Trying hard!

Seeing Gu Xi and Di Mi easily negotiating, the burly quartermaster also felt a bit awkward.

He coughed heavily to draw Gu Xi’s attention, then cleared his throat again, ready to speak: ”I say, friend, Di Mi is...”

Before he could finish, Di Mi reached out and pulled the Skeleton Shooter Boss she had pressed against the wall, holding it like a chick.

Gu Xi immediately understood Di Mi’s intention, ”In addition to the Skeleton Shooter Boss you just recommended, I don’t need any other bosses. My undead army isn’t large, so too many bosses would be redundant.

By the way, apart from exchanging bosses, what else can the battle achievements exchange for?”

[Skeleton Shooter Boss (Level 0, Summoned Creature): Experience (0/500) Attack 3, Defense 1, Life 13, Ammunition 5, Skills: Combat Elite, Squad Commander (29 members).]

”Friend, this...”

”No way, isn’t the rate here one point of battle achievement per boss? You aren’t thinking of raising the price, are you?”

”No, how could I raise the price?” The quartermaster quickly shook his head, feeling for the first time that the initially confused Gu Xi was not an easy player to deal with.

”I just meant that there are some other decent bosses here, want to take another look?”

”No need, two bosses are enough. By the way, apart from bosses, what else can you exchange battle achievements for? Heroes?”

”Can’t exchange for heroes,” the quartermaster chuckled, ”You can exchange for some equipment, though it’s not combat equipment, it’s all campaign equipment. Useful for players, bosses, and heroes alike.

The quality is average, at the blue level, but as you know, such campaign equipment is relatively scarce, so the price is a bit higher, one battle achievement per piece.

Moreover, skill books. Although the skill books for Undead Mage aren’t complete here, the necessary ones are available and are also one battle achievement per book.

If you have your own city now, we have architectural design plans here: one battle achievement for a small plot, two for a medium plot. We don’t have large plot plans for now.

If you need anything special, you can exchange for three battle achievements, and I’ll help you find it.”

Giving up some ideas, the quartermaster stopped worrying about Di Mi’s matter and started introducing the goods he had for sale.

To prevent Gu Xi from getting any more bargains, he made sure to list the prices clearly this time.

Gu Xi initially struggled with the decision between equipment and architectural design plans, but with a quick thought, he decided, ”What kind of skills do you have here?”

”Smart.”

Upon hearing Gu Xi’s choice, the quartermaster immediately praised him, ”Other things are external; skills are personal. I have professional skills, active skills, and passive skills here. There are no special skills here, as those require prerequisites you know.

Moreover, some professional skills have profession requirements. Without reaching the profession, some skills can’t be chosen; these are all marked. Better read carefully before choosing.”

”Got it.”

Gu Xi decisively said: ”Bring out all the skill books for me to look at. By the way, how is the quantity of the basic skill books here?”

”You’ll know from the leadership path chosen by a Death Knight.”

Gu Xi immediately understood the quartermaster’s implication.

Clearly, there are some basic or essential prerequisite skill books which are highly sought after here.

But Gu Xi had his plan, actually, before graduating from the academy, he already considered his future path and how he’d arrange his skills.

Although he mastered two of the Three Divine Skills, it didn’t mean Gu Xi would drastically change his path.

Gu Xi’s plan is from the Undead Mage, at Level 10 turn to Witch Demon, at Level 20 turn to Lich King, and finally aim for the Death God path.

In his plan, mastering at least one of the three ultimate skills on the Undead Mage path is essential. Only then, at Level 20, can he possibly turn to Lich King, otherwise, he can only switch to Great Lich.

By Level 30, without any chance for a second transition, he would continue as Great Lich until death.

The difference there is significant.

Though in Bailian City, few have reached Level 20, Gu Xi can think far ahead; perhaps it’s just a fantasy of a player.

And with a dream, Gu Xi also had ideas for the necessary skills to learn from the beginning.

But his luck wasn’t great, having failed to select his desired skills four times since starting his career.

Now hearing the availability of skill books, Gu Xi naturally paid more attention, ensuring he could secure at least one of his goals.

”Here are the skill books. Take a look, but you can only see the covers. Once opened, it counts as automatic reading, and I don’t offer refunds.”

The quartermaster noticed Gu Xi’s intention.

”I know, let me check first. No Sorcery? Luck Skill? War Machinery Engineering, well, this one’s here, let’s grab it.

Logistics, unfortunately none again, Offensive Skill’s also missing, what’s this? Military Studies? Economics? Useless.”

Gu Xi flipped through skill books, initially selecting non-professional type ones.

According to his plan, among non-professional skills, he needed to learn two from Sorcery (Passive), Luck Skill (Passive), War Machinery Engineering (Passive), Logistics (Passive), and Offensive Skill (Passive).

After searching for a long time, he only found one, War Machinery Engineering, and couldn’t find the others.

[War Machinery Engineering (Passive): Enhances war machines’ power, increases the attack power, defense power, and damage value of Crossbow Carriage; increases damage value of Catapult; improves Medical Tent’s healing effect; if there is an Ammunition Vehicle, gives extra attack power to ranged units.]

As for War Machinery Engineering, Gu Xi was determined to learn this.

Not to mention other factors, just the synergy between War Machinery Engineering and the undead path offers many different choices, such as a Plague Tent appearing post Medical Tent.

Then considering the Catapult route, resulting in the appearance of Corpse-Throwing Device, etc.

Lastly, enhancing the Arrow Tower’s attack power through corresponding skills.

For Gu Xi, this is quite significant.

His Death City, after reaching Level 5, can deploy Soul Summoning Tower on the battlefield; post-Level 9 can deploy City Walls and Moats on the battlefield, which inherently include Arrow Towers.

But the early study by Gu Xi wasn’t in-depth enough; he didn’t know how War Machinery Engineering’s combination with undead professions would affect Arrow Towers.

Nonetheless, Gu Xi was sure that War Machinery Engineering was useful for him, and that was enough.
