Divine Level Witch Doctor

Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others all remembered who Zhao Yuan was.

In fact, when they had first seen Zhao Yuan, they’d thought he looked familiar, but the idea never crossed their minds.

After all, in this age of information overload, it was hard enough to recognize celebrities who appeared on TV every day, let alone someone they had only seen a few times in online videos.

They were regretting it to death, but what good would that do?

Just think about what they had done.

They had actually mocked and ridiculed Zhao Yuan. They had looked down on him for being a newcomer at the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum and even lectured him to be more grounded, telling him to rely on his own abilities to attend the forum, not on some underhanded connections...

Recalling the things they had said earlier, Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others wished they could find a hole to crawl into and hide.

It was so damn embarrassing!

Yes, Zhao Yuan was indeed attending the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum for the first time. He was a newcomer. But this newcomer was far more impressive than ”veterans” like them, who had only attended two or three times before. They had only gotten the opportunity through their teachers’ connections, and even then, only as observers. But Zhao Yuan? He was an actual participant! He had even received a personal invitation from the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum! He was one of only eight people to hold a Level A invitation!

Now *that* was what it meant to attend the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum based on one’s own true abilities!

All their previous mockery and ridicule now felt like a series of resounding slaps across their faces, stinging and utterly humiliating.

The group was too ashamed to stay any longer. They lowered their heads, ready to leave.

But just then, several professors from Capital City Medical University appeared in the hotel lobby.

Among them were Tao Hua’s and Xu Qiu’s professors.

Tao Hua’s professor was also an acquaintance of Zhao Yuan’s—the renowned professor from Capital City Medical University, Qiao Zhixue.

Zhao Yuan was busy handling his registration with the staff, so Qiao Zhixue didn’t notice him at first. However, he immediately spotted the student he had brought to the conference and called out, ”Tao Hua, haven’t you finished registering yet?”

Seeing his professor, Tao Hua hurried over and answered with the utmost respect, ”I’ve finished.”

Xu Qiu also approached his own professor, Hua Xiangyang of Capital City Medical University, and greeted him respectfully.

Qiao Zhixue reminded him, ”How are the preparations for your speech tomorrow? It may only be two minutes, but don’t you dare underestimate those two minutes. After all, not just anyone gets the privilege of speaking at the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum. You must cherish this opportunity. There’s no room for carelessness, do you understand?”

Tao Hua replied, ”I understand, Professor. Please don’t worry, my speech is fully prepared. I’ll bring it to you tonight so you can help me polish it.” At the same time, he thought to himself: ’Professor is right. Not just anyone is qualified to speak at the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum. I must cherish this two-minute opportunity!’

At this thought, he couldn’t help but shoot a glance at Zhao Yuan, secretly gloating. ’Kid, so what if you got a Level A invitation? I’m the one representing the young doctors on stage! You can eat your heart out!’

His movement was so obvious that Qiao Zhixue noticed it. ”Who are you looking at?” he asked, puzzled. ”Is that someone you know over there?” He followed Tao Hua’s gaze toward the registration desk and immediately spotted Zhao Yuan, his eyes instantly lighting up.

Qiao Zhixue smiled and strode forward, extending a hand from several feet away. ”Well, well, look who it is! Student Zhao Yuan! Haha, it’s been too long!”

Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others looked on, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.

Who was Qiao Zhixue? A renowned professor at Capital City Medical University! A celebrated expert in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine!

For a Divine Level figure like him to proactively greet Zhao Yuan, instead of waiting for the young man to come and pay his respects?! What did that mean? It meant Qiao Zhixue didn’t see Zhao Yuan as a junior, but as an equal!

A young college freshman on the same level as a renowned medical expert? What kind of joke was that!

Tao Hua and Xu Qiu couldn’t believe what they were seeing, but the facts were the facts, leaving no room for doubt. In that moment, all they could do was pray that Zhao Yuan would be merciful and not rat them out to Qiao Zhixue. Otherwise, they would be in for a world of hurt.

Hearing someone call his name, Zhao Yuan turned and was delighted to see Qiao Zhixue. ”Elder Qiao? You’re here too.”

”What a thing to say. How could I possibly miss a grand event like this for the medical community?” After shaking Zhao Yuan’s hand, Qiao Zhixue introduced him to several other professors from Capital City Medical University before continuing, ”I heard you received a Level A invitation from the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum. I’m green with envy! At my age, all I got was a Level B invitation. I can’t compare to you at all! To think, when we first met in Jinling, I wanted to poach you for Capital City Medical University to be my graduate student. It looks like if the university wants to poach you now, a graduate student position won’t cut it. We’d have to offer a doctorate and a guest lecturer position at the very least.”

His words might have sounded like a joke, but Qiao Zhixue’s expression was completely serious. He was genuinely extending an olive branch to Zhao Yuan.

Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others were once again stunned.

They never imagined Qiao Zhixue would make such an offer to Zhao Yuan. Didn’t that mean Zhao Yuan’s abilities had already surpassed the student level, that he was qualified to be a teacher?

Was that even possible? How old was he?!

Zhao Yuan understood the invitation in Qiao Zhixue’s words and politely declined with a smile.

Hearing his refusal, Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others were completely speechless.

’That was an invitation from Capital City Medical University! A doctorate, a guest lecturer position... and he actually turned it down? Don’t you know how many people would kill for an opportunity like that?!’

Qiao Zhixue looked disappointed but didn’t press the matter. He changed the subject, ”I hear you’re speaking on stage this time? And for over half an hour, no less? Have you decided on your topic?”

Tao Hua’s jaw dropped. The last shred of pride he had clung to instantly shattered.

Zhao Yuan was speaking on stage too? And for over half an hour? Compared to that, his own two-minute speech was complete garbage!

In that moment, Tao Hua finally realized that comparing himself to Zhao Yuan was just asking to be humiliated, to be utterly crushed.

Zhao Yuan smiled and replied, ”I’m all prepared.”

”Oh? What’s the topic?” Qiao Zhixue asked, his curiosity piqued.

Zhao Yuan was being mysterious. ”You’ll find out then.”

Qiao Zhixue chuckled. ”Alright, keeping me in suspense, are you? Fine, I won’t press. Oh, by the way, let me introduce you. This is my student, Tao Hua.”

As he spoke, he turned and gestured for Tao Hua to come over.

At any other time, if his professor were introducing him to a Great God of the medical world, Tao Hua would have scrambled over eagerly. But right now, he didn’t dare move a muscle.

Zhao Yuan said, ”We’ve already met.”

He was kind enough not to rat them out, but the person in charge of registration spoke up indignantly on his behalf. ”Elder Qiao, so this young man is your student? Well, I’ll have you know that a moment ago, these people almost ran Mr. Zhao Yuan off, calling him a fraud!”

”Is that so?” The smile instantly vanished from Qiao Zhixue’s face. His expression darkened as he demanded, ”Tao Hua, what is the meaning of this?”
