Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 221: Chapter 113: Staged Gains [7,600 Words!]

After the car had driven another dozen kilometers, Li Younan checked his phone; there was no signal anymore. Thinking back, they’d entered the area without signal about eight or nine kilometers ago, right?

If it were an Apple phone, the distance might be even longer.

The problem now is that after Old Chen drops the people off, he certainly has to turn around to find them.

And Old Chen’s walkie-talkie has only a range of 3 kilometers.

Realizing this issue, Qi Shunyi immediately called out on the walkie-talkie, ”Everyone, please wait a moment...”

All the cars came to a stop.

He jumped out of the car and sighed heavily... Dammit, what’s going on?

Such a simple route, causing so many unexpected issues.

They parked the car on a clearing beside a small road, and everyone got out.

Everyone was puzzled, Qi Shunyi gathered everyone together, sighed slightly, and explained the situation: ”Everyone take out your phones and have a look.”

Following Qi Shunyi’s reminder, everyone took out their phones, then heard Qi Shunyi’s voice: ”I think everyone’s phones should have no signal now. After Old Chen drops the people off, he’ll definitely turn back to find us, but our walkie-talkie has only a 3-kilometer range, and the area without signal is about eight or nine kilometers; following that, we’ll need to go another five kilometers before there is signal.”

After a pause, all present, being smart people, instantly understood Qi Shunyi’s meaning.

Xu Chengcai lightly furrowed his brow and said, ”I understand what you mean. To ensure Old Chen can catch up with the group when he comes back, one of us needs to go to the edge of the signal area to meet him, right?”

Qi Shunyi nodded: ”That’s the idea. However, everyone doesn’t need to worry; this matter will certainly be handled by our support team.”

”At that time, the deputy leader will turn back to meet Old Chen at the fork in the road, and we will continue forward. After walking over 10 kilometers, we’ll reach our first checkpoint, which is also a highlight of our crossing route: a Nameless Lake.”

”There’s a large clearing by the lake. Initially, our plan was for that place to be just a resting point, but everyone can see today we’ve encountered a minor issue, and the itinerary will be delayed by at least several hours, so I suggest we adjust our camp location to the lake.”

After hearing Qi Shunyi say this, the others didn’t have much objection, only Ma Jing pondered and asked, ”Won’t our subsequent journey be rushed?”

This question hit the point, Qi Shunyi hesitated for a moment, then nodded honestly: ”There are two options: one is to compress the rest of the itinerary, and we still finish the crossing in the originally planned number of days; the other is to adjust the number of days, extending the journey a bit so everyone can have more fun.”

Afterward, Qi Shunyi hesitated a bit, wanting to speak but stopping.

However, everyone present understood Qi Shunyi’s meaning. If the number of days were to be extended, the support team’s fee for the extended days would definitely be more.

Qi Shunyi didn’t make it explicit, but Xu Chengcai still conveyed Qi Shunyi’s meaning: ”I understand the leader’s point, it’s about whether to add money or not.”

He thought for a moment, ”Personally, I’m leaning toward extending the days; after all, it’s the first time out for most of us, so we should enjoy it a bit more. But that’s just my personal opinion.”

Soon someone echoed, ”I also agree to extend the days. What’s everyone else’s opinion?”

Everyone else expressed their views one by one, and they generally leaned toward extending the days; as for the increased cost due to extended days, everyone expressed understanding.

After all, the first day’s support was evident to everyone; Qi Shunyi and their team indeed did an excellent job in terms of support, whether in food or itinerary planning, making these newcomers have no worries.

Old Zhang was an exception, but that was purely his own doing, not related to the support team.

Ma Jing glanced at Li Younan, her eyes conveying an inquiring intent.

Li Younan shrugged, meaning he didn’t care.

Upon getting a definite answer, Ma Jing said, ”We also agree, I’ll pay the fee for both of us when the time comes.” Ma Jing still had no objections, proactively taking on Li Younan’s expenses.

After deciding this matter, a hint of a smile appeared on Qi Shunyi’s face.

Quite lucky this time; none of the caravan members were difficult.

Next is to meet Old Chen, Qi Shunyi said, ”Then let’s slowly move ahead, let the deputy leader go over there to meet him.”

The deputy leader and the chef were in a car together, that Great Wall Cannon loaded with supplies. The deputy leader nodded, preparing to set off, but Li Younan suddenly looked up: ”Hold on a second.”

Everyone turned their eyes over, Qi Shunyi smiled, ”What’s up, Brother Li?”

Li Younan shook his head: ”Meeting him halfway is too troublesome; it’s just two possible wrong turns at a fork...”

Hearing this, everyone had somewhat strange expressions. Qi Shunyi slightly furrowed his brows, not fully understanding Li Younan’s meaning, subconsciously thinking Li Younan felt Old Chen could find his own way over, then explained: ”Even though there are only two places with forks along the way, to ensure Old Chen doesn’t take a wrong turn, we must connect with him.”

Qi Shunyi was also a bit frustrated; this trip, because it was a simple route, they hadn’t prepared the maritime phone with the best call effect.
