Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 966: Chapter 762: The Old Dog Who Can Never Resist Cursing

Hill expressionlessly turned his gaze back to the giant screen... Now Vila’s mind has been completely twisted, and becoming the new Fairy Queen has become the supreme pursuit in her heart. No matter what Hill says, it is useless.

The only thing to be thankful for is that during the journey when the Sun God returned to his divine position, as long as Vila put in a certain amount of effort, she could repay the small favor she owed... As long as her heart wasn’t corrupted by power at that time and she was willing to return to Agleya to be her carefree Flower Fairy, Agleya would certainly welcome her with open arms.

But Hill knew very well, when Vila became the Fairy Queen in Kalinsan, he could no longer open his heart for his little friend... Hill was absolutely unwilling to do anything for Amanata’s resurrection!

Even if it were Vila’s wish, clearly knowing that this was not what the Little Flower Fairy truly wanted, how could Hill agree?

That would make him feel extorted!

Hill’s increasingly cold expression caught Fran’s attention. He carefully pondered the earlier conversation between Hill and the Little Fairy and sighed slightly in his heart.

Although he couldn’t understand what they specifically said, it was evident that this Little Fairy was walking down the path most commonly seen in Toril.

Fran couldn’t help but look up at the sky, at the stone slab that had bound countless lives in Toril... it was truly terrifying.

Fortunately, they were Teraxil people.

The World Tree Pantheon never cared where the worlds it created were heading... When he left Teraxil, he could still hear some fools complaining that the Cosmic World Tree never sheltered Teraxil, even watching it head to ruin... did nothing even when its own daughter was dying and falling asleep.

Fran always felt that they shouldn’t count on the deities... just as he never thought every Teraxil person would love their own child, nor had the right to condemn the deities for ignoring them, but he also thought that if the World Tree had helped out when the Goddess of the Earth fell asleep, things would have been better...

But once he truly saw the Multiverse with his own eyes... Fran felt extremely grateful... Luckily their true Creator was that calm-minded World Tree that handed all power over to the living beings of the planet itself.

Even if destruction came, no one would come to the rescue... but at least they wouldn’t live like a joke... Even if some could escape those puppet-like fates, before that, they still had to struggle to survive in the quagmire.

Fran quietly looked at that beautiful Little Fairy above Hill’s head, and with his understanding of his grandson, if this Little Flower Fairy named Vila had been so ambitious from the start, Hill would never have gotten along with her so well.

Hill sympathizes with the weak and will help rescue some pitiful victims... but he will never extend a hand to those who actively threw themselves into power struggles and lost.

So it can be imagined, what Hill’s heart must feel like now... Such a regrettable fate!

Fran knocked on the table in front of him and handed Hill a cup of Rainbow Shadow Wine, ”Sometimes, a glass of wine can make you feel much better.”

Hill turned to look at his grandfather, glanced down at the wine glass, and the ruby wine gently rippled in the crystal cup, with golden flecks shimmering within. He showed a slightly sad smile and raised his glass towards his grandfather: ”May every soul fly free.”

Fran lifted his wine glass and clinked it with Hill’s, and together they tilted their heads back and drank the wine.

Rainbow Shadow Wine was an elven strong drink Fran came to love after arriving in Hill’s city. It has a clear taste, and instead, makes one feel awake even though it is a strong drink, having a refreshing effect.

But his purpose for pouring this wine for Hill was certainly not to make his grandson clearer-headed:

This wine brewed with two rare fruits, Orosk and Rheesmoore, is usually stored in bottles made of transparent crystal and can absorb light.

When a special phrase is spoken in Elvish, those lights will converge into thirteen different points, just like the Coron constellation in Elven tradition.

For elves, especially worshipers of Coron, this is almost sacred wine.

Thus, elves cherish Rainbow Shadow Wine greatly, for them, sharing it is the best blessing to family and friends... hoping they will be forever happy and healthy under Coron’s protection.

Even if Hill could grow Orosk and Rheesmoore himself, and fill a warehouse with brewed Rainbow Shadow Wine, the meaning the wine represents will not change.

Hill certainly understood his grandfather’s intentions and gave Fran a faint smile.

Actually, he wasn’t unprepared... When he knew that Vila and several other Little Flower Fairies not only survived with the help of Amanata’s Holy Grail but also lived alongside him for thousands of years, he knew problems might arise.

But he didn’t expect it to be this severe, it had directly twisted a demigod’s will!

Perhaps, as Vila said, she was born relying on Toril’s Force of Nature... carrying this world’s mark, the Line of Destiny hadn’t been in Vila’s own hands from the start.

