Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 988: Chapter 784: If There Are No Fish, Shrimp Will Do—Each Has Its Own Beauty

The Undead Tribe didn’t plan to just watch those monsters smash their protective shield; they directly roared and charged down… Although not everyone had returned, the unexpected regional defense mission still made most interested people log in.

Especially those unfortunate victims, they, of course, wanted to regain the experience they lost… Hill remembered that any Undead Tribe that suffered from a plot kill would receive a two-hour double experience buff… When William gave them the choice between losing no experience and double experience, the Undead Tribe decisively chose the double experience.

However, due to it being a sudden event, the Undead Tribe went to battle in family formations… Although the ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ people were there, he silently followed at the end of his family’s team, occasionally casting an Ice Arrow Spell… It was obvious he was just mixing in for experience.

The live reporter aimed the camera at him several times, but this commander didn’t plan to step up and direct the entire army.

For Snow Old Dog, who understands the ways of the world well, commanding the army to attack the Underworld was a right granted by the Temporal Artifact. However, outside of that, any battle that wasn’t listed as an official battle by the Temporal Artifact, he wouldn’t meddle in.

As an old hand mixing with players for years and having been through countless games, ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ knew well that there’s no absolute king in the game… Though he could use tricks to make most people listen to him, doing too much beyond extras would only make people think he’s being domineering and dictatorial, flaunting his capabilities over everyone… By then, even during official events, there’d be those unwilling to heed his command.

He was getting on in years and surely didn’t want to confront people while earning some hard money playing a game… This was unlike the previous Doomsday scenario where everyone was unwilling to yield and constantly fighting each other. If it came down to a rivalry, or someone made him, ‘Snow Cloud Peak,’ into some kind of overlord to oppose, although it could be excitingly passionate for a year or two, eventually one side would inevitably quit the game.

That’s the human nature… He wasn’t paying anyone a salary, so who’d want to play a game and still have to take orders from the same person?

Even if he had millions in alliances… Eh, not to mention alliances could backstab… Those using him as a stepping stone could likely rally a large kill-dog alliance among friends.

It’s not like he hadn’t encountered it before… In his youth, he always felt that having most people in the game in his grasp was an honorable thing… Even if that group resisted, didn’t it also add to his fun?

But later he realized too, that someone like him from an ordinary family, no matter the means in the game, was ultimately making wedding gowns for others.

Those truly able to rally and call upon support in games were the big bosses spending money… But wealthy playboys like the one from ‘Doomsday’ boss, spending millions, even tens of millions, for fun could be found anywhere. To throw billions into making oneself a big boss in a large-scale game once in a few hundred years would be a miracle… And ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ did not have such luck to encounter this kind of miracle.

Although he did counter-trap a few back, but… sometimes the result of going too hard was that he turned from Young Master Snow into the current Snow Old Dog, collapsing a few games along the way… Actually, it wasn’t his fault. Even being the final winner, once the passion faded, there’d naturally only be weariness.

This game now, ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ really liked… Just analyzing the plot direction consumed a vast amount of his time, with no need to maintain his family members’ interest in the game… For most players, the fun brought by the game’s plot was enough to keep them hooked, without needing to divert their passion into mutual confrontation.

Therefore, Snow Old Dog absolutely refused to become a target again—well, not that he couldn’t now, but who knows in the future… When a game could no longer see the road ahead, only filled with fully geared and passionately peaked players, that was when the game was at its best; then a downhill path would just be inescapable.

By that time, ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ wouldn’t dare confirm what he’d do… But at least right now, unless he was chosen as the commander, he’d just play the wise Clan Leader, keeping Alliance matters to a minimum… Who wouldn’t want to be the boss when forming a family?

Forming an alliance wasn’t like finding a parent; still, deal with your own matters!

Even without a commander, the Undead Tribe fought with intense passion… It was indeed rare for them not to need to compete for monsters—last time was battling demons in the Supreme Forest, which was unfortunately plot-killed.

Yet to an observer, the Undead Tribe’s battle was evidently much more chaotic.

Fran couldn’t help but ask Hill, “What does William intend to do?” He was quite familiar with the combat style of the Undead Tribe; clearly, they were fighting individually now… meaning William, when faced with Rose, chose to take a step back rather than wiping them out at once.

