Divine Level Witch Doctor

The people from West Hua Medical University weren’t worried this would cause trouble for Zhao Yuan. As the leading authority on the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor*, even if these people had issues with Zhao Yuan, they had to keep it to themselves! Not only that, they had to suck up to him and try to get on his good side.

What does it mean for overwhelming power to defeat all techniques?

This was it!

As long as you were skilled and powerful enough, others could only look up to you in awe! Any complaints, any dissatisfaction, had to be buried deep and never expressed.

The on-stage proceedings concluded quickly, and just like that, the opening ceremony for the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum was over.

Starting this afternoon, a four-day series of conference sessions would begin, dedicated to discussing medical developments over the past three years and other related topics.

Although the opening ceremony was over, the crowd around Zhao Yuan showed no signs of dispersing. Even with the people from West Hua Medical University blocking them, they didn’t give up on trying to get closer to Zhao Yuan and build a connection.

Qiao Zhixue came over as well, and the people from West Hua Medical University didn’t stop him. After all, he hadn’t mocked Zhao Yuan before and had actually been quite supportive.

However, they soon regretted that decision.

The moment Qiao Zhixue saw Zhao Yuan, he eagerly extended an invitation. ”Zhao Yuan, how about you come to my Capital City Medical University and teach a course on the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor*? As for compensation and benefits, you can name your price!”

Ma Guotao’s face went pale with rage. Before Zhao Yuan could even reply, he was already roaring, ”Old Qiao, what is the meaning of this? You keep poaching our talent, one after another. Have you gotten addicted to it or something? Believe it or not, I’ll have you thrown out of here this instant!”

Principal Ma was clearly furious. ’Damn it, I haven’t even invited Zhao Yuan myself and you’ve already jumped in? Are you trying to cut me off at the pass?’

But Qiao Zhixue was just as stubborn, retorting, ”So what if I am poaching your talent? Zhao Yuan is so outstanding, it’d be stranger if no one tried to recruit him!”

Ma Guotao flew into a rage at his words. However, before he could do or say anything, Qiao Zhixue’s remark seemed to have reminded the other heads of universities and hospitals, who all began to clamor:

”Zhao Yuan, come teach a course on the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor* at our Jiangcheng College of Traditional Chinese Medicine! We’ll give you the absolute best compensation and guarantees!”

”You’d be better off at our Jinmen Medical College! We’re a well-established institution with a rich history. Once you’re here, you’re guaranteed to love it!”

”Zhao Yuan, you’re from the Shu Region. You’ll never get used to life up north. Come to our Mountain City Medical College! With our lifestyle, you’ll feel right at home, like a fish in water! Besides, we’re straightforward people. We guarantee we’ll give you the best of everything!”

Hearing so many medical colleges and universities jump into the fray to poach Zhao Yuan for lectures, joined by numerous renowned, top-tier hospitals wanting to hire him, Ma Guotao’s face went from livid to practically black. He nearly fainted from pure rage.

Thankfully, Zhao Yuan didn’t let him down, and he politely declined everyone’s invitation.

Ma Guotao breathed a long sigh of relief. He shot a look at the West Hua Medical University contingent, signaling them to quickly escort Zhao Yuan away, while announcing, ”Zhao Yuan is a bit tired after his speech and needs to go rest. Everyone, please stop crowding around. Make way, please.”

He didn’t dare let Zhao Yuan stay there a moment longer.

’Right now, Zhao Yuan is like Tang Monk’s Flesh—everyone here wants to take a bite! Zhao Yuan might be loyal, but in this world, you can never be too careful. It’s better to get him out of here, fast.’

Everyone was left speechless by Ma Guotao’s excuse.

Tired from giving a speech? Did he think Zhao Yuan was an old man in his seventies or eighties? Besides, looking at him now, his Essence, Qi, and Spirit were clearly flourishing. He didn’t look the least bit tired.

But for all their silent complaints, they had no choice but to make way.

There was nothing to be done. Ma Guotao was willing to throw all decorum to the wind, but they couldn’t bring themselves to do the same.

But just then, a group of people appeared, blocking Zhao Yuan’s path.

Seeing this group, the faces of Ma Guotao and his companions instantly darkened.

Because the newcomers were none other than Kawashima Haruhiro and his entourage.

Zhao Yuan raised an eyebrow. ’Just as I expected,’ he thought. Out loud, he said, ”Mr. Kawashima. To what do we owe the pleasure?”

”I came to congratulate you, Mr. Zhao. Your lecture on the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor* was simply brilliant.”

Kawashima Haruhiro’s face was wreathed in smiles. Anyone who didn’t know the history between the two men would have thought he was genuinely happy for Zhao Yuan. In truth, he was giddy at the thought that once he defeated Zhao Yuan, all of this attention, all of this glory, would be his.

After all, what could be more satisfying than humiliating someone at their moment of greatest triumph and using them as a stepping stone to the top?

And what could be more exhilarating than doing it on their own home turf?

As far as Kawashima Haruhiro was concerned, that was exactly what he was about to do.

Zhao Yuan let out a cold laugh. ”Alright, Mr. Kawashima, don’t you feel a bit hypocritical saying all this? If you want to challenge me, if you want to avenge Kobayashi Haruo, just come out and say it.”

Kawashima Haruhiro dropped the act. His expression turned serious as he said, ”Mr. Zhao, you are indeed straightforward. In that case, I won’t beat around the bush either! I am here representing the Genji School of the Qu Zhelei School of Japanese Traditional Chinese Medicine, and I am issuing you a challenge. I just wonder if you have the guts to accept!”

As he spoke, a person beside him held up a phone, livestreaming the confrontation online.

It had to be said, Kawashima Haruhiro and Kobayashi Haruo were truly cut from the same cloth. Both of them loved to livestream their challenges. Of course, this was a huge part of their personalities—they were the type who couldn’t wait to show off their most impressive and arrogant side to the world at the earliest possible moment.

They were also incredibly arrogant, never once considering the possibility that they might be defeated and humiliated.

However, Kobayashi Haruo had already learned this lesson the hard way at Zhao Yuan’s hands. Unfortunately, Kawashima Haruhiro hadn’t taken the hint.

”Mr. Kawashima, you can spare me the goading tactics,” Zhao Yuan said in a low voice. ”I’ve told you before: if you want revenge, bring it on. I’m ready whenever you are!”

The surrounding crowd erupted into an uproar. They were well aware of how skilled a physician Kawashima Haruhiro was. As incredible as Zhao Yuan was, he still seemed to be at a slight disadvantage when compared to Kawashima.

But despite their worries, no one tried to talk him out of it. Everyone knew that backing down now would mean the complete ruin of his reputation. His only choice was to grit his teeth and fight. If he gambled, there was still a chance he could win.

Zhao Yuan, however, had no such concerns. He was completely confident in his own abilities.

’Kawashima Haruhiro, if you knew what was good for you, I might have let you off the hook. But you just had to court death, insisting on avenging Kobayashi Haruo. In that case, don’t blame me for making you follow in his footsteps!’

After sneering inwardly, Zhao Yuan asked, ”And how, I wonder, does Mr. Kawashima propose we compete?”
