Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 245: Chapter 119: Farewell to the ”Second-Tier” Actress

The film crew’s staff were still negotiating with the owner of the ranch.

Meanwhile, Lan Yiyi was already feeling a bit bored, playing a game with her assistant.

The two of them were sitting on small stools in a corner, playing ”Honor of Kings,” chatting loudly about team fights.

Lan Yiyi was playing Angela. In one wave of team fight, she missed all her skills and got caught by the opposing assassin, Li Bai, who used his combo on her, making her scream, but she barely escaped with a sliver of health.

In contrast, the opposing Li Bai got ambushed by Jumping Tiger Han Xin and ended up giving away a kill when he tried to flash back.

Meanwhile, the team fight was won.

Lan Yiyi, with a lollipop in her mouth, returned to the fountain as her teammates gathered for a mid push, and the opponents surrendered.

She cheerfully pulled out the lollipop and said, ”Another win.”

The assistant said, ”Luckily in that last wave, you held back Li Bai, giving our marksman space to output, and they were all taken down.”

Lan Yiyi cheerfully nodded, ”I think so too.”

Having just won this game, she was in a great mood.

But seeing the time, opening another game might be cutting it close, so she put away her phone, stood up, and glanced towards the crowd, saying, ”How long are they going to be?”

The assistant whispered, ”I just went over and heard them talking. There aren’t enough horses at the ranch; we need to wait for some tourists to return from horseback riding.”

Lan Yiyi glanced skeptically towards a certain area of the ranch, where there were clearly several horses still there.

The assistant also looked over and said, ”The owner said those horses can’t be rented to tourists; they’re competition horses, with a more volatile temperament, so they’re afraid tourists might get thrown off.”

Upon hearing this, a peculiar smile appeared on Lan Yiyi’s lips. She stood up and said to the assistant, ”Let’s go over and see what’s going on.”

The assistant didn’t understand for a moment and asked confusedly, ”What are we going over there for?”

”Of course, to see that horse.”

The assistant was puzzled, ”Huh? Why are we looking at that horse?”

Lan Yiyi smiled but didn’t explain further.

How wild could a so-called untamed horse be?

Many in the crew knew she was from Inner Mongolia, but not many knew much about her family’s background. Their impression of her was superficial, limited to phrases like joining the crew with funding, poor acting, just a pretty face.

But since she entered the film industry, there were, of course, reasons.

When she was 5 years old, her dad would ride with her in one hand. Her family owned a ranch, and she grew up around horses, having seen even the wildest ones.

In her teenage years, she was already a well-known female rider in her area.

Praises from those around her grew, with many saying, ”This girl is like Hua Mulan reincarnated. In ancient times, she would have been a living female general.”

Amidst these incessant praises, Lan Yiyi gradually lost herself.

The seed of becoming a female general was planted in her heart.

If she could play Hua Mulan on screen...

However, although she too was from Inner Mongolia, compared to a certain famous actress, her road to the university entrance exam was not as smooth.

As a newcomer halfway through, she didn’t get into any performing arts schools but ended up at a regular university.

In her university, she did act in a few stage plays. Because of her passion, compared to other amateur student actors, she stood out a bit more.

She played the role of ”leading chicken in the flock” for a while, and the continuous sense of achievement gave her the confidence to step into the film industry.

After graduating from university, she finally persuaded her dad to invest in a few small scripts, officially stepping into the industry.

It was shortly after that she met Li Younan.

However, to her regret, although she started acting, the script of becoming a female general that she longed for had not come her way yet.

After that project wrapped up not long ago, there was finally a small script she longed for, with a scene set on the grasslands of Inner Mongolia where she could ride horses.

Originally, she planned to have her dad’s ranch sponsor the entire process. However, firstly, there weren’t many horse scenes in the script, and they would be here for just over ten days before moving to the next location; secondly, the filming required a birch forest scene, so they decided to rent some horses here for the shoot.

She knew well that there were no truly wild horses at such a ranch... or the kind of legendary wild horses like those mounted by Xiang Yu.

The so-called wild horses at the ranch were merely horses that paid more attention to their own feelings.

When tourists don’t ride well, the horse feels uncomfortable and resists.

Ordinary horses might endure discomfort, but more temperamental ones won’t and will throw the tourists off, thus becoming the ”wild horses” in people’s words.

But the root cause is that the tourists can’t ride.

Lan Yiyi approached the assistant director and others who were still negotiating with the ranch owner, and briefly mentioned she wanted to see those so-called wild horses.

The ranch owner naturally expressed concern, but since he was in business and this was a big order, it didn’t take much effort before he agreed to let Lan Yiyi take a look.

The assistant director knew Lan Yiyi could ride, but wasn’t sure to what extent her skills had reached, and worriedly asked her, ”Are you planning to ride the horse when you go look at it? It’s not necessary really, a few horses will be back soon anyway.”
