Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 223: Chapter 113: Stages of Harvest

Old Chen had obviously done his homework. He said with a grin, ”Is this the Nameless Lake? They said we could kayak here, good thing I brought my kayak.”

It’s clear that Old Chen is a boat enthusiast.

After learning the plan was to spend the whole afternoon here, not only did he not object to everyone’s decision, but he wholeheartedly agreed with the arrangement and cheerfully fetched the kayak from the trunk.

Qi Shunyi went to the car to grab the fishing gear.

Witnessing this, Li Younan had reason to believe that Qi Shunyi was also eager to spend the afternoon here.

Because of Younan’s previous impressive performances, Qi Shunyi had a very friendly attitude towards him.

Qi Shunyi called Younan over and asked him, ”Do you fish?”

Li Younan smiled, shaking his head, ”Never tried it.”

Qi Shunyi chuckled while preparing bait and said, ”I’ve got plenty of rods in the car, I’ll get you one in a bit so you can give it a try too.” He then added, ”Playing outdoors without fishing is a waste, right?”

Several people present agreed with Qi Shunyi’s statement.

They all brought folding chairs, sitting in a row, and started chatting with smiles.

”This place is perfect, absolutely ideal for fishing!”

”Haha, wonder if we’ll catch anything today?”

”Well, regardless, let’s just sit here all afternoon.”

Seeing everyone’s enthusiastic demeanor, Li Younan couldn’t help but become a bit interested himself, so he took one of Qi Shunyi’s fishing rods and sat beside him, meanwhile setting up his phone on a stand to record himself.

Qi Shunyi enthusiastically introduced the fun sport of fishing to Younan.

Yes, Qi Shunyi considers fishing a sport.

He hooked some prepared bait onto Younan’s fishhook and, hand over hand, taught him how to lower the hook into the lake, intentionally skipping the complex float.

Next came the quiet wait.

The other men present were all keen on fishing, focusing intently on their lines.

Li Younan could sense that each person was secretly competing, wondering who would catch a fish first.

Younan had only casually fished once or twice before, so his experience was virtually zero.

Several times, he felt like the hook was moving, hurriedly twitching the rod, yet catching nothing.

He secretly hoped that as a beginner, he might benefit from some sort of beginners’ luck... to make a stunning catch.

If he, among these veteran anglers, were the first to reel in a fish, it would be immensely gratifying, greatly satisfying his vanity.

But unfortunately, there wasn’t that kind of luck in the world.

The men around him began catching fish one after another, yet Younan’s rod showed no signs of activity.

Soon enough, Qi Shunyi caught his first fish, a small fry not much longer than a finger.

Qi Shunyi removed the fish from the hook, casually tossing it into a fish basket, and said with a smile, ”This kind of fish is the most common here; it’s great for frying. Just process it a bit, remove the insides, coat it in flour and egg batter, and fry it up—delicious.”

He paused, chuckling lightly, ”Don’t worry, it’s not poisonous, just an extra snack.”

Li Younan froze for a moment, then both laughed heartily.

The lake indeed had a lot of fish. In the distance, Xu Chengcai was having a fruitful day, catching fish one after another.

Qi Shunyi also caught two larger fish in succession.

Li Younan didn’t know the types of these fish, and seeing everyone else’s success, he couldn’t help but feel a bit restless.

Finally, he felt a distinct tug from the rod, hurriedly lifting it; following the hook came out of the water, a fish was raised up.

However, he hadn’t had time to celebrate before the fish fell off the hook mid-air, the lone hook was pulled ashore, while the fish spun in the air and fell back into the lake.

Qi Shunyi comforted him, ”You were too hasty, it hadn’t fully bitten the hook yet.”

Li Younan felt a bit frustrated; even the action of lifting the hook contained so much technique.

If you pull too fast, the fish doesn’t have time to bite the hook; pull too slow and the fish may eat the bait and surprise you.

He sighed lightly; truly, that moment of lifting the hook was exhilarating, heart racing, like endorphins and dopamine surging.

Even better than a kiss.

This reveals that humans, particularly the male genetic makeup, undeniably have a hunter’s instinct.

The reward from a successful catch is one major factor driving human evolution to what it is today.

Unfortunately, fishing indeed requires skill, previously he didn’t see it this way, thinking fishing relied on luck.

Today, he’s completely convinced.

Qi Shunyi began patiently teaching Younan fishing techniques.

But they hadn’t been fishing long when the chef completed lunch.

Lunchtime was late today, almost 2 o’clock.

The sun sets early here, and today was cloudy, the weather had become a bit cold.

Everyone finished lunch and continued with free activities.

Qi Shunyi and the men continued to fish by the lake, while Old Chen pushed his kayak to the water, paddling solo towards the lake’s center.
