Divine Level Witch Doctor

Kawashima Haruhiro had already given this question considerable thought.

Competing in Acupuncture was clearly out of the question; Kobayashi Haruo had lost to Zhao Yuan precisely in that area. Acupuncture was, without a doubt, Zhao Yuan’s greatest Medical Skill!

Pulse Diagnosis and Prescription Medicine were also off the table. Kawashima Haruhiro had studied the video of Zhao Yuan taking on the Jinling Zhao Family single-handedly many times. He was well aware of how formidable Zhao Yuan’s abilities were in those two fields! Especially Pulse Diagnosis—that suspended silk pulse diagnosis technique, which detected an insect laying eggs inside a piece of wood, was simply godlike and utterly astounding. Even the proud Kawashima Haruhiro had to admit he was no match!

This time, Kawashima Haruhiro wasn’t just representing himself; he was representing his entire school and lineage. Therefore, he could only win. He absolutely could not lose!

Kawashima Haruhiro’s greatest strength was diagnosis. The four methods—Observation, Inquiry, Auscultation, and Palpation—had long since been honed to perfection by him. He couldn’t beat Zhao Yuan in Palpation, but he was extremely confident in the other three: Observation, Inquiry, and Auscultation.

Among these, Observation was his greatest specialty.

Kawashima Haruhiro said without hesitation, ”Let’s compete in Observation! We’ll go to a hospital right now. We can only use Observation, no other auxiliary methods allowed. Whoever makes the most correct diagnoses in half an hour wins. How about it?”

”What? A competition of Observation?” Zhao Yuan looked utterly stunned, thinking he must have misheard.

In Kawashima Haruhiro’s eyes, this expression was mistaken for fear and alarm.

He couldn’t help but feel smug, thinking to himself, ’Haha, we haven’t even started, and this kid is already chickening out! It seems his Observation skill is nothing special. Maybe I can beat him by a huge margin today!’

How could Kawashima Haruhiro know that Zhao Yuan’s shock wasn’t from fear? It was because the event he had chosen for their duel was precisely the one Zhao Yuan was best at!

With his Qi Observation Technique, coupled with the Observation skills taught by Wu Peng in his Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis, Zhao Yuan’s eyes were more effective at diagnosing illnesses than an X-ray or a CT scanner. Competing with him in Observation? What was the difference between that and showing off your sword skills in front of Guan Gong?

Unfortunately, Kawashima Haruhiro knew none of this and continued to provoke him, ”What, you don’t dare to compete in Observation with me?”

Zhao Yuan smiled and said, ”What’s there to be afraid of? I’m just baffled. Of all the things you could have chosen, you picked Observation. Don’t blame me for not warning you, but this is my best event! Do you want to pick something else to compete in?”

Kawashima Haruhiro didn’t believe him, assuming he was just bluffing. He sneered, ”No need to change it. I’m going to defeat you in your supposed best event!”

Zhao Yuan chuckled. ”Mr. Kawashima, you seem very confident. In that case, let’s not waste time going to a hospital. We can compete right here.”

Kawashima Haruhiro was stunned.

’Compete here? There are no patients here. How are we supposed to compete?’

Before he could ask, Zhao Yuan spoke again. ”Mr. Kawashima, let’s start with you. From the looks of it, you’ve likely been experiencing frequent soreness in your lower back and knees, shortness of breath, and fatigue recently, haven’t you? Your body isn’t just showing signs of heart and kidney deficiency; your liver and gallbladder have issues as well. You really need to take better care of yourself…”

In just a few sentences, he finished his assessment of Kawashima Haruhiro, and every symptom he described was spot-on.

Kawashima Haruhiro was dumbfounded. ’How could he know I have these problems? Did he figure it out with Observation? In just a few glances? How is that possible!’

Zhao Yuan paid no mind to his thoughts. Using his Qi Observation Technique, he scanned the people around Kawashima, pointing out their ailments one by one. Each diagnosis was incredibly accurate, drawing gasps of shock from the individuals themselves.

Even Lingzi received a few comments from Zhao Yuan. The content of his assessment made her face change dramatically, and she cried out in alarm, ”How did you know I feel cold to the bone every night?”

Zhao Yuan shrugged and replied, ”Through Observation, of course.”

Lingzi found it hard to believe. Observation could actually reveal her hidden ailment? She had been by Kawashima Haruhiro’s side for so long, yet he hadn’t noticed a thing!

Zhao Yuan ignored her and moved on to the next person. With just a single glance, he described their problem.

The speed and accuracy of his Observation left everyone dumbfounded and in disbelief.

In an instant, everyone fell silent, staring blankly as Zhao Yuan rapidly pointed out the problems with one person after another.

The scene immediately grew quiet, with only Zhao Yuan’s voice echoing through the room.

After finishing with Kawashima Haruhiro’s group, Zhao Yuan turned to the surrounding experts and professors, performing Observation and stating his findings for them as well.

Soon, half an hour had passed. Zhao Yuan finally stopped his Observation and asked Yang Jingbo, who was helping to tally and verify, ”Director Yang, how many people did I diagnose just now?”

Yang Jingbo glanced at the number he had tallied and said in disbelief, ”One hundred fifty-two people.”

One hundred fifty-two people?!

In just half an hour, using only the Observation Technique, he diagnosed one hundred fifty-two people?

God, that diagnostic speed was astonishingly fast. Were those eyes or an X-ray machine?

Zhao Yuan nodded. ”About ten seconds per person. Okay, I guess that’s passable.”

Hearing this, everyone suddenly felt the urge to punch him.

’Ten seconds to diagnose a patient using only Observation, and that’s just ’passable’? Do you have to be such a show-off! If that result is merely ’passable,’ then what does that make our skills in Observation? Absolute trash?’

Zhao Yuan walked up to the already stunned Kawashima Haruhiro and said with a chuckle, ”Mr. Kawashima, it’s your turn now.”

”I…” Kawashima Haruhiro opened his mouth.

’How the hell am I supposed to compete with this?’ he thought. ’My Observation is good, but not so good that I can diagnose someone in ten seconds! And that ten seconds even includes the time to describe the condition! That means he has to confirm the diagnosis after just two or three glances at most! I can’t do that at all.’

Swallowing hard, Kawashima Haruhiro said, ”You certainly diagnosed a lot of people just now, but how do I know you weren’t just making things up?”

”That’s simple,” Zhao Yuan said with a smile. ”Everyone present is a Great God in the medical field. Any one of you could step up, contact a nearby hospital, and have everyone checked one by one. Wouldn’t that clear things up?”

At this moment, Qiao Zhixue stepped forward and said, ”Actually, there’s no need to go to such trouble. We’re all doctors; how could we not be clear about our own bodies’ conditions? I can testify that Zhao Yuan’s diagnosis for me was completely correct!”

Hua Xiangyang also stepped forward and chimed in, ”His diagnosis for me was correct as well!”

One after another, the people Zhao Yuan had diagnosed with Observation stood up and declared:

”Zhao Yuan’s diagnosis for me was correct!”

”Mine was correct too! I’d stake my reputation on it!”

”There wasn’t a single error in mine either!”

Listening to them, Kawashima Haruhiro desperately wanted to ask if they were all in on it with Zhao Yuan, but in the end, he didn’t dare say it out loud.

He knew that everyone present was a prominent, respected figure in the medical community! Even if they favored Zhao Yuan, they would never help him cheat!

’How can this kid’s Observation Technique be so monstrously good?’ Kawashima Haruhiro was filled with immense regret. ’Why, of all things, did I have to pick Observation?’
