Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Li Younan looked at the screen with the startled host and smiled: ”I won’t chat with you guys for now, I have to go back and cook, I’m a bit hungry.”

...

When Li Younan returned to the camp again, he happened to run into the woman he saw before. She hurriedly ran past him, then hid behind a rock.

Li Younan was startled for a moment and suddenly realized something — she had an upset stomach.

Unexpectedly, the snow near the camp used for cooking was that potent.

He looked sympathetically in the direction the woman hid and sighed slightly.

At this altitude, experiencing such an infection, it’s almost impossible to expect to summit from the north slope.

Li Younan composed himself and started cooking his dinner.

First, he heated the ice blocks to dissolve them into water and brought it to a boil.

At an altitude of 7,000 meters, the boiling point of water is far below 100 degrees, only about 60 degrees, so Li Younan used a pressure cooker to raise the water temperature above 100°C, then let it cool naturally to prevent water vapor from taking away too much moisture, thus obtaining pure water after high-temperature sterilization.

In fact, the place where Li Younan collected ice was almost free from bacterial infection.

The ice and snow here, considering no pollution, are quite clean, all originating from atmospheric moisture.

And after Li Younan’s processing, there was even less need to worry about hygiene.

Viewers in the live broadcast room commented on his meticulousness upon witnessing this scene.

”As expected of our God Li, maintaining refinement even while climbing Mount Everest.”

After boiling the water, Li Younan poured half into his insulated flask.

This flask holds a large capacity of two liters; drinking hot water at high altitudes effectively alleviates altitude symptoms. Although Li Younan didn’t need it for altitude sickness, drinking hot water was always comforting.

The other half was for cooking, where Li Younan poured rice, mixed with some vegetables and dried meat, successfully cooking a pot of fragrant rice.

The cooked rice could be eaten in two meals. Li Younan packed half into a ziplock bag, which would freeze soon in such extreme cold, and he could just heat it with hot water for tomorrow’s meal.

With a bit of spicy soul sauce mixed in, Li Younan started a mukbang in front of the live camera: ”Guys, the real challenge starts tomorrow.”

After dinner, Li Younan changed the power for the live broadcast equipment, completed today’s broadcast, and hid in the tent to rest.

He also needed a good rest.

Tomorrow, he would head from Camp C1 to Camp C2, with the altitude rising another 760 meters, facing three major snow slopes and mixed rock and snow routes along the way.

The first 500 meters are gentle slopes but long routes, while the last 200 meters are extremely steep, making crampons walking very difficult, and passing through strong wind zones.

From what could be seen, the neighboring climbing team had already completed altitude acclimatization, and they also likely planned to advance to Camp C2 tomorrow.

However, compared to Li Younan, this team was climbing with oxygen, making the difficulty on a completely different level.

This was destined to be a sleepless night, although for the climbers outside, Li Younan slept like a log.

The next morning, after waking up, Li Younan organized his gear. At this time, no one else in the camp was awake. After gathering his things, he silently embarked on the journey towards the next target point.

In May on Mount Everest, it gets light around 5 a.m., and sunset is around 8:30 p.m. Beijing time, meaning daylight lasts for about fifteen hours.

He also checked his blood oxygen level, and the monitor displayed a reading of 97.

Li Younan sighed slightly, despite being very cautious about resting, his blood oxygen had dropped by 3 points. Reaching the Mount Everest summit, the blood oxygen level should not drop to around 94 or 95.

After a few hours of climbing, with the snow crunching under his footsteps, Li Younan crossed the three major snow slopes and in front lay the mixed rock and snow high-wind zone.

This was also the first relatively dangerous barrier Li Younan would face.

Li Younan squinted at the wind zone ahead: there was a narrow ridge passage here, with cliffs on both sides.

Because the entire terrain forms a natural trumpet shape, the narrowest part allows only one person to pass through.

This terrain creates a nozzle effect for winds of five to six levels, and when airflow enters the narrow passage from open areas, the air cannot accumulate and has to accelerate through.

Thus, the wind force significantly increases, even strengthening to levels 8 to 12.

If it were from January to March or after November, the wind speeds would reach a maximum, making passage almost impossible, but from May to October, the winds relatively weaken, allowing passage.

From a day’s perspective, the wind speed is relatively low before noon.

As Li Younan approached the wind zone, he heard the wind howling like ghosts from afar. Continuing forward, he even felt a nearly opaque, laterally moving wind wall formed by the wind zone.

This was not just wind; it was a physical barrier laden with ice particles.

Li Younan took a deep breath, stabilized his core, and stepped into the wind wall.

Instantly, he felt the wind pressure not only acting on his body surface but also trying to squeeze air out of his mouth and nose.

Li Younan was caught by surprise because he realized he couldn’t take effective deep breaths under such wind pressure.

He looked at his pulse oximeter and saw that his blood oxygen had dropped another 2 points, now at 93.

Just as he felt his breathing rhythm was about to be disrupted by the gusts, his instinctive muscles began adjusting his breathing instinctively.

He suddenly felt the diaphragm and intercostal muscles fine-tuning at a frequency and power beyond ordinary, competing with the wind for control over each breath.

Awesome blood oxygen capability!

Lest his equipment be blown away by the wind, Li Younan had already retracted the selfie stick for his panoramic camera, attaching the action camera to his helmet.

He took a deep breath; although his breathing rhythm was briefly disrupted by the wind, he noticed his body was adapting to this pressure.

After slightly adjusting, his blood oxygen started rising, to 94, 95, returning to 95!

Li Younan breathed a slight sigh of relief, his gaze once again becoming determined, stabilizing his core and continuing onward.

Just then, Li Younan saw another group of climbers.

He felt a bit complicated inside.

Honestly, he had encountered more climbers during this period on Mount Everest than during a full-loaded traverse in Western Sichuan...

What happened to the world’s highest peak, the forbidden zone of life, does that sound reasonable?

At that moment, amidst the wind came broken and wind-ripped cries for help.

Li Younan looked up and saw a climber’s oxygen mask blown away beside the route rope ahead.

The mask was caught in a crack.

The climber was clearly petrified, lying motionless on the ground.

Li Younan’s heart sank slightly.

The sudden emergency caused the team in front to stall, blocking the only route through the wind zone.

This also presented some trouble for Li Younan.

If he detours... his gaze drifted over the cliffs on both sides, filled with crevasses, increasing danger, but if he waits, his body temperature and stamina would rapidly deplete in the gusts.

In such wind, without thermal protection, the perceived temperature could drop to minus fifty or sixty degrees.

Li Younan knew clearly that since he didn’t need an oxygen mask and his blood oxygen was above the safety line, he was the only one on-site capable of offering assistance.

He took a deep breath, acting without hesitation, using incredible core strength to stabilize himself in the gale, and said calmly to the live broadcast equipment: ”Guys, plan’s changed, gotta save someone first.”

This wasn’t just about rescue but also clearing a path for himself.

And... since he’s already here.
