Divine Level Witch Doctor

Even though he knew Zhao Yuan was a genius, Liu Mingzhang still couldn’t believe the words he’d just spoken.

’Kawashima Haruhiro’s illness will only get worse, and it’s impossible to cure?’

’How is that possible? His illness is a bit strange, but it can’t be an incurable terminal disease, can it?’

Liu Mingzhang wanted to ask more questions, but Zhao Yuan had already left Kawashima Haruhiro’s examination room and gone to the adjacent doctor’s office to rest.

Of course, on the surface, he was resting with his head on the desk. In reality, however, he had activated the Concentration Technique and was studying *Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis* from the Information Leaf.

He was almost finished with the book, with only the ”Diagnosis and Case Studies” section remaining. By his estimation, he should be able to complete *Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis* within the next two days. However, he also knew that *Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis* was merely a general overview of diagnostics. Afterward, there were still more specialized topics, such as surgery, internal medicine, gynecology, and pediatrics within Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In short, he still had much to learn.

He was well aware that defeating Kawashima Haruhiro this time didn’t mean his own medical skills had surpassed his rival’s. In fact, an element of luck had been involved in both duels.

The prior Auscultation, and even the Observation, happened to be the areas where he excelled. As for Liu Lili’s illness, it would have been extremely difficult for an ordinary person to handle, but for him, there was a solution. If Kawashima Haruhiro had chosen a different patient, however, even with a ”cheat” like the legacy of Wu Peng, it would have surely taken him a great deal more effort to find a cure.

’To put it bluntly, my own skills are still lacking!’

’To become a Witch Doctor, medical skill is the foundation, and the key.’

Zhao Yuan was never one to grow arrogant easily. He understood his situation clearly, which was why he seized every available moment to study.

Time ticked by, and soon, it was evening.

The people watching the livestream were astonished to find that Zhao Yuan had spent the entire day with his head down in the doctor’s office. The guy woke up for a bit to eat, but right after his meal, he went back to sleeping on the desk.

People were rendered speechless by his behavior.

He was in a competition! A highly anticipated one, at that! How could he be so listless? Had he really given up and decided to just throw it all away?

Meanwhile, inside the examination room, Liu Lili had been sleeping soundly ever since drinking the Gui Pi Soup prescribed by Zhao Yuan.

Previously, Xiaochengcheng’s presence in her body had consumed a great deal of her Primordial Qi. This couldn’t be replenished with just medicine; she also needed to recuperate through rest. The needles Zhao Yuan had used on her earlier had a hypnotic, calming effect, which was why she had slept straight through until dark.

No one connected Liu Lili’s deep sleep with her condition improving, just as no one believed Zhao Yuan could possibly cure her.

In stark contrast to the tranquility of Zhao Yuan and Liu Lili, Kawashima Haruhiro had been bustling about all day.

In the ten-odd hours from the start of the competition until nightfall, Kawashima Haruhiro had prescribed himself over twenty different formulas. The medicinal soups he downed did nothing but give him a stomachache from being too full; they had no other effect whatsoever.

He had also tried other methods like Acupuncture and moxibustion. But just like with the decoctions, they had absolutely no effect!

All his frantic efforts not only failed to produce any sign of improvement but also left him utterly exhausted. His spirit grew weary, his Qi became more chaotic, and his face turned a sallow yellow, looking unnervingly like a Zombie.

Kawashima Haruhiro’s condition was a resounding slap in the face to everyone who had thought Zhao Yuan chose him as a patient just to give up and concede defeat.

Without a doubt, they had all been slapped in the face by Zhao Yuan!

Seeing Kawashima Haruhiro’s treatment fail yet again, and watching him slump to the floor with lifeless eyes, the crowd couldn’t hold back any longer and broke into discussion once more.

Who knew how many times such discussions had broken out today.

”What in the world is wrong with Kawashima? He’s taken so much medicine and even tried Acupuncture, moxibustion, and massage, yet nothing’s worked. Look at him! He’s far more haggard than he was this morning!”

”Isn’t it a depletion of upright Qi and a collapse of Yang Qi?”

”Give me a break. Kawashima’s illness is definitely not that simple. Otherwise, why would all the medicine, Acupuncture, and moxibustion he’s tried have no effect? Hey, tell me, do you think Zhao Yuan chose him as a patient out of sheer luck, or did he actually see from the very beginning that Kawashima’s illness was anything but ordinary?”

”I think Zhao Yuan must have seen it from the very beginning. If you think back on what he said this morning when he chose Kawashima as his patient, it’s clear he already knew the illness was out of the ordinary.”

”Leaving everything else aside, Zhao Yuan’s diagnostic skills are just insane!”

”Yeah, if it were any of us, we’d never have spotted anything odd about Kawashima’s illness. Oh, by the way, there are videos online of his Auscultation and Observation duels against Kawashima. You should check them out. Zhao Yuan performs those diagnostics with the flair of an acrobat!”

”This duel is probably going to end in a draw.”

Just then, someone suddenly asked, ”Why a draw? Can’t Zhao Yuan win?”

The chatter died down for a moment, then erupted into uproarious laughter.

”A person shouldn’t be too greedy. Getting a draw would be a great outcome.”

”That’s right. From start to finish, Zhao Yuan has only prescribed Gui Pi Soup and Eight Treasure Ointment. We already saw that those two medicines are useless for Liu Lili’s condition. So, his treatment of her is bound to fail!”

”Securing a draw is the best possible outcome here. And even for that to happen, we have to pray that Kawashima doesn’t find an effective treatment in the time remaining.”

Hearing the crowd’s mockery and analysis, the person who had suggested Zhao Yuan could win started to waver.

Just then, everyone watching the livestream saw Zhao Yuan, who had been ”sleeping” at the desk in the doctor’s office, finally open his eyes.

The day of study left Zhao Yuan feeling very fulfilled. However, without the Soul-Stabilizing Incense, his brain couldn’t relax as he learned. He had now reached a state of mental exhaustion and needed to rest a bit before continuing. Otherwise, his learning would not only be inefficient, but he might also start confusing the concepts he had just absorbed.

Zhao Yuan looked up at the clock on the office wall and clicked his tongue. ”Almost eight o’clock already? Time really flies. I should go check on Liu Lili’s condition.”

Upon hearing this, everyone, whether present at the scene or watching the livestream, couldn’t help but roll their eyes.

’So he *does* remember he has a patient named Liu Lili? We saw him sleeping this whole time and thought he’d forgotten all about her!’
