Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 227: Chapter 114: Leisurely Traversal

Ma Jing was stunned for a moment, then looked out the car window, and retracted her gaze moments later.

She let out a small noise from her nose, unclear whether it was a sneer or something else. She gently tucked her hair behind her ear and calmly said, ”What kind of misunderstanding could there be?”

Li Younan spent about an hour attempting to craft a pair of bracelets from black jade.

At the moment, they were just two rings. Li Younan planned to do some delicate carving on them. After polishing, they already showed the essence of jade bracelets.

Ma Jing stared blankly at the jade bracelets and then glanced at the other materials scattered on the table. Her expression was somewhat complex: ”You really know how to do this?”

Li Younan stretched comfortably: ”Just practicing casually.”

Ma Jing had maintained a position for a long time, and now her legs were a bit sore, plus she knew it was time for her to get back in the car and rest.

She hesitated for a moment, then asked, ”What do you plan to do with these bracelets? Sell them?”

Li Younan smiled, packed the unfinished bracelet into a small box, and slowly began to clean up the scraps and waste on the table, shaking his head: ”Not selling, I’ll give them away.”

Ma Jing was silent for a moment, nodded, and comfortably stretched: ”Today was really a feast for the eyes. You should rest early, I’ll head back to my own car.”

Li Younan nodded.

Ma Jing got off from the rear trunk.

It wasn’t long before just as Li Younan was about to lie down, he heard the sound of a car and a blinding car light shot in.

He raised his head, only to see Ma Jing driving her car over, then adjusted the angle, and parked next to Li Younan’s car.

Ma Jing rolled down the window and said to Li Younan, ”Might as well park here, so if anything happens we can look out for each other.”

...

The night passed without a word, another night of restful sleep.

Notably, a torrential rain fell during the night, seeming somewhat noisy.

Two fellow travelers had dug a drainage channel that was too amateurish, and water flooded in. They fussed about for half the night, eventually settling in their car for the night.

Li Younan slept so soundly that he only found out about it the next morning. He found it quite amusing.

Xu Chengcai boasted, ”I told you, sleeping inside the car is the most comfortable.” It’s clear he’s deeply in love with his car too.

Li Younan squinted at the sky; today was another day of brilliant sunshine.

With nothing holding anyone back, they cleaned up the trash and continued on their journey.

...

Since they had already agreed to extend the trip, despite having delayed quite a bit of time and plans earlier, everyone continued to head toward the destination leisurely.

From Shimian to Jiulong, it’s only a mere one hundred and thirty kilometers or so.

But since they were traversing the entire route off-road, there were many challenging cross axles, potholes, or water crossings along the way.

Whenever there was a noticeably challenging spot, Qi Shunyi would go ahead, then park the car and use Li Younan’s radio relay to broadcast to the entire convoy.

Once everyone in the convoy was in place, they would pass through one vehicle at a time.

Of course, accidents happened, and Old Chen was the most unfortunate; his Land Rover Defender blew two tires.

Fortunately, he had brought two spare tires, but if he encountered another flat, he would have to wait for assistance.

To avoid becoming the second person to leave the convoy, Old Chen drove extremely cautiously on the following segments.

Ma Jing’s driving skills were better than Li Younan had imagined.

Although she drove slowly, thanks to her car’s powerful performance, she passed through some slightly dangerous spots without any mishaps.

Li Younan, despite not having awakened off-road driving skills, relied on his precise vehicle position sensing ability to deftly avoid many sharp rocks that could pierce the car’s tires along the way.

However, he also felt the limitation of highway driving skills compared to off-road driving skills, as the focus of these two types of driving differ somewhat.

But within this convoy, Li Younan’s skills were already considered quite good.

With all that effort, the scenery along the way was indeed worthy of their endeavor.

It was truly spectacular.

The scenery along the route was diverse, including canyons, rivers, forests, meadows, sea of clouds, waterfalls, and more, all of which were breathtaking.

Moreover, these remote places were only traversed by a few adventure enthusiasts and had hardly been touched by any modern industrial pollution, keeping everything pure and primitive.

Even though Li Younan didn’t particularly like taking landscape photos, he couldn’t help but snap quite a few pictures.

The most dangerous section of the route was probably crossing the 4800-meter-high pass.

The dirt road winding up the mountain had no guardrails and a cliff below.

What was more nerve-wracking was the occasional sight of a few car wrecks that had fallen below.

While driving this section, everyone’s voice on the radio became much more serious, avoiding jokes and focusing solely on topics related to the road.

Qi Shunyi said over the radio, ”Everyone, don’t get too tense. We’re lucky that the pass hasn’t seen snow for a while. As long as the car doesn’t slip, it’s safe. Let’s take turns passing through, watching out for each other, and everyone should go at a moderate pace.”

They ultimately passed through the pass without any mishaps.

However, the real challenge was not crossing the pass but rather the altitude here.

It was nearing an altitude of 5,000 meters here!
