Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

For instance, he once climbed Gongga Mountain, saved someone, performed outstandingly in the show ”Alone in the Wilderness,” and possesses excellent skiing and parkour skills.

The introduction naturally included some praise, followed by questions for Li Younan, mostly about topics the audience would be particularly interested in.

”Younan, this time you are challenging an oxygen-free ascent of Mount Everest, followed by a rapid ski descent. I think our audience is curious as to why you chose this challenge. Everyone knows you have plenty of attention and opportunities to make money.”

Li Younan rephrased his previous conversation with Jimmy without altering the main idea and explained it again.

The host then asked questions like ”How long have you been preparing for this challenge?” ”Compared to Gongga Mountain, which climb do you find more difficult?” ”How easy is the path you’re currently taking?” Li Younan answered each question.

As the altitude increased, the host sensibly stopped asking Li Younan questions, not wanting to disturb his climb, and turned to chat with the guests in the live broadcast room instead.

The guest in the live broadcast room was also an experienced climber, though he looked a bit perplexed.

That’s because Li Younan’s climbing plan had an especially audacious label: solo.

Solo climbing without cooperation from the North Slope of Mount Everest is the ultimate challenge, requiring one to face all the risks alone, with a mortality rate far exceeding team climbs, and with very few successful cases worldwide.

Li Younan not only live-streamed the entire journey, but also carried heavier and more equipment solo, and plans to live-stream his ski descent after reaching the summit, highlighting the evident difficulty.

The guest was originally invited without much insight into Li Younan’s climbing details, so upon discovering that he was climbing solo, his shock was understandable.

After broaching this topic, the guest seemed to open a floodgate, engaging in a passionate analysis of how outlandish Li Younan’s challenge was.

He was an extremely professional mountaineer.

”The North Slope is already filled with ice towers, with high wind speeds above 8,000 meters.”

”Solo without support means no safety removal, no supply support, no emergency rescue; any mistake is fatal, and historically successful cases can be counted on one hand, akin to battling the extreme cold and hypoxia of Everest alone, where every step is a gamble.”

”In fact, not to mention Li Younan’s decision to ski down after the climb, just successfully climbing the North Slope of Everest solo has only been recognized once so far, by Reinhold in 1980, as a successful feat.”

As the host and guest delved deeper into the topic, the live broadcast viewers gained a more profound understanding of the value and risk involved in Li Younan’s challenge.

However, this portion of the discussion was not conducted while connected to Li Younan, so he didn’t hear it.

Otherwise, he would surely have retorted, ”It’s not as exaggerated as you say.”

After all, Li Younan was well aware that among those watching his live stream were likely Liu Li, Liu Yu, and possibly even his mother; having them think the journey was extremely dangerous wouldn’t be a good thing.

About two more hours passed before the live stream host and guest went offline, switching all visuals to focus on Li Younan.

Not long after, Li Younan returned to the transition camp.

...

The few people at the transition camp had been acclimatizing for three days, ready to set off for the forward camp early the next morning, when they saw a silhouette slowly approaching from afar.

”Wow, there’s another solo climber?”

One team member was somewhat surprised.

Any experienced climber knows that attempting Everest alone is extremely perilous.

Whether it’s the southern or the northern slope, groups of experienced climbers always team up.

Encountering a solo climber already left them astonished, though fortunately, it seemed that person wasn’t planning to summit Everest; they came and returned the next day, which was reasonable.

As they chatted about that person, they speculated that perhaps he only intended to hike to the forward camp.

After all, no one would attempt to climb Everest alone.

But as Li Younan approached and officially entered their vision, everyone was dumbfounded: ”Huh? It’s him again.”

Just like during his previous return, Li Younan greeted them.

This time, without even planning to rest, he set off again in a hurry.

The team couldn’t help but ask, ”Are you...going straight up again?”

Li Younan chuckled and said, ”I’ve already been delayed for two or three days, can’t delay any longer.”

Suddenly, someone noticed the Red Bull logo on Li Younan’s helmet and clothing: ”Wait, you’re sponsored by Red Bull? That wasn’t there before!”

Li Younan nodded, ”Earlier, I returned to base camp from the forward camp to retrieve the gear and labels they sent.”

”Huh?”

Everyone there knew what Red Bull sponsorship on Li Younan meant.

Even though they were climbing Everest, and had their sponsors too, but Red Bull! It’s Red Bull! No other sponsor compares to Red Bull.
