui, thought that Arcanist was a madman not worth considering, and never intended to pay attention to Carlsasu... But he must have known what was happening from the start.

So, being abandoned by all followers for nearly destroying the world, Amanata is not innocent at all... After all, the truly innocent Mistui had already lost her life due to her negligence.

It’s conceivable that the strongest opposition to Amanata’s resurrection is the Weave and its Agents.

Historically, there have been people wanting to praise the Sun anew, a tendency almost intrinsic to humans and many races, but they were all stopped by the two Goddesses of Magic... Including the current Midnight, who would insist on preventing the resurrection of that ancient Sun God.

These two Goddesses of Magic were not the type to wholeheartedly avenge their predecessors, so it’s clear who’s still holding a grudge to this day.

Similarly, if it weren’t for the farce Lansendel stirred up historically, Amanata dreamt of resurrecting under his own Name of God.

Even with Mystra missing, and the Weave so fragile it couldn’t communicate with the outside world, those intending to revive Amanata had to use Acreber as a lead... That Demigod Chosen of the Sun God is truly a good person, many Eternals who’ve interacted with him can’t help but sigh in regret when mentioning him.

”For Amanata? Or for Acreber?” Hill asked softly.

”They said Acreber sensed the summons through his two Divine Artifacts in the Stellar Realm and awakened,” Lynn swiftly replied. ”So, this renowned kind soul decided to let them act under his Main God’s Name, not just to awaken his pitiable Main God, but also to gain the World Will of Toril’s forgiveness.”

Hill laughed indifferently, finding it quite a reasonable excuse.

After all, considering Toril’s usual style, as long as those Divine Beasts don’t expand beyond Kalinsan’s territory, no one would care how tragically the Kalinsanians die.

That nation... was originally Divine Beast territory, no one can argue the historical and present differences with Divine Beasts, unlike the logical Elves... Understanding their current fists aren’t hardy enough, the Elves won’t be so assertive in their actions, and will inevitably need a reasonable excuse.

The Divine Beasts won’t think that way; as long as their two Deities are released, they are the masters of Kalinsan, and humans are their slaves.

It’s just that, who knows why AO insists on having Amanata resurrect now, does he think the punishment on this Sun God is sufficient?

Thus, Mystra’s fall was indeed inevitable, rather than a fortuitous event.

”With more and more things involving Amanata coming out, I could foresee this day.” Lynn turned to look at Deepwater City, ”Mystra has yet to be found, Amanata’s news has emerged, and who knows what those Chosen feel right now.”

”The Goddess of Magic’s Chosen, now dare not publicly oppose Acreber’s call,” Hill slowly responded, ”Toril’s collapse this time was due to Mystra being accidentally assassinated.

Everything now is to make up for the Goddess of Magic’s failings... The World Will will surely agree with this approach.

Amanata has already slept for a long time; perhaps... it’s considered he has atoned enough for initially concealing, leading to world collapse and the Goddess of Magic’s fall?

This is Toril World’s internal affair, and an outsider like me has no right to interfere.”

Lynn lowered his eyes, silently sitting on the chair. He clearly understood whose name Hill left out, but Hill used to speak openly without reservations.

He certainly wasn’t guarding against his grandfather, so... Lynn turned his gaze to the group of Little Fairies singing and dancing around the big tree in the rooftop garden.

He still remembered where the first batch of Little Fairies came from, especially Vila.

Lynn nodded at Hill, understanding his hint, and seeing that slight regret on his face.

Hill is truly a sincere friend, cherishing every friendship. Unless absolutely necessary, he would never give them up voluntarily.

Unfortunately, in Toril, the greatest misfortune is not being strong enough.

Vila, such a demigod little fairy, is too weak, with an even weaker will, making it almost impossible to escape the control of the Tablets of Fate... or the World Will.

”Who knows what Oberon will be like when he wakes up,” Lynn said lightly.

”He might not feel anything. Vila wanting to be a queen isn’t necessarily a bad thing,” Hill shook his head. ”The reason why the little fairy queen guards against Vila so much obviously has its reasons.”

Lynn understood Hill’s hint. Vila’s competitive nature means being guided in a different direction wasn’t a complete change of character.

After Oberon wakes up from such a long slumber, he won’t notice Vila’s changes as abruptly as Hill does.

Or rather, only someone as sensitive as Hill can see that Vila’s initially possible fate was actually tampered with.

The power of the Tablets of Fate isn’t strong enough to completely twist a person beyond recognition... but it’s enough to be extremely detestable.

Just think back to the last time such a world-altering event occurred, when three ordinary adventurers were directly elevated to deities: Cyric, Mystra, and Kelemvor.

Not one of them is satisfied with the status quo.

How could those manipulated into becoming beings of great divine power not fear the lines of destiny controlling them?

In fact, Mystra and Kelemvor have more or less accepted their fate, merely wanting more freedom for themselves. But Cyric clearly wants to be stronger than AO, so no one can change his fate again.

However, the Prince of Lies’ attempts to struggle seem firmly under the control of the Tablets of Fate.

Lynn couldn’t help but shiver... Thank goodness, the fate of elves and half-elves isn’t so easily rewritten; it’s usually by their own doing.

Lynn steered the topic to a safer direction: ”The Undead Tribe will head to Kalinsan once they emerge from the underground, right? If the Stellar Realm is still inaccessible then, it would suit them well.”

Hill nodded: ”Vila might go with them when the time comes, so have Marsha keep track of all the little fairies planning to leave.

But... unlike others, remember to give them the choice to return.”

Lynn quickly understood his implication. Hill had previously agreed with Vila: once the resident little fairies leave, their privileges in the Puzzle Lock, including some magic arrays controlled by the Temporal Artifact, would decrease.

Agleya City originally stipulated that once you move out, there’s no second chance for residency. But these little fairies, Lynn sighed softly, leaving isn’t necessarily their own will, so Hill is willing to give them another chance.

”By the way,” Hill took out several books, cradling them as he planned to sit in the open garden, he couldn’t help but ask Lynn, ”The Undead Tribe has been gone for a day, why haven’t you come over or gone to the Alchemy Hall to watch the excitement?”

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked Hill why he moved to the garden.

”Hmm?” Lynn, who was pondering little fairy matters, absentmindedly replied, ”Aren’t they just big beetles? They’re nothing to the Undead Tribe, so I didn’t keep watching... there are so many things to handle!

Hill, you don’t think it’s easy to rebuild an intelligence network, do you?

Just finding trustworthy communication partners is enough to make me lose hair! Fortunately, there are some trustworthy elf mages in the Mage Academy.”

”Oh... so you don’t know that the Master of Runes, Lagong, is in our underground world?”

”What?” Lynn stood up in shock, ”I got information that he was missing! How did he get here? From the Underworld?”

”He’s probably only a day’s journey from the World’s Ridge, so I guess he’s staying in Deepwater City’s ’Under the Mountain.’ And only there, with its countless overlapping spaces, could accommodate a small teleport,” Hill said calmly, ”I don’t think anyone would risk testing how crazy the Black Robe is now just to pursue a lich.”

Lynn nodded: ”Got it. I’ll use this information to trade for some important intelligence with others.”

Hill—struggling to maintain a neutral expression—said seriously, ”The Temporal Artifact can replay past scenes, you can observe Lagong’s current state yourself. They have already annihilated a Stone-blind Barbarians tribe of nearly ten thousand and established the first underground camp.”

Lynn furrowed his brows in thought: ”Such a large tribe isn’t normal, I need to study it.”
