Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 972: Chapter 768: An Incredibly Hard-Fought Victory

The Undead Tribe’s live stream this time surprisingly conceded... It’s obvious that he fixed his recording equipment in a certain place, not intending to follow that Worm Mage with the fearless spirit of a paparazzo.

So the giant screen always faced him... making it hard to believe that there would be a day when he was so agile... and once again, Snow Old Dog took out the carriage and hid inside.

But no one could blame him for anything... Dodging attacks specifically aimed at him on the battlefield is a commander’s duty... After the Worm Mage determined the importance of ’Snow Cloud Peak’, he kept firing maggots at him without stopping.

Although most could be blocked outside by the Shield Wall, the Defensive Knights’ skills also have a cooldown, so there are always some slipping through while they’re switching skills.

Luckily, this Worm Mage has such a limited brain capacity, so all the maggots were aimed at Snow Old Dog... If he didn’t get into the carriage, he’d really have maggots dropping on his head.

’Snow Old Dog’ gritted his teeth and cursed angrily: ”Hey, you Light Mages! It’s fine if you don’t dare to look forward and cast spells, but can you save your poor commander now? I’m serving as bait now, can’t you send some lifesaving light?

If you don’t attack, I still have to observe the battlefield!”

After he finished yelling, finally, beams of light appeared around his carriage... It was obvious these girls were just casually throwing light in the direction of the carriage... But as long as there were enough people, there was always a blind cat catching a dead rat.

It’s estimated that ’Snow Cloud Peak’ has never been so radiant in this lifetime. When he climbed out from the top of the carriage holding an oil painting, his ice-blue hair shone brightly, and even his white robe seemed dusted with diamond powder.

Fran couldn’t help taking a glance at Hill: ”Is the oil painting going to work?”

Hill examined it a few times before calmly telling Fran: ”The oil painting leveled up later... It has now been blessed by the three deities of Sun, Moon, and Earth, and the small version of the oil painting that came out from it is at demi-god artifact level.

According to Toril’s calculations, it can also be considered a subartifact; against a level 30 monster, it can still have some effect.

However, it can only be used once every seven days, so now that it’s used, there’s one less lifesaving item.”

Fran couldn’t help but twitch his mouth slightly: ”For the Undead Tribe, a total collapse would be better than now, right? Two-thirds of them are now casting spells at the maximum distance with their heads down... Fortunately, they still know to control the distance.”

Hill chuckled quietly. In fact, it’s not just that Worm Mage flying around on the battlefield, lots of level 20 or so Stone-blind Barbarians are also trying to swing their big sticks at the Undead Tribe.

But although the Undead Tribe’s chaotic spellcasting didn’t harm that terrifying-looking monster, they did manage to take down quite a few Stone-blind Barbarians, even if those nearly mindless guys still charged recklessly... Clearly, they were completely controlled by that Worm Mage.

Their brains, which are very suitable for Heart-taking Demon control, could naturally also be easily controlled by a Worm Mage who has some Mage abilities... It’s not that other Mages couldn’t do it; it’s just that nobody wants to.

When they offer their own kind to their Heart-taking Demon masters, they carry the deepest curse from the Human Race on themselves.

This battle could not have a second outcome, but for the Undead Tribe, the longer it drags, the more likely they are to collapse.

Hill suddenly froze, realizing one thing... William only blocked out the bloody and evil, but didn’t intend to block the disgusting for the Undead Tribe?

Is that guy doing it to retaliate against the Undead Tribe’s incessant cursing over the years?

Hill tilted his head slightly, covering his mouth with his fist to laugh; this really exposed his petty vengeance!

Then Hill decided to let this matter go for now, after all, the most important problem now is... Can the ’Snow Cloud Peak’, holding an oil painting with a grim face, and glaring at the Worm Mage bouncing around everywhere, manage to aim accurately just once?

They now can’t have spell-locking ability.

Although ’Scorching Radiance’ is indeed an area attack spell... There’s still a bit of difference between the center and the edges of the spell... as long as he doesn’t get taken out all at once... Eh... how should I put it? The humanoid races like Stone-blind Barbarians, which have lost their humanity, still have the same ability to produce trash, and it’s very likely to be everywhere... In other words, if he escapes, he might be able to appear again soon.

Why can only absolutely evil spellcasters turn into such a thing, haha, only cold-blooded scum who can even turn on themselves can do such a terrifying thing... Slightly self-respecting spellcasters can’t do it.

