Divine Level Witch Doctor

Everyone in the room was stunned!

It was as if an invisible hand had suddenly clamped around the necks of Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others, cutting off their taunts and jeers. They all stared wide-eyed, looking in disbelief at Zhao Yuan and the invitation held reverently in the staff member’s hands.

The scene grew incredibly awkward.

After a long moment, Xu Qiu was the first to snap out of it, saying in disbelief, ”He really has an invitation? And it’s Level A? How is that possible!”

Tao Hua was even more certain it was a fake. ”The Chinese Medical Exchange Forum only issues an extremely limited number of invitations each year, to say nothing of the top-tier Level A invitations. As far as I know, since the forum’s inception, only seven Level A invitations have ever been given out. Every single recipient is someone who has made immense contributions to the medical field. This kid is just a first-year university student. Forget a Level A invitation, he wouldn’t even be qualified to receive a Level C one!”

Their words immediately drew support and agreement from the others:

”Brother Tao is right! There’s no way they’d give a Level A invitation to a first-year student!”

”That invitation is definitely a fake!”

”This is ridiculous. If you’re going to forge one, at least make it believable. Forging a Level A invitation? Isn’t that just screaming to the world that you’re a fraud?”

Someone even turned to the staff directly. ”What are you standing around for? This kid is obviously a con artist. Hurry up and get security to throw him out! Or call the police.”

However, the staff did not do as they suggested.

The invitations issued by the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum had special anti-counterfeiting marks. A quick inspection had already allowed them to confirm that this invitation was genuine. Furthermore, as staff of the Forum, they knew more inside information than the people Tao Hua and the others had brought along.

For example, they knew that the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum had indeed issued one Level A invitation this year! And rumor had it the recipient was truly young!

’Could it be this first-year student in front of us?!’

Looking at Zhao Yuan, they didn’t dare to jump to conclusions. They hastily said, ”Mr. Zhao, please wait a moment. I’ll go get my colleague to confirm your identity.”

Without realizing it, they had already switched to using a respectful form of address.

The staff member holding the Level A invitation hurried over to the registration desk on the other side. That’s where Zhao Yuan’s detailed information was kept, along with the equipment to verify the authenticity of the invitations.

Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others, unaware of these details, started complaining amongst themselves.

”What’s there to confirm? He’s definitely a fraud!”

”Don’t tell me you actually believe he could get a Level A invitation? What a joke!”

”This is completely unnecessary!”

While they were all chattering, the staff member at the other registration desk had already confirmed the authenticity of the invitation and Zhao Yuan’s identity.

Suddenly, all the staff at that registration desk became flustered and rushed over, following their colleague.

Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the rest assumed they were coming to throw Zhao Yuan out. They turned to him and said, ”You’re in for it now, kid. People should be down-to-earth and rely on their own abilities. Taking shady shortcuts will get you nowhere.”

Just as the words left their mouths, several staff members rushed up to Zhao Yuan.

Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others immediately started jeering, ”Hurry up and take this fraud away!”

Among the staff, a manager frowned upon hearing this and demanded, ”Who are you calling a fraud?”

Tao Hua and Xu Qiu, failing to notice the change in the manager’s tone, all pointed at Zhao Yuan and said, ”Him, of course.”

To their utter shock, the manager exploded with anger, roaring at them, ”Nonsense! Who brought you students here? How can you be so ill-mannered and disrespectful?”

Well, now. One moment they were mocking Zhao Yuan for being ill-mannered, and the next they were being reprimanded for it themselves.

”Wait, what do you mean, ’nonsense’?” Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others asked. They felt wronged and frustrated, not understanding why they were being yelled at.

The manager glared at them, saying through gritted teeth, ”Mr. Zhao Yuan is the eighth recipient of a Level A invitation from the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum, and you dare to slander him as a fraud. If this isn’t nonsense, are you doing it on purpose? Fine, then I’ll have to have a good talk with your professors!”

Terrified and in disbelief, Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others exclaimed:

”What? He’s really a Level A invitation holder?”

”Are you sure you didn’t make a mistake? Wasn’t his invitation a fake?”

”Yes, yes, you must have made a mistake! He’s just a first-year student, how could he possibly get a Level A invitation?”

”A mistake?” The manager snorted coldly. ”We’ve already scanned the verification code on the invitation and confirmed that it’s authentic. It is indeed the Level A invitation issued by the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum for this session! At the same time, as a Level A invitation holder, Mr. Zhao Yuan’s information is on file with our Forum. We just verified it. There is no mistake!”

Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others still found it hard to believe. ”Shouldn’t the people who receive invitations to the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum be those who have made significant contributions to medicine? What contribution could a first-year student possibly have made?”

”Mr. Zhao Yuan’s contributions are far greater than any of yours! First, he proposed an entirely new punctuation and translation for the *Treasure of Life and Form Theory*. Second, the two exam papers he published in the *Chinese Medicine* journal solved numerous difficult problems in the fields of Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Medical Ancient Texts, advancing the development of both subjects to a certain degree! Those two achievements alone are enough for him to receive an invitation. And that’s not to mention he also defeated Kobayashi Haruo, who came to China to challenge us, and defended the reputation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture...”

This manager had clearly done his homework, rattling off Zhao Yuan’s accomplishments as if he knew them by heart. The only thing he didn’t mention was Zhao Yuan’s one-man takedown of the Jinling Zhao Family. After all, the Jinling Zhao Family still held some prestige and connections in the medical world, and he didn’t want to offend them too deeply.

Tao Hua, Xu Qiu, and the others were left dumbfounded. Suddenly, someone cried out, ”West Hua Medical University... Zhao Yuan... I remember now! He’s that prodigy!”

’Prodigy?’

Hearing this assessment, dark lines appeared on Zhao Yuan’s forehead.

’Hey, hey, is it really appropriate to say that right to my face?’

But this time, the manager didn’t reprimand the person. Because he also thought Zhao Yuan was a prodigy!

’To have so many achievements and receive a Level A invitation from the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum right after starting his first year... If that’s not a prodigy, what is?!’
