Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 113: Chapter 111: Sudden Battle

Watching the old man busily starting to work by himself, Gu Xi felt a bit awkward. Where should he go next? Just stay here and watch?

Or could he already leave?

Just as Gu Xi wore a puzzled expression, two more players emerged in the underground city.

The outfits of these two players were distinctly different. One looked like a miner, while the other was clad in heavy armor, looking like a defender of the city.

They quickly approached the old man.

”City Lord, has the unit been delivered?”

Before reaching the old man, the one in heavy armor started to speak loudly.

The old man, who was directing two Ghost Corps to their designated positions, showed no politeness as he spoke to him.

”You’re always thinking about your stuff, look, those Heavy Armor Zombies are for you, is that enough?”

”That’s enough, I knew the City Lord wouldn’t forget about me. The City Lord, you have no idea, ever since my troops were drawn away, those dragon hatchlings on that side have been quite unruly.”

”You talk too much,” the old man glanced at the heavy-armored player, ”Go, go, distribute the troops. Wu Qian hasn’t come, Liu Su, you help take the Light Shooter Corps assigned to him.”

”Okay,” responded the player dressed like a miner.

The two quickly guided the remaining three troops and led them to the side.

Throughout this process, they never glanced at Gu Xi, nor did the old man introduce them to him.

From the players’ perspective, Gu Xi was just a temporary comrade delivering troops, who would leave once outside, with no certainty of visiting the Scattered Immortal Garden again.

No matter how well they got along with Gu Xi, it was of no use.

It would just be a waste of energy.

Wouldn’t it be better to take that time to do something they wanted?

This situation made Gu Xi feel awkward. He was calculating how to propose leaving when suddenly the ground began to shake.

Gu Xi heard heavy drumbeats coming from above.

The old man’s face changed, ”They’re coming again.”

After saying that, the old man looked around and, seeing Gu Xi still standing there, thought for a moment and spoke to Gu Xi: ”Comrade, there’s a battle happening above. The Scattered Immortal Garden is short-handed right now; why don’t you help out?

Don’t worry, you won’t work for nothing; adequate supplies will be furnished to you.

Besides, that shameless group has attacked again; even if you want to log out now, it’s too late. Consider it extra earnings.”

”Alright, who should I report to?”

Gu Xi didn’t mind getting involved in the fight. As an Undead Mage, any great war was a chance to level up, and the old man’s offers were quite tempting to Gu Xi.

”Take the elevator up, report directly to Captain Wood; he’ll take care of everything. I still have matters to handle here, so I won’t keep you.”

As the old man spoke, he escorted Gu Xi to the elevator.

As the elevator doors closed, Gu Xi observed that the Yinfeng Camp and Ghost Qi Camp ghosts he had delivered were already flying onto the tall stone pillars in the underground space.

With their addition, the light points swirling around the pillars increased significantly, and the crystals on the ceiling shone brighter, turning some places a bright purple, unlike the earlier dim purple.

Gu Xi realized that these ghosts were used to suppress the loose immortal’s corpses atop the pillars. Before he came, the place had been somewhat affected, and the reduced number of suppression units allowed an uncontrollable surge of energy from the loose immortal corpses.

The over five thousand troops he brought were meant to suppress the Scattered Immortal Garden.

As for the external Other Ghosts, they were barely considered a threat; perhaps in the eyes of these few, the outside Other Ghosts were easily defeated by any player.

Gu Xi wanted to take another look, but the elevator doors closed, cutting off his view.

Very quickly, Gu Xi was taken back to the small room where he had originally arrived. Before opening the door of the small room, he heard rapid drumming from outside.

”Quickly, move quickly, hoist up the battle banner for me and deploy all troops. There’s no need to wait for any other time.”

Amidst the drumbeats, a voice spread throughout the city.

Even Gu Xi, inside the small room, heard it clear and loud.

Upon hearing the voice, Gu Xi felt tense, leaving him no time to contemplate as he pushed the door open and stepped out promptly.

Amidst the chaotic crowd, Gu Xi grabbed a passing Undead Mage player.

”Hey, comrade, may I ask where Wood is? I need to find Wood to report.”

The player, pulled aside by Gu Xi, gave him a quick once-over, ”You’re from the supply convoy, right? I don’t have time for you now; you’d better find a place to hide first. We’ll discuss after the battle.”

Having said this, the player shook off Gu Xi’s grip and ran in a certain direction.

”Hey, wait, I can fight too.”

But before Gu Xi managed to stop him, the player had already disappeared from sight.

Helpless, Gu Xi shifted his gaze towards other players, but no matter where he looked, nobody was willing to pay attention to him.

Eventually, an experienced player couldn’t watch any longer, and as he passed by, he spoke to Gu Xi.

”Stop bothering them; Wood’s military orders are strict, and they can’t afford to talk to you. If you want to join in, find Wood over there.”

After speaking, the veteran player pointed Gu Xi in a direction.

Following the direction pointed out by the veteran player, Gu Xi noticed beneath a thirty-meter-high flagpole stood a robust, over two-meter-tall man.

He was clad in sturdy plate armor adorned with golden and silver skull patterns, holding a magic staff taller than himself in one hand and a shield in the other.

For a moment, Gu Xi couldn’t quite figure out if he was an Undead Mage or a Death Knight.

Additionally, a swarm of Ravens circled around him, which he occasionally spoke to, sending them out to deliver orders.

It was then that the burly man saw Gu Xi, glaring at him, ”You boy, why are you still standing there, hurry up and report.”

”Uh, I’m the one who brought the troops, having just handed them over, where should I go next?”

”Oh, the supply guy, right? How many troops do you still have? I’ll arrange a place for you.”

”Over four hundred, but I...”

”That little, fine.” The robust man interrupted Gu Xi before he could finish, ”Go to Sector C-6; four hundred troops should suffice. I don’t care how you do it, as long as you hold the line there, you’ll earn credit.

After the battle, come to me for your well-deserved rewards.”

After speaking, the burly man waved his hand, and a Raven flew in front of Gu Xi.

”Follow the Raven to Sector C-6; any new orders will be brought to you by the Raven.”

Finishing his words, the robust man ignored Gu Xi, busy commanding other players.
