Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

The bottom of the tent is designed to be abrasion-resistant and waterproof. After taking out the tent, Li Younan secured it with high-strength ice nails and wind ropes, then opened the tent flap to go inside.

The space inside the tent is large. Li Younan placed his bag in a corner of the tent and took out a down sleeping bag from it. He then explained to the audience, ”This down sleeping bag is rated for minus 40 degrees. In reality, the temperature here doesn’t reach such extreme cold.”

Before laying the sleeping bag, it’s necessary to place a moisture-proof mat on top of it. In doing so, Li Younan set up his sleeping area for the night.

While there was still time, Li Younan began to show his other gear to the viewers off-camera.

Li Younan said, ”On Mount Everest, warmth and protection are very important.”

”Frequent climbers of Everest know that quick-drying underwear, fleece sweaters, windproof, and waterproof jackets and pants, and down inner layers are all necessary.”

”Additionally, you also need to bring mountain gloves, snow goggles, cold-resistant hats, and warm socks.”

Generally, commercial climbers don’t need to carry food and water, nor do they need to cook, so they usually only bring high-energy snacks like energy bars, chocolate, and compressed biscuits, at most a thermos and a gas canister with a stove to heat food.

But Li Younan is different.

Li Younan’s skills grant him a significant burden-carrying ability. After all, his burden needs to be reduced by a full 50 kilograms. In fact, even if a climber doesn’t consider lightweight equipment at all, the gear they carry won’t even reach half of that number.

So, Li Younan brought some items that ordinary Everest climbers would never be able to carry in their backpacks: a mountain stove, a portable pressure cooker, a bag of 2.5 kilograms of rice, dehydrated vegetables, and several kilograms of dried meat... just the food and cooking equipment alone weigh more than 10 kilograms.

Climbing Mount Everest is a task that consumes a lot of physical energy, so you have to eat well to have the strength to climb.

As Li Younan was taking out the ingredients for his dinner, he said to the audience beyond the screen, ”Honestly, I don’t recommend people to climb Mount Everest solo; there’s quite a lot of stuff you need to bring.”

Next, Li Younan prepared to cook. He took his portable mountain stove’s gas canister outside.

It’s worth mentioning that at the Everest camps above 7,000 meters, there are many materials available for use. Many climbers, after facing various issues, descend the mountain early, leaving behind non-essential equipment along the way. So, you can find many usable items. For instance, Li Younan found a folding table and a small stool.

Next, water needed to be fetched. Li Younan observed for a moment, his gaze landing on a steep ice wall several hundred meters away from Camp C1. The position is on a cliff, and only he could climb up there; ordinary people can’t reach it, and it’s not on the climbing route of Everest, so it’s nearly certain that no one would go there to relieve themselves. Also, the ice on the wall contains more water than snow, and just by chipping off some ice, there would be plenty of water.

Just as Li Younan was taking out an empty small bag from his backpack, preparing to get some ice, a woman from a nearby climbing team slowly walked over.

It’s hard for anyone not to be curious about Li Younan. After all, he’s climbing alone, and it’s been years since anyone solo climbed to the summit of Mount Everest from the north slope. The last recorded and recognized ascent was in 1980. There are plenty on the south slope, but it’s obviously not the same level of difficulty as the north slope.

”Hey, are you... are you live streaming?” The woman quickly noticed Li Younan’s streaming equipment seemed to be on.

”Yes, I am.”

”Did you come up here by yourself?”

”Yes.”

”No team, you’re climbing Everest alone?” The woman was clearly stunned.

By this time, the viewers watching Li Younan’s stream were frantically commenting.

”I just love watching those climbers’ bewildered expressions when they meet Li the God.”

The woman hesitated for a moment, then squatted next to Li Younan, eyeing his mountain stove and portable pressure cooker in front of him, her lips twitching slightly. The mountain stove looked noticeably heavy, and with the pressure cooker, it was simply absurd.

But what really left her incredulous wasn’t just the gear Li Younan was carrying. Climbers who haven’t set foot here at all don’t understand why it’s so difficult to solo climb Everest, and that is because of the provisions.

To know, climbing Mount Everest, even though the vertical drop from base camp to summit is less than 4,000 meters, and the distance is only a few dozen kilometers, it would take at most two or three days to cover this distance in the plains, but when climbing Mount Everest, this time has to be extended several times over.

One reason is that climbing Mount Everest involves going up and down repeatedly to acclimate the body to the altitude.

And when time is extended, it means you need more food, more oxygen, more supplies to accomplish this task.

The reason why climbing Mount Everest costs hundreds of thousands to have a climbing company provide support is precisely because of this.
