Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

For ordinary climbers, bypassing C2 camp on the North Slope of Mount Everest is already a hellish challenge.

Next, Li Younan dared not be careless in the slightest. Although he was live streaming, he had largely stopped joking lightly on camera, as he needed to concentrate completely on tackling the upcoming route challenges.

Meanwhile, in the live stream chat, guests and hosts began analyzing and explaining the core value of C2 camp: ”In the ascent of the North Slope, C2 camp is an important hub.”

”After all, climbing this kind of high-altitude peak requires an up-and-down approach to adapt to the high altitudes, reducing the risk of altitude sickness and preparing for the summit push.”

”And C2 camp is the last rest point before the summit, storing oxygen, food, and equipment there.”

However, the guest shifted the focus: ”For Li Younan, C2 camp isn’t that crucial. After all, he’s carrying his own backpack and necessary supplies, and he doesn’t need oxygen, so even if he doesn’t reach C2 camp, it doesn’t significantly affect him.”

”What Li Younan needs to focus on now is opening up the path and the potential dangers he might encounter while exploring unknown areas.”

In the next several hundred meters of altitude gain, Li Younan spent several hours.

Even so, he had to stay alert, allowing no room for oversight.

This route was filled with steep ice walls, unstable snow slopes, complex rocky terrain, and some crevassed areas.

Without extra pathfinding and road-building tools, especially in places requiring metal ladders, which he didn’t have, Li Younan had to find detours, thus slowing his pace.

Although viewers of his live stream were holding their breath, Li Younan himself remained calm.

Because, in truth, the main danger of high-altitude climbing is the limitation it imposes on a human’s ability to move at such elevations.

Were it not for these limitations, the same terrain at a lower altitude would likely not be considered dangerous.

Furthermore, while Mount Everest is certainly tall, its climbing difficulty isn’t among the very highest, not even on the North Slope.

There are many peaks more challenging than Everest.

His caution was simply a responsibility to himself.

However, performing high-intensity continuous climbing for eight or nine hours without oxygen at nearly 8,000 meters, the audience didn’t realize this and simply held their breath out of worry.

Nonetheless, he managed to pass through the detour area without incident.

At this time, checking his watch, the altitude had already reached 8,200 meters.

Climbing along a ridge route he had explored himself, Li Younan reached a cliff.

The cliff was about four to five meters high, with no snow on the hardened glacier.

Li Younan was confident this route hadn’t been reached by many explorers, and once past here, it would be just a few dozen meters up to the last base camp — C3 camp — before the summit push.

Li Younan then spoke into the microphone on camera: ”Hard work pays off. We just need to get over this cliff to see C3 camp.”

When Li Younan successfully climbed up, C3 camp indeed lay ahead.

It is well-known that the higher you go on a mountain, the less area there is to accommodate people.

C3 camp, also known as Assault Camp, is one of the few places at this altitude on the North Slope with relatively flat terrain, but overall, it’s a small slope surrounded by precipitous cliffs.

Last night, it snowed, covering the camp in deep snow, with only a few patches of black rock exposed.

There remained only 600 meters from here to the summit of Mount Everest.

It was already after 7 p.m., and Li Younan sat on the slope without moving the commercially owned tents set up in the camp, as those tents belonged to commercial teams who had paid for them.

Looking down from this vantage point, the sun had set into a thin layer of clouds, dyeing the entire sky in golden red hues from the sunset.

In the thin air, there was no dust, and visibility stretched for over ten kilometers, incredibly magnificent.

In the farther distance, layers upon layers of mountains stood, with the sun setting toward the western ridges, where its last rays refracted off the lower Rongbuk Glacier in silver brilliance.

Li Younan couldn’t help but adjust his angle and composition, taking a photograph and feeling very satisfied upon reviewing it.

This was the most satisfying photo he had taken since reaching Mount Everest, and given the photography mission he had in Rikaze, this particular photo helped him achieve further progress toward mission completion.

His progress on the photography mission was now 49/50.

He only needed to capture one more photo to complete this checkpoint mission.

Climbing to the summit of Mount Everest was also a checkpoint mission, and if all went well, he could accomplish both by capturing another masterful photo at the summit.

At this point, he needed to rest and recover.

Li Younan pitched his tent, used his high-altitude stove to cook the remaining food, which was enough for three meals — one for tonight, another before the summit push tomorrow morning, and the last one to enjoy at the summit.

He then turned off the live stream ahead of time.

For tomorrow is the last day before the summit push, and like most climbers who reach this point, Li Younan planned to set off at around 4 a.m.
