Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 965: Chapter 761: Vila’s Sudden Yet Predestined Transformation

’Snow Cloud Peak’ once again burst into his routine, irritable shouting: ”Holy Rain! Get it going! What are the priests thinking? This is obviously a lich, even if you rain flowers, it won’t heal him!”

”Water Magic! After buffing, use ’Torrential Rain’ to extinguish the fire! Don’t use Ice Spells! Have some common sense, will you? This is a lich! Immune to Ice!”

”Wind Magic can blow some wind, Wood Magic throw some thorns over... Don’t use powerful spells! Those two on his head are Ein Stones! Spells below level 8 can be absorbed... Fill it up first, then talk!

3T ready! 3T ready! Once the overflowing effect of the Ein Stone appears, immediately swap defense with the main T!

If your aim is good, save some energy! Don’t come asking me for Mana Potions later! I’m broke! I didn’t even have enough for myself!”

Hill couldn’t help but laugh. ’Snow Cloud Peak’ is an Ice Mage... primarily uses Blizzard and just mindlessly throws spells everywhere. When precise attacks are needed, no one in the Undead Tribe expects him to hit the enemy... If he doesn’t hit his own, it’s already miraculous.

Although the repeatedly raised Fire Wall by Lagong dealt considerable damage, most of the Defensive Knights in the front row of the Undead Tribe managed to endure... The defense buffs on them are just too many, reducing the Fire Wall’s effect by at least a third.

And that’s the awkwardness of the Fire Wall Spells: if it can burn through, it can clear the field in an instant, even sweep the entire cave clean... But if blocked, its damage potential is greatly reduced.

However, Lagong didn’t seem to mind, repeatedly using Fire Wall... This spell can still harm the Undead Tribe, and the violet Soul Fire in his eye sockets flickered unpredictably, probably calculating the endurance capability of the Undead Tribe... Most of the dead Undead still lay there, so Lagong hasn’t realized his initial goal was impossible to achieve.

Only a few who wanted to sell stuff at Agleya City chose to return to the city for resurrection, but the back-and-forth rolling Fire Walls never caught the lich’s attention regarding those disappearing corpses.

”Is that his talent?” Fran asked after observing for a while.

Hill replied softly: ”Yes, it’s a kind of Legendary Level Spell specialty, and he also uses the spell energy absorbed by the Ein Stone to replenish his consumption, so his own consumption is minimal.

’Recall Spell’, a legendary magic talent, allows for repeated use of previously used spells within an hour... For Legendary Spells, only three times, but for something like Fire Wall, there’s no such need for restriction.”

Lagong was indeed using his own mana... But the Undead Tribe’s attacks on his spells allow the Ein Stone to be adequately replenished. Even using dozens of Fire Wall Spells simultaneously doesn’t exhaust the Ein Stone to the point of dormancy.

Moreover, the lich’s constant long-range weapon deflection barrier renders arrows and spears aimed at him ineffective.

The battle scene in the cave has now reached a stalemate.

The Undead Tribe, however, didn’t really mind and fought with great enthusiasm... Killing the boss or getting killed by the boss is their daily enjoyment.

Fran turned to Hill and asked, ”Let me see his information... Seems like a famous person!”

Hill went to the bookshelf holding the biographies of legendary figures of the Ferun Great Land and retrieved the material on this Master of Runes who had been active in the southern country of Kalinsan on Ferun since a few thousand years ago.

Fran is a very proud person, if not for Lagong’s interesting Over-magic Specialty, he wouldn’t be interested in a mere skeleton... Someone who has no interest in becoming a deity wouldn’t see much value in a lich turning into a necromancer and shedding all emotion and rationality.

Fran briefly skimmed through and asked, somewhat puzzled: ”Why would he be underground on the Northern Continent? Kalinsan isn’t a place you can reach in just a day or two... You said that teleportation isn’t possible in Toril now, right?”

Hill realized why he appeared so quickly once it turned out to be Lagong and couldn’t help but chuckle: ”Kalinsan’s original territory belonged to the Divine Beasts... Their leaders, the Fire God Beast Mannan and the Air Divine Beast Karin, due to constant conflicts turned vast lands into desert and ruins, and over 7000 years ago were imprisoned by the Elves in a Holy Crystal from Heavenly Mountain.

However, the Magicplague occurred... The rioting Primordial Power attacked all powerful items not belonging to Toril. That crystal probably shattered too.”

Vila, who had been hanging onto Hill’s hair, shrieked, ”What? Are those silly descendants of the Air Elementals and Fire Elementals going to war again?

They’re natural enemies; they shouldn’t exist at all!”

