Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 220: Chapter 112: The Price of Stubbornness

Li Younan picked up the walkie-talkie, his voice calm: ”Stay calm, Old Zhang. The tire pressure feels a bit unstable, check it out.”

It’s a reasonable excuse, but it can only last for a while.

Joking aside, Old Zhang’s poisoning won’t take long, and if he starts hallucinating and drives fast...

Sure enough, barely half an hour after departure, Old Zhang’s voice changed on the walkie-talkie, not angry anymore, but a breathless struggle amidst pain and fragmented sentences: ”... Stop, stop! I... I feel... can’t go on...”

The timing was right.

Li Younan immediately called out on the channel: ”Everyone stop! Old Zhang is not doing well!”

The convoy quickly pulled over.

Li Younan jumped out of the car and walked swiftly towards Old Zhang’s car.

He had already pushed open the car door, his face pale, forehead drenched in cold sweat, clutching his stomach, curled up in the driver’s seat, gasping, his eyes filled with fear and disbelief.

Seeing Li Younan approaching, he opened his mouth trying to say something, but suddenly pushed the car door open, staggering to the roadside, vomiting violently, his body uncontrollably shaking.

The scene suddenly became tense.

Everyone gathered around, their subtle glances and spectators’ mindset from before were now replaced by shock and a touch of fear.

No one spoke, only Old Zhang’s painful retching echoed in the valley.

Seeing this, Qi Shunyi frowned: ”This is bad, it’s really the mushroom!”

Honestly, from last night until just before, his heart actually leaned towards Old Zhang’s side...

In fact, he had also mistaken that mushroom for an edible boletus... Though it wasn’t called any Chobar mushroom, only out of his duty as a leader, just in case, he didn’t allow this mushroom to enter the pot.

But now it seems... he was wrong too.

Realizing this, he also felt some fear.

He immediately took out his phone to search for a signal, while decisively ordering: ”Old Zhang definitely can’t walk now! Must get him to a hospital immediately!”

At this point, the team member who was privately teased as looking like ”similar to Dao Lang,” Old Chen, stepped out.

Everyone called him ”Dao Lang Chen.”

Gray-white hair usually pressed under an old baseball cap, weathered face, yet his eyes carried a certain steadiness and street-wise aura.

The quiet young girlfriend beside him, who was in her twenties, looked at Old Chen.

”I’ll take him down!” Dao Lang Chen’s voice wasn’t loud but very determined, ”My car is fast, and I’m familiar with the road. Xiaomin follow me, can take care on the way.” His girlfriend immediately nodded, her face without a trace of hesitation.

”Okay! Dao Lang Chen, hard work! Quick!” Qi Shunyi immediately agreed, while finally dialing the emergency call, quickly reporting the location and situation.

Everyone hurriedly helped the exhausted and barely able to stand Old Zhang up from the ground.

His whole body limp, vomit stained his lapel, his face ashen, eyes scattered, earlier stubbornness and sulk vanished, leaving only immense physical pain and a sense of profound embarrassment.

When several people lifted him, stuffing him into the back seat of Dao Lang Chen’s Defender 110, he struggled to pass Li Younan’s side, incredibly hard, garbled a few words, heavy with sobbing and deep regret: ”Bro... brother... sorry... I...”

Words unfinished, another wave of intense nausea hit.

Li Younan patted his shoulder, said nothing, only gestured for him to hurry up and get in the car.

At this moment, pursuing right and wrong was meaningless.

Dao Lang Chen’s girlfriend Xiaomin quickly sat in the back seat to take care of Old Zhang.

Dao Lang Chen started the car, the engine let out a low roar, he nodded at the team leader and Li Younan, his gaze meant ”don’t worry,” then sharply turned the steering wheel, the car turned around, kicked up a trail of dust, and sped down the mountain.

As for Old Zhang’s car, it could only be temporarily left by the roadside, later he can come back to drive when he’s recovered enough.

The convoy returned to silence, only the sound of the idling engine was left.

The atmosphere was unbearably heavy.

At this point, Xu Chengcai chuckled: ”Remember at the dining table how Old Zhang told Li Younan and Ma Jing not to accidentally leave the team... Didn’t expect, alas, really shouldn’t raise flags...”

No one replied.

The eyes waiting to see a ”joke” disappeared, replaced by complicated emotions.

They silently watched the car that had left far away, then looked at Li Younan, when their gazes met, someone shifted their eyes away, some nodded slightly with a bit of seriousness.

Li Younan nodded, said no heroic words, just turned to walk towards his car. ”Let’s go, the road is still long.”