No matter why Rose directly dispatched the Zholar, William seemed to choose not to confront immediately but to let the Undead Tribe handle it themselves.

Hill was silent for a few seconds before suddenly speaking: “List, tell Lynn, it’s crucial to have all my subordinate towns on high alert.

If it’s impossible to ensure that all villagers living outside the city can take refuge within an hour of the alarm sounding, begin preparing for temporary relocation now.

Haven’t we finished the spring planting?”

“Yes, sir.” List saluted before disappearing.

Although Hill evenly notified, he felt only Agleya’s side might have trouble… Luskan had few citizens; while they did employ some peasants for odd jobs, they guarded against half-orc raids, so they all lived in the city.

Only Agleya had a few outer villages… Lynn was willing to accept these foreign refugees to have them steadily farm, as the farmland scope was vast here, and daily upkeep was quite troublesome.

And the original citizens of Agleya were mostly Professionals, and their levels were not low, so making them farm was indeed excessive.

This was entirely different from the Undead Tribe.

The Toril people couldn’t understand why the Teraxil Elves would farm and plant for just a few Gold Coins, but as long as the Lord of Agleya didn’t intend to make them do it too, they could pretend not to see.

Fran solemnly stated, “If needed, I can step in at any time.”

Hill nodded with a smile, “Don’t worry, grandfather, I will.”

“Do you think Rose will send the Zholar to the surface?” Celene observed for a while, still a bit puzzled, “Where did you see that? How come I think they’re fighting quite fiercely?”

“Rose is well aware of the Undead Tribe’s combat power; the Bottomless Abyss and Hell have both been defeated by them, even though not the main forces from those places, but enough to destroy a world.” Hill responded softly, “The Zholar Family attacking the Undead Tribe this time is very evidently not forewarned; those Matrons’ demeanor is overly relaxed… They probably only know their mission is to stall for time.”

Celene hesitated for a moment, then slowly asked, “How did you see relaxation on those few emotionless faces?

And why does the screen always stay on the Zholar in the front that hasn’t joined the fight?

I want to see how they deal with the golems…”

Hill slightly twitched his mouth, “There’s a besieged golem in the lower-left corner, maybe it will move to the middle later, I recognize the besieging family, their family members are mainly Knights and Paladins.”

The Battlefield Family in the ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ alliance were hacking with swords and axes, even the Paladins had put away hammers and scepters, they’d figured out what this creature was afraid of.

The Undead Tribe had some experience dealing with large creatures… But not everyone could work it out that quickly; at least you could see spell glows flying around a golem in the upper-right corner.

Hill glanced sideways; the Battlefield Family was a staunch ally of the Magic Cult, often followed by their raging bull army… But as a pure warrior family, they complemented the Magic Cult, who liked playing magic-based professions, so there’d basically be no conflict… The Battlefield’s even lacked Priests, only having some Paladins for buffing.

Their Clan Leader also liked to charge ahead, his brain was basically entrusted to Snow Old Dog… Logically speaking, there was no need for such a person to form his own family.

But they insisted that plate armor was true beauty… Muscles were life’s pursuit; they’d even roared publicly before refusing a male Priest who wanted to join their family, saying men in robes were no men.

This was why Hill remembered this family so vividly… After shouting this, he was practically dangled on the big tree outside Central City every day for a while… As a Mage who was accidentally hurt, Hill himself went to hang out.

Even William dared not plead at that time… Hill sat on his Cloud Ship back then, becoming acquainted with all the Mages in Central City, even the then President of the Wizard Association, Draculus, went to hang this outspoken Undead Tribe member, while grandfather Fran, who was staring coldly at the screen, of course, pitched in as well.

But the guy was pretty straightforward; even when ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ advised him to delete his account and start over, he persevered until the Mages had hung him enough… Gloriously becoming the lowest level in the family, barely qualifying to enter the Starry Sky Gate.

“So why aren’t they focusing on the golems? Aren’t those the strongest enemies now?” Celene persistently asked.

Hill awkwardly laughed, yet still spoke the truth, “The person live-streaming is an impulsive young man.”

After a few seconds of thought, Celene suddenly realized, “Ah! I thought voluptuous curves were men’s true love?”

Hill fell silent; for men, it can only be said that if there’s no fish, shrimp will do; everyone appreciates different beauty, right?