These Kalinsanian Divine Beasts that turned half the southern region of Ferun into a desert wasteland were feared not only for their wanton destruction of nature... In their memory that remained from 7000 years ago, humans were merely slaves.

Hill calmly comforted Vila, ”Don’t worry, the Kalinsanians couldn’t handle these elements, but the Undead Tribe can.”

”How will they do it?” Vila said, gripping her Small Magic Wand nervously, ”Hill, they’re Elements! Most spells and physical attacks are useless against them!”

”When they attack each other, don’t they perish too? You just need to use spells with opposing attributes. The Undead Tribe is quite good at using Water Magic.” Hill thought for a moment, then added, ”And the Undead Tribe can modify their own attributes.”

Vila pondered for a moment before saying, ”The little fairies born in Toril will slowly perish because Toril’s nature is damaged... My dream cannot collapse before it even starts.

If the Undead Tribe is really willing to go to Kalinsan to eliminate those enemies of nature, I’m planning to follow them.”

Hill couldn’t help but glance at Vila, ”Is it really necessary for Oberon’s awakening to be so troublesome?”

The greenery near Agleya should be enough to sustain that God of Little Fairies.

”Hill...” Vila whispered into Hill’s ear, ”Don’t you think Queen Vila is a lovely name?”

She returned to swinging on her knitted swing, ”Indeed, Titania is wary of me among all the children for a reason, hehe~ I must be the child most like her... No, that’s not it; actually, I’m more like another Little Fairy Queen.”

She tilted her head and looked at Hill, ”You know, Hill? Titania’s sister, who got corrupted by the Ebony Diamond after unintentionally receiving the gift sent to Titania by the dwarves... now the Void Dark Queen of the Court of Sorrow and Rage.

She used to be the most beautiful, and the little fairy princess closest to the throne.

The Flower Fairy Queen before me.”

Vila showed a beautiful yet sharp smile, ”So... why am I the only Royal Family Member of the little fairies abandoned on the continent?

Why does my father Oberon feel so apologetic towards me, even willing to turn against Titania after my return?

Honestly, the moment I was born, my fate was sealed... I won’t let Titania always have her way...

Hill... If I had never thought of these things, I might have remained so happy... But during those thousands of years in the Ice Mountain, living under the influence of Amanata’s Golden Cup... that cup seems to have made me too smart!”

Hill sighed and slowly said, ”Then... Vila, don’t force those little fairies who dislike such things to go with you.”

Vila nodded absent-mindedly, ”Of course, I will act according to your wishes... But Hill, you really don’t understand little fairies... Endlessly pursuing social status is the daily life of a little fairy.

Most of the little fairies following me want to achieve a dreamland where they can rise to a high position through their abilities... not a completely equal place with no hierarchy at all.”

Hill smiled wryly, he had indeed noticed that, even here with Hill, no little fairy dared to bypass Vila and Oberon to communicate with Hill.

They would only speak to Hill after Vila had spoken up.

Perhaps because they possess nearly infinite long lives, so long that they sometimes feel bored, little fairies always need a goal; hence, social status becomes their pursuit.

But Hill doesn’t believe all little fairies would choose to follow Vila; there will always be those who are weary of such conflicts... Hill wouldn’t allow such unfortunate ones being forced around him.

Anyway, Vila has already made a promise to Hill, so he wouldn’t say more... Yet he sighed inwardly, knowing that not telling Vila about the half-plane nor letting her enter his pendant was indeed the right choice.

Hill doesn’t believe that Vila had this thought before the Magicplague... That cup indeed had a hidden hand on her... The chaotic Kalinsan is, indeed, the most prone to worship the Sun.

Suppressing his sigh, he reached out a finger to lightly stroke Vila’s hair, ”Vila, if you ever find things over there boring, Agleya will always welcome you back.”

Vila asked without understanding, ”But Hill, can’t I build my Fairy Kingdom in Agleya? Must I stay in Kalinsan?”

Hill revealed a wry smile, ”I certainly wouldn’t mind a little fairy realm appearing within my own territory... But Vila, not everything in the world goes as we wish... The desert’s return to greenery requires a long time indeed.”

Vila held her Small Magic Wand, a bit hesitant... She didn’t want to leave Hill for so long... But a peculiar sense of mission filled her little body... Even Vila herself didn’t realize she would awaken such a strong desire for power after understanding those past things.

She leaned her body toward Hill’s head, grumbling, ”It’s clearly all on one ocean... not being able to use a Space Gate is indeed annoying.”

Hill silently gazed at Vila, if it were the Little Flower Fairy from before this disaster, she would definitely think it too troublesome and not want to do it... Indeed, there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.
