Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Later, there was a little incident on the downhill journey.

Monkeys are incredibly intelligent, yet they also possess a strong animal instinct. The mixture of their animal instinct with a touch of intelligence makes them very mischievous and highly vengeful.

When Li Younan was about to start heading down the mountain, the monkey king rallied seven or eight monkeys to chase after him.

Of course, calling it a chase might be an exaggeration, as they didn’t dare to rush directly at him. They just kept jumping up and down about ten meters away, grinning and baring their teeth at him.

Initially, Li Younan didn’t care much. Although noisy, he was too lazy to stoop to the level of a bunch of monkeys.

But the turning point came when the monkey king picked up a stone and threw it at him.

After dodging the stone, Li Younan was irritated.

He quickly climbed to a nearby robust pine tree, secured a safety rope, freeing both his hands, and then took out a slingshot from his pocket.

”Snap! Snap! Snap!”

Several mudballs were shot out in quick succession, immediately making the monkey king feel the love from the human father.

Once it felt the pain, it ran back, and Li Younan aimed another shot at its red behind.

After driving away the monkey king, the remaining monkeys were left perplexed.

Li Younan smiled while his gaze turned cold, making eye contact with the monkeys.

”Still not leaving? Do I have to eat monkey brains?”

Suddenly, the monkeys felt a primal fear, and after a few shrill cries, they finally dispersed.

On his way down the mountain, Li Younan occasionally stroked the little crow in his breast pocket.

This crow is of the raven species, considered the most intelligent among crows.

When fully grown, ravens are also the largest in size among crows.

Though still smaller than an owl, they are as large as ordinary raptors.

Of course, crows aren’t birds of prey. Their diet mainly consists of carrion, which is why some people see them as a bad omen—an enormous misunderstanding of crows.

Crows don’t prefer eating carrion. If fresh food is available, who would opt for that stuff?

Crows have an incredibly keen foresight for disasters. In fact, in ancient China, they were regarded as propitious birds. Especially in the Pre-Qin Era, black was the color of emperors, and the black feathers of crows with blue-purple metallic sheen were referred to as ”xuan” color.

Therefore, crows were also called Xuan Birds, which sounds very prestigious.

The view of crows as an omen mainly stems from Western cultural traditions.

Only in the 80s and 90s, influenced by some Western literary works, did the impression of crows in the country start to veer off course.

Crows are predictors of disasters, yet some people think they bring disasters, which is quite frustrating for crows.

It’s like ...

Crow: ”Humans, humans, a disaster is coming!”

Humans: ”Look, the crow brought the disaster.”

Crow: ”Damn you...! @#￥%*&*”

Nowadays, more people begin to understand these beneficial birds.

Though not protected animals, crows are also listed in the ”Three Haves” list, meaning they can’t be bought or sold, but rescuing a young crow and keeping it poses no legal risk.

Compared to owls, crows offer their own joys when raised.

Crows are smart enough to learn more amusing things, and like parrots or mynas, they can also learn to mimic human speech, speaking simple words.

At this moment, the little crow in his arms remained silent, but he could feel its gaze fixed on his face.

As he continued downward, Li Younan caught two plump beetle larvae from some dead wood and fed them to the young crow.

Thinking for a moment, he said, ”Your feather color is elegantly called xuan color; let’s just call you ’Xuanhuan’ (Fantasy) then.”

As he spoke, he playfully stroked the young crow’s head.

Upon reaching a platform near the ground, Li Younan buried the large crow, thus concluding this matter.

When he finally reached the ground, everyone was eagerly waiting.

Leading the approach was naturally the police, and Sorlung Tendro sighed in relief upon seeing Li Younan descend.

After all, from his perspective, Li Younan was not only a participant in the search mission but also a member of the public. If anything happened to Li Younan, it would be problematic, possibly doubling the trouble.

If the rescuer needs rescuing, the pressure on them as police would be much greater.

As Li Younan landed safely, the stone that hung over their hearts finally dropped, and what remained after the relief was admiration.

It’s hard to articulate with words the respect they felt for Li Younan at that moment.

Sorlung Tendro glanced up at the nearly vertical cliff face again, feeling a chilling sensation just from looking up. Who would have imagined that Li Younan had climbed it so effortlessly, without any ropes?

Footage from the drone even captured him playfully chasing a monkey.

After the praise faded, naturally, the next person to approach was Professor Zhang.

Li Younan took out the portable hard drive given to him by the raven and handed it to Professor Zhang, saying, ”Professor Zhang, see if this is the correct hard drive.”

In fact, finding a portable hard drive in such a remote wilderness practically confirms it.

Professor Zhang took the drive, noticing numerous bite marks presumably left by monkeys and signs of damage from being dropped. However, the drive seemed mostly intact.