So, seeing this thing makes spellcasters genuinely disgusted, even those Necromancers who’ve lost their emotions and don’t feel anything dirty... it tells them they still have a sense of humanity.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ probably knows how accurate his aim really is, so after aiming for a while, he yelled loudly: ”Where’s Rainfall! Where’s Ink Brush! What are you standing there for? Do you really want me to strike myself?”

He looked back with irritation, then angrily said: ”Ink Brush! Where are you hiding? You’re not ashamed to hide behind the little girls too!”

The voice of Ink Brush, which had always been calm and gentle, revealed an immense panic for the first time: ”Rainfall! Brother! Dear good brother! If you make a move... I’ll give you free dinner for a month at Agleya’s pub! For two!”

Hill couldn’t help but laugh: The playboy’s first reaction when facing a crisis is truly unique!

A Black Robe Mage silently emerged from the ranks of the Black Rose, with a face like iron, heading straight towards the ’Snow Cloud Peak’ carriage, muttering curses under his breath about the other two.

The fact that most of the phrases were censored showed just how furious ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ was.

Hill estimated that ’Snow Cloud Peak’ would only call on the two of them for help because they were the only three magical professions members in the commanding group of their alliance... there might be female spellcasters too, but Old Dog wasn’t that shameless... though if truly necessary, he wouldn’t hesitate to beg the ladies for help.

But Ink Brush was clearly spent... a playboy who has always demonstrated his heroic demeanor in front of girls, shrinking behind a group of girls like this, shows the impact this disgusting scene had on him.

Thus, ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ probably took a quick look around and understood that he had to make a move... although it was indeed disgusting, the Black Rose’s squad was the steadiest... after all, they had been baptized in the Muddy Pond for years.

However, this didn’t mean he was willing, so when he climbed out of the carriage, he almost growled, ”Old Dog, you need to practice your skills better! I must be a good teacher, don’t you worry!”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ hesitated, at this moment he dared not say anything witty to chase Rainfall away... as the lifeline relied on this only strand.

He presented the oil painting with both hands to Rainfall, showing a sincere smile: ”I’m counting on you, Rainfall.”

Then he swiftly slid away: ”Your merit points will be triple calculated.”

’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ noticeably twitched his cheek but swallowed down the curses at the tip of his tongue, resolutely holding the oil painting and looking ahead.

Although only half an hour had passed, the Defensive Knights, who kept shouting whether they had endured agony for three days, were nearing their limit; he needed to hurry.

He stared forcibly at that yellow, sticky, swarm of writhing maggots bursting monster for a full five minutes before seizing the optimal moment: the creature seemed too drained and thus tried to let maggots gnaw on the deceased Stone-blind Barbarians... Although the Light Mages from the Undead Tribe were few, they had already inflicted considerable damage on it.

The fewer than 100 Light Mages were surrounded by Defensive Knights holding shields, continuously casting Sunlight Beam, although lasting less than a minute before squatting down to adjust their mood, at least someone was always attacking that Worm Mage.

But this also caused the Worm Mage to never stay in one place for more than 30 seconds, even when replenishing his strength... After all, it could use its maggots to devour the barbarians’ flesh.

However, reclaiming those maggots, which had soaked up a large amount of flesh and blood, required it to pause there, they were incapable of flight.

Rainfall roughly discerned the monster’s movements, so he struck timely: the beam shot directly onto the Worm Mage and then burst in every direction.

A repulsive scream pierced through the curtain instantly... Everyone hearing it seemed to have their souls shaken.

In the study, the Little Fairies abruptly started vomiting again, this time not due to their eyesight witnessing disgusting things, but because their overly sensitive nerves felt the evil embedded in that sound.

Hill frowned: This was the wail that only emerged when a soul was utterly obliterated.

Once the Worm Mage died, its soul wouldn’t leave even a trace behind, not even the Maggot’s Nest in Hell needed its soul to produce Lesser Fiends.

No one would sympathize with such a creature.

Yet, the Defensive Knights of the Undead Tribe began to scream again: ”Light the fires! Fire Wall! Burn! Help!”

Hill suddenly realized... When a Worm Mage dies, all the flies, maggots, and worms forming its body lose their perception and become harmless insects... what was evil was the controlling soul, not the creatures themselves.

The Scorching Radiance spell is only effective against evil, with countless uncontrollable bugs now left on the battlefield.

Hill quickly lowered his head; for someone with little bit of cleanliness obsession, it was truly a disaster.

However, for the Undead Tribe, as long as the Defensive Knights were willing to risk being burned by fire, this matter could be dealt with quite rapidly.

So promptly Hill heard Old Dog’s voice: ”Alright... let’s march towards the front camp! Fire Mages, burn every inch forward. Earth Mages, please dig three feet deep!”
