Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 147: Chapter 145: Ghost Tower Bridge

As Luna began annexing the Upper City District, Gu Xi noticed the power tinged with Undead aura flowing from his position along the bridge that had just been captured, heading towards the Upper City District.

As the Undead aura surged past, a large number of Deceitful Energy Pearls on the bridge, still unattended, rapidly transformed in front of Gu Xi into Negative Energy Crystals.

Simultaneously, the decorative style of the bridge also changed, with skull statues starting to appear on the floor of this Tower Bridge.

This transformation was initially slow, but as Gu Xi’s Undead Corps returned from the Upper City District, the transformation speed suddenly increased.

Gu Xi, standing at the Tower Bridge, watched the returning Undead Corps with a hint of a smile in his eyes.

”Clean the battlefield. All Deceitful... no, all Negative Energy Soldiers can take a share of one-tenth, the Combat Squad another share of one-tenth, and the rest must be handed over to me.”

The Undead Soldiers, upon hearing this, immediately transitioned from the combat units to laborers.

This transformation was something they were quite familiar with, and they didn’t see any issue with picking up items and tidying up the battlefield.

It was only then that Gu Xi took a few steps forward.

The Tower Bridge in front of him was different from an ordinary bridge, featuring a square-shaped Defense Tower in the middle of the bridge.

This part was somewhat similar to the Boundary Tower that Gu Xi had captured last time, but it was noticeably smaller.

The strongest Deceitful Shadow Boss had been stationed at the top of the Defense Tower and only jumped down after being attacked by Gu Xi.

When Gu Xi charged against the Deceitful Shadow team, he also hit this Defense Tower.

However, there were no defenses set up at the Defense Tower, and even the main door inside the tower was open, allowing a clear view of what lay beyond.

After the Deceitful Shadow Boss was killed and all of Gu Xi’s subordinates had moved on to the Upper City District, he wasn’t in a hurry to enter the Defense Tower for exploration.

Now that all his subordinates had returned, Gu Xi became interested in the Defense Tower. He held his Cold Wind Staff and walked over to the Defense Tower.

[You are nearing an unmanned Tower Bridge. How do you choose to deal with the Tower Bridge, occupy or abandon it?]

Seeing the prompt before him, Gu Xi wasn’t surprised. He had actually seen the notice for capturing the Tower Bridge when he eliminated all the Deceitful Shadows on it.

The only confusion Gu Xi had at the time was why there was no option to destroy the area among the choices.

After thinking it over seriously on the Tower Bridge, Gu Xi realized that although other places could be destroyed, this Tower Bridge could not easily be destroyed.

If this bridge were destroyed, the connection between Yalidov and the Upper City District would be severed, and Gu Xi would have to invest effort in rebuilding it later.

Now that the Undead forces had retreated, Gu Xi had no intention to wait any longer. After commanding the Undead to tidy up, he focused on a few Undead Bosses.

”Occupy it, assign the Combat Squad... huh?”

Gu Xi intended to assign a Combat Squad to the Defense Tower, using it as a base of operations.

To his surprise, there was a hiccup at this step.

According to intelligence, capturing the Tower Bridge should allow conversion into a base, so why was such a prompt appearing now?

[Please choose the utility direction of the Tower Bridge afterward: Training Camp, Treasure Vault, Prison, Ordinary Bridge!]

What’s going on with this?

Wasn’t it supposed to be a Barracks base?

Gu Xi had already arranged places for two Border Defense Stations and two bases on his way there.

At that time, a regiment of Skeleton Soldiers with long spears and a regiment of Skeleton Shooters.

But now this wasn’t converting into a Barracks base.

Gu Xi was rather taken aback.

After regaining his composure, Gu Xi could only accept it. He couldn’t possibly give up this Tower Bridge, so he’d choose whatever was offered.

Gu Xi quickly reviewed the four options.

Among these four options, he absolutely couldn’t choose an Ordinary Bridge. After all the effort he put into capturing it, there was no way he would leave it as just an ordinary bridge.

So unless he was out of his mind, he wouldn’t make such a choice.

Among the remaining three options, Prison was the one Gu Xi understood the least.

Was it intended to imprison people on the bridge?

But where could they be imprisoned?

No, Gu Xi shook his head, why was he considering such issues, shouldn’t he be considering that he had nobody that could be imprisoned?

So Gu Xi immediately rejected the Prison option.

Next, the Training Camp and Treasure Vault were relatively reasonable options.

There were no additional hints for the Training Camp, so Gu Xi couldn’t determine what kind of Training Camp was being offered.

However, considering the situation of Yalidu City over such a long time, the suggestion was likely to be for an Undead-type Training Camp rather than something peculiar.

Most importantly, being a large site, it would be a waste not to use it as a Training Camp, rather than turning it into a Treasure Vault.

With this thought, Gu Xi had made up his mind.

He didn’t care for a Treasure Vault since he had nothing to stash away, but a Training Camp was a must, as he couldn’t waste such a large site.

”Choose the Training Camp direction.”

As soon as Gu Xi finished speaking, the Tower Bridge began to tremble again, and Gu Xi noticed that the exterior of the Defense Tower in the center of the Tower Bridge changed.

The Undead Wind decorations that had just been put up were removed, and new windows appeared on the previously sealed Defense Tower.

At each window, there seemed to be dark figures looking out.

This eerie situation startled Gu Xi as well.

But upon closer inspection, Gu Xi realized these were not figures at all, but unfinished statues placed by someone at the windows.

As more statues emerged, Gu Xi noticed several stone statues crouching on the railings on both sides of the bridge.

These statues were shaped like demons, with sharp teeth, curved horns, bat wings, and long pointed tails.

This sight reminded Gu Xi of a type of unit he studied in the academy.

Stone Golem?

Sure enough, in the next instant, the transformation completion prompt sounded.