Vila sensitively noticed Hill’s mood wasn’t great, she happily swayed on the swing made of long hair, comforting her big friend: ”Don’t worry, Hill, I won’t go to Kalinsan to fight... I will definitely hide behind the Undead Tribe and come out after they’re done fighting!

Then... when I let Kalinsan re-emerge as a Garden Forest, no one will be able to harm me!

Toril’s Natural Consciousness will protect me!”

Hill smiled and nodded at her, saying nothing more, for some things... he could only wait for the ending.

He turned his gaze back to the giant screen.

The lich’s endurance was indeed formidable... Repeatedly pushing the fire wall like this, Lagong actually persisted for nearly an hour.

It seems that not only the Undead Tribe was waiting for his Ein Stone to fill up, but Lagong himself was also eager to see if there was a chance to unleash a powerful move. To be honest, this was Hill’s first time seeing someone wearing all mana-absorbing Ein Stones.

It’s known that Ein Stones of the same color will either fuse together to become a larger one, usually with five as the limit, or repel each other, making stacking impossible... only different colors of Ein Stones can do that.

And the force that one color of Ein Stone can increase is at most 25% of the person’s own power.

Hill quietly waited to see what kind of destructive power half the mana of a lich who lived for thousands of years could bring about...

The two stones circling around Lagong’s head were getting brighter and brighter.

”Three Ts assume positions!” The voice of ’Snow Cloud Peak’ grew louder. ”Mage, full elemental protection! Priest, shield the Ts! Holy Rain, don’t stop! Ensure the Necromantic Barrier covers everyone!”

Fran put down his wine glass and commented with interest, ”Although their hands-on skills are poor, their timing is quite accurate!

It’s a pity it seems they haven’t identified Lagong’s true identity yet... With full elemental protection, a lot of people are likely to die.

Protecting with a Necromantic Barrier won’t be enough.”

Hill couldn’t help but laugh, ”Anyway, they can afford to gamble.”

Lagong is a lich... and whenever he goes for a powerful move, it’ll definitely be necromancy spells.

Fran just wanted to nod when, amidst the sudden screams of the little fairies, he noticed countless black flames erupting towards the Undead Tribe on the giant screen.

He furrowed his brow, this is...

”Black Flame Technique... an eighth ring necromancy spell. If the Undead Tribe considers it a fire element, they’re doomed,” Hill said softly.

Those of the Undead Tribe standing at the forefront, the 3Ts, had already raised their giant shields, forming a tall golden Holy Wall shoulder to shoulder... Hill was a bit puzzled, wondering why the first wave sent to die was the 2Ts.

No... Hill looked at those knights holding shields persevering in the black flames for a long time. Although their defensive power wasn’t as high as the main Ts, they were definitely stronger than those in the first wave... they were clearly battle knights, just wearing defensive gear.

They hadn’t even released such a cooperative Shield Wall.

Hill silently glanced at the ’Snow Cloud Peak’ locked in the carriage; had some big boss, who understood their speaking manner, given them a lesson?

It seemed that what he said on the surface might have been for everyone to hear... No wonder they didn’t let the Scattered Ones stand at the forefront, even sending people to die was done by each major family.

Thus, Hill wasn’t surprised anymore, seeing those black flames endlessly splitting and bouncing in every direction, jumping next to emerging Holy Springs... Clearly, when dealing with a lich, they chose to let the mage add buffs, turning the priest into the main force.

The black flame indeed couldn’t be reflected, nor could its automatic splitting be stopped, but as long as there were enough priests, they could entrap it with Holy Springs composed of Holy Power... Even the jumping necromancy flames would only slowly dissipate once falling into the Holy Springs...

Hill couldn’t help but laugh.

The defense method he and Fran had devised was according to the mage’s perspective... The Undead Tribe, really only they could come up with it.

”Priests! Priests! What are you all thinking? Didn’t you see what the priests of the family team are doing? Release the Holy Springs!” The irritable voice of ’Snow Cloud Peak’ came out again, ”Isn’t it easy to follow and learn?”

Then he suddenly paused: ”Main T, be attentive to fill the positions! One dies, another takes their place, just cover the one in front of you, don’t worry about others! If any place gets hit by the black flame, half of your merit points will be deducted!

Especially for the Magic Cult!”

Then, this mage commander angrily pounded the carriage wall, no longer able to contain his anger: ”What are those few thinking, placing the Holy Springs into the crowd? Huh?

You can’t aim at the black flame, I accept that! Outside is so vast, maybe a blind cat might catch a dead rat by luck!

What are you thinking putting them in the crowd?

Our Ts are still standing there, aren’t they?

I’m just...!”

Holy Springs count as eighth ring Divine Arts; even for an Undead Priest, it would take up over half the mana bar to cast, and those Scattered Ones priests might not necessarily drink a Mana Potion.
