Divine Level Witch Doctor

Kawashima Haruhiro had been secretly sizing up Zhao Yuan. Seeing his furrowed brow, he was certain Zhao Yuan was stumped by Liu Lili’s condition. The corner of his mouth curled up, and he gloated inwardly, ’Dumbfounded, are we? Why aren’t you laughing now? Go on, I dare you to keep laughing!’

Seeing so many strangers, Liu Lili seemed a little scared. She curled up and shrank back.

It took the combined effort of Chen Kaihua and several relatives to hold her down and keep her from running away.

Liu Lili struggled, shouting, ”Let go of me! I don’t want to be here! Where’s my doll? I want my doll!”

Hearing Liu Lili’s voice, many people couldn’t help but shudder.

She was clearly an adult woman, yet the voice coming from her mouth was that of a little boy. Her expression and movements were also unmistakably boyish. Her strength, however, was astonishing. It took several grown men, including Chen Kaihua, to barely restrain her—this was not the kind of strength an ordinary woman could possess.

Liu Lili’s bizarre condition was hair-raising.

Even while restrained, Liu Lili continued to struggle, yelling at Chen Kaihua, ”Dad, I don’t want to be here! Take me away! Get me out of here!”

While trying to soothe the agitated Liu Lili, Chen Kaihua explained to the crowd, ”Ever since our son passed away in an accident, my wife occasionally thinks she’s our deceased son.”

Xiao Xianlin sighed and said, ”This is a classic case of schizophrenia. The patient’s excessive grief and worry over her son’s death caused a split, creating a second personality. However, Liu Lili’s second personality is extremely stubborn and very difficult to treat.”

Liu Lili’s schizophrenia was well-known, so Xiao Xianlin’s remarks did not violate any rules, and the practitioners of Japanese Traditional Chinese Medicine did not protest.

Zhao Yuan remained silent, pondering, ’Schizophrenia? A second personality? Wrong! This is clearly a case of usurpation—two souls in one body! The one controlling her physical form and speaking right now isn’t Liu Lili herself, but her son!’

Through observation, Zhao Yuan discovered that while the Ghost was controlling Liu Lili’s body, Liu Lili herself showed no signs of resistance. From this, he could deduce that this ”two souls in one body” situation was likely consensual on Liu Lili’s part. It was even possible that she had actively drawn her son’s Ghost Soul into her body!

”This is troublesome,” Zhao Yuan muttered under his breath.

If a body was forcibly possessed by a Ghost Soul and the host strongly resisted it, exorcism would be much easier. But a willing host was a different matter entirely. In a situation like this, not only would he have to suppress the Ghost Soul, but he would also have to suppress Liu Lili!

But as troublesome as it was, it wasn’t hopeless.

Seeing how fiercely Liu Lili was resisting and that Chen Kaihua and the others were beginning to lose their grip, Zhao Yuan said, ”Take her to the diagnostic room next door for now. I’ll come over to treat her in a bit.”

Chen Kaihua was stunned.

He had agreed to Kawashima Haruhiro’s request to bring Liu Lili to this medical competition for the sole purpose of letting that incredible doctor Kawashima Haruhiro had mentioned take a look at his wife.

Although he wasn’t very confident, he still harbored a sliver of hope.

Just moments ago, he was still wondering who Kawashima Haruhiro’s opponent was. In his mind, it had to be an older expert with a wealth of theoretical knowledge and clinical experience.

But Zhao Yuan’s words indicated that *he* was the one who was going to treat Liu Lili.

Chen Kaihua couldn’t help but look Zhao Yuan up and down, thinking, ’This young man doesn’t look a day over twenty. Can he really cure Lili?’

Chen Kaihua shook his head.

Even though he knew Zhao Yuan’s medical skills couldn’t be poor if he was Kawashima Haruhiro’s opponent, he still couldn’t bring himself to believe that Zhao Yuan could cure his wife.

After all, so many experts and professors had been helpless against Liu Lili’s illness. Any one of them had been practicing medicine for more years than Zhao Yuan had been alive!

If these long-famous doctors were useless, what chance did Zhao Yuan have, no matter how much of a genius he was?

After all, age and experience counted for a lot!

’A wasted trip,’ Chen Kaihua sighed to himself. Still, he followed Zhao Yuan’s instructions and, with his relatives, took Liu Lili to the diagnostic room next door.

He didn’t leave right away because he wanted to wait until the competition was over and ask the medical experts present for a group consultation.

He might not have much faith in Zhao Yuan, but those present today were all famous doctors from China and Japan. What if they could come up with some kind of plan together?

Liu Lili was led away, but the people in the room and those watching the livestream were still discussing the woman who exuded such a strange and eerie aura.

Kawashima Haruhiro looked at Zhao Yuan and sneered, ”Lord Zhao, from the looks of your long face, don’t tell me you were frightened by Liu Lili’s condition? I thought you would have come up with a plan over the past two days. It seems I overestimated you. I suggest you give up now. You can’t possibly cure Liu Lili anyway, so why waste time and effort just to embarrass yourself?”

Zhao Yuan gave an incredulous laugh. ”Who told you I was frightened by Liu Lili’s condition? Yes, her illness is tricky, but it’s not untreatable.”

Kawashima Haruhiro was startled. ’Has he really found a way? No, that’s impossible! He must be bluffing!’

With this thought in mind, he looked at Zhao Yuan and saw someone who was all bark and no bite.

Kawashima Haruhiro snorted. ”It seems, Lord Zhao, you’re one of those who has to see the coffin to shed a tear.” He then added with feigned sincerity, ”Fine, I won’t try to persuade you anymore. I wish you the best of luck with those methods you’ve come up with. Let’s hope they actually have some effect on Liu Lili’s illness! Oh, by the way, where is your patient? Why aren’t they here yet? Don’t tell me they ran off on the way here?”

With the exception of the people from West Hua Medical University, everyone else was wondering the same thing.

Qiao Zhixue said, ”That’s right, Zhao Yuan, why isn’t your patient here yet? Why don’t you give them a call and hurry them along?”

Kobayashi Yuansan’s face was grim. ”According to the agreement, the competition will begin promptly at ten o’clock. There are less than ten minutes left. If your patient cannot arrive before ten, you will be judged to have lost this competition.”

Kawashima Haruhiro said, in a tone that was seemingly kind but actually provocative, ”Lord Zhao, if your chosen patient doesn’t arrive on time, I’ll allow you to select a new one from this hospital. That way, you won’t have any complaints after I win without a fight.”

Zhao Yuan wasn’t angry.

’Why get angry with someone who doesn’t have long to live?’

”Mr. Kawashima, I appreciate your kindness, but that won’t be necessary. The patient I’ve chosen is already here.”

Zhao Yuan’s words left everyone in the room and watching the livestream completely stunned.

Kawashima Haruhiro glanced around, his voice dripping with sarcasm. ”The patient is already on-site? How come I don’t see them? Lord Zhao, has the pressure finally gotten to you? Have you lost your mind?”

Zhao Yuan raised a hand and pointed right at him. ”The patient I’ve chosen... is you!”
