Divine Level Witch Doctor

Their starkly different expressions piqued the curiosity of the onlookers.

Ma Guotao quickly asked, ”Elder Xiao, what’s wrong? Is there a problem with the prescription?”

Xiao Xianlin didn’t say a word, simply handing him the prescription Zhao Yuan had written.

Ma Guotao held the prescription, and Qiao Zhixue and the others immediately crowded around to see. Even the reporters aimed their cameras at the two slips, allowing the livestream audience to get a clear view of their contents.

The average person was just watching for the spectacle. While they could recognize the individual characters on the prescription, they had no idea what they meant when put together. However, the doctors watching the livestream, whether from China or Japan, recognized both prescriptions at first glance.

Instantly, a wave of discussion erupted, one comment after another.

”Why would he choose the formula for Gui Pi Soup? That’s not going to work!” said a doctor with a Yangcheng City accent.

A colleague next to him asked, confused, ”Why can’t he use this formula? Liu Lili has been ill for over two years. Her heart and spleen must be weak, so nourishing these two organs first should be perfectly fine.”

The doctor with the Yangcheng City accent explained, ”You don’t know. Liu Lili came to our hospital for treatment six months ago. At the time, after a consultation with multiple experts, we thought the same thing. We not only prescribed Gui Pi Soup but also added Western medicines like propranolol and diazepam, and even used hypnotherapy. And the result? It was completely useless!”

A doctor with a Tianjin accent picked up the conversation, ”What a coincidence. Our hospital also tried a similar treatment, and just like you, we saw no effect at all. It’s strange. We clearly pointed this out in the medical report we gave Zhao Yuan. Why would he still prescribe Gui Pi Soup? Did he not even read the report we gave him?”

Unlike the worried expressions of the Chinese doctors, the masters of Japanese Traditional Chinese Medicine beamed with delight when they saw the contents of Zhao Yuan’s prescription.

”Gui Pi Soup? That medicine is indeed quite effective for other patients with mental issues caused by a deficiency in the heart and spleen. But on Liu Lili, it’s completely useless.”

”Exactly. This formula was proven to be ineffective on Liu Lili a long time ago, yet he’s still using it. I really don’t know how he’s been preparing for the past two days.”

”Those malignant sores on Liu Lili’s body are extremely stubborn. Does he think he can cure them with just Eight Treasure Ointment? That’s a complete pipe dream! Just you watch, both of the formulas he prescribed will be absolutely useless!”

In the consultation room, Xiao Xianlin and the others felt just as worried and anxious as the Chinese doctors outside. But because this was a competition, and with a Japanese monitor present, they couldn’t speak plainly. They could only offer a vague reminder, ”Zhao Yuan, are you sure about these two formulas?”

”Warning! No prompting!” the Japanese monitor immediately shouted, flustered and angry.

Xiao Xianlin shot him a glare and retorted, shamelessly bending the rules, ”Warning, my ass! What rule did we break? Who’s prompting Zhao Yuan? We just asked him if he only wrote these two formulas. If he did, we’ll send them to the pharmacy. If not, then he should give us the rest of them!”

Xiao Xianlin deliberately emphasized that last sentence, trying to send a signal to Zhao Yuan.

The Japanese monitor was furious and about to argue back when he heard Zhao Yuan reply, ”Just these two formulas. There are no others.”

”Really no others?” Xiao Xianlin asked, winking and arching his brows.

”Really, that’s it.” Zhao Yuan knew what he meant and couldn’t help but chuckle. He shook his head and said, ”Elder Xiao, don’t worry. These two formulas may not have had any effect on Liu Lili’s condition before, but now, they will absolutely work!”

Everyone was stunned by his words.

’What does he mean, it didn’t work before but will now? The formula is practically the same as before. Could it be that the effect is enhanced just because a different person prescribed it?’

Seeing Zhao Yuan’s confidence and the Japanese monitor’s frantic objections, Xiao Xianlin and the others knew they couldn’t say any more. They had no choice but to send someone to take the prescriptions to the pharmacy immediately. The Japanese side also sent someone to supervise the entire process, afraid the Chinese team might cheat while preparing and decocting the herbs.

While waiting for the medicine to be delivered, Zhao Yuan didn’t stay idle. He continued to perform acupuncture on Liu Lili.

A little over forty minutes later, the acupuncture session ended. The freshly decocted Gui Pi Soup and the prepared Eight Treasure Ointment were brought into the consultation room.

Zhao Yuan explained to Liu Lili and Chen Kaihua how to use the two medicines, telling them to take one dose of the soup immediately and apply the Eight Treasure Ointment to all the malignant sores and blisters on her body.

Zhao Yuan did not personally participate in this process. Instead, he had a few nurses stay in the consultation room to assist Chen Kaihua while he went to rest in a nearby doctor’s office.

Xiao Xianlin and the others wanted to talk to Zhao Yuan, but seeing how tired he was, and with the Japanese monitor watching them like a hawk, they had to drop the idea and let him get some proper rest.

Seeing this, one of Genji Doju’s disciples couldn’t help but say worriedly, ”Master, why did that kid just leave to rest? He looks so calm and composed, not a hint of panic or anxiety. Could it be... is it really like he said? That the Gui Pi Soup and Eight Treasure Ointment didn’t work before, but they do now?”

Before Genji Doju could speak, another disciple retorted, ”Impossible! Even you, Master, couldn’t cure this patient, Liu Lili. How could Zhao Yuan be better than you? Besides, the medicines are the same. How could they be useless before and effective now? That’s utter nonsense! The way I see it, he’s just stubbornly refusing to admit defeat. Inside, he must be a complete mess!”

”Enough, stop arguing.” Genji Doju cut off his disciples’ debate with a sharp rebuke. He said in a low voice, ”Zhao Yuan definitely cannot cure Liu Lili! Right now, I am only worried about your Senior Brother.”

The disciples had been curious about this for a while and quickly asked, ”Master, what exactly is wrong with Senior Brother? Did he really come down with some rare and difficult illness?”

Genji Doju’s expression was grave as he said, ”Your Senior Brother’s Vital Qi and Yang Qi are depleted to the point of utter collapse!”

”What?”

”How is that possible?”

The disciples exclaimed in shock.

”I am never wrong in my diagnoses!” Genji Doju said in a low voice. ”The only fortunate thing is that while his condition is severe, it’s not yet incurable. I believe that with your Senior Brother’s medical skills, it won’t take long for him to cure himself.”

Everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.

But then, one disciple said hesitantly, ”But why has Senior Brother changed his formula four times since the competition began? Does that mean the previous three formulas had no effect?”
