Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 140: Chapter 138: Wharf Market

”Bone Spike!”

Holding the Cold Wind Staff, he unleashed a flurry of Bone Spikes at the sea, and Gu Xi finally confirmed that the additional 3 Attack Power not only applied to his summoned creatures but also to his own attack Skills.

At this moment, Luna drifted back once again.

”My Lord.”

”All right, let’s go. Kane, I’ll leave this to you.”

After bidding farewell to Kane, Gu Xi jumped onto the Evil Coffin and headed towards the direction of the next pier.

The upcoming pier was the Haunted Pier, one of the three piers. There was a ship docked there as well, but unlike the ships at the Mysterious Pier, it was clearly a Ghost Ship at the dock.

The sailors from the ship had already come ashore and were wandering near the pier.

Gu Xi glanced at these sailors and found that most of them looked like Skeletons.

Seeing Gu Xi pass by, the sailors took off their hats and greeted him.

Since they bore no hostility, Gu Xi did not initiate any conflict. After giving them a glance, he proceeded toward the Evil Pier.

”What ship is leaving the Evil Pier this week?”

”A smuggling ship. The Market has already confirmed it. They’ve brought in a ship full of liquor, but we’re not interested. The liquor is of ordinary quality, and their asking price is quite high.”

Luna was always in Yalidu City and knew every change in the city like the back of her hand.

As soon as Gu Xi asked, she immediately responded.

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi had no further plans to visit the Evil Pier, ”Let’s go straight to the Wharf Market. We’ll need to stop by the Tavern later; there’s still much to do today.”

Luna didn’t have much to say and immediately led the way.

They bypassed both the Evil Pier and Haunted Pier and quickly arrived at the Wharf Market on the other side of the Pier District.

This Wharf Market was somewhat larger than the Wharf Warehouse but was more chaotic in its arrangement.

There were many unattended stalls in the market, with a chubby Zombie sitting idly in front of one, swatting at flies.

Seeing Luna leading Gu Xi over, the chubby Zombie immediately stood up.

”My Lord, you’ve arrived.”

”Yes, I’m here to take a look. Are you the administrator of the Wharf Market?”

”Yes, My Lord, I’m the tax officer of the Wharf Market. You can call me Dalosning.”

Gu Xi looked up at Dalosning and then at the Wharf Market in front of him, and information automatically appeared before him.

”What an impressive tax officer.”

Observing Dalosning’s attributes, Gu Xi’s eyes shone with interest.

With expertise like this, Gu Xi would certainly benefit significantly during transactions.

”Thank you for your praise, My Lord.”

”Here, take this and convert it into Negative Energy for me.”

Gu Xi extended his hand, revealing Gold Coins obtained from the Mysterious Ship.

While waiting for Luna, Gu Xi had already examined these Gold Coins and found them to have no practical exchange value.

They could serve as pirate memorabilia but were of little use in transactions.

Receiving the Gold Coins from Gu Xi, Dalosning’s eyes lit up.

”My Lord, do you intend to sell them in bulk or individually?”

”Individually. I know that selling them separately will yield a better price. I currently only need Negative Energy, handle the rest as you see fit.”

Gu Xi easily discerned Dalosning’s intentions.

”Rest assured, My Lord, leave this to me. Those smugglers love this stuff. Once I handle this, we’ll have results today.”

As he spoke, Dalosning took the Gold Coins to a nearby stall.

Without making any visible moves, the Gold Coins were all displayed on the stall for sale, with a Zombie sitting behind the stall, staring rather woodenly at everything before him.

When Gu Xi walked over to take a look, he found that in just this brief moment, all 317 Gold Coins had been appraised and priced, with even the cheapest coin fetching 3 points of Negative Energy.

The most expensive coin could sell for as much as 500 points of Negative Energy.

This was nearly half of Yalidu City’s daily Negative Energy income.

The price startled Gu Xi.

However, he was also concerned that setting the price so high might deter buyers.

But to Gu Xi’s surprise, after only a brief observation, a few intoxicated smuggling sailors and merchants wobbled over from the Smuggling Pier.

Upon seeing Dalosning, they loudly exclaimed, ”Hey, buddy, can’t you cut us some slack? We brought a whole shipload of liquor; you can’t just let us run this errand for nothing.”

”It’s not that we’re refusing to accept your goods; it’s just that your asking price is too high, and as you can see, our patrons here are primarily Undead.

Your liquor is no good for the Undead. If you brought a shipload of corpses, I would have bought them all without hesitation. But liquor, no, it just doesn’t work, you understand?”

Dalosning explained, looking resigned, having reiterated this point countless times to these smugglers.

The liquor they brought was unsuitable for the Undead, yet the smugglers refused to acknowledge it.

Just as the smugglers were about to argue further, their eyes brightened suddenly.

”Hey, are these Gold Coins for sale?”

”Yes, they are. Interested?”

”Of course, the quality of these coins is splendid. But you know, after transporting so much liquor, I’m short on spare cash. Is there any way you could lower the price on these?”

”That’s out of the question. I assure you, I set a fair price. Look at this coin; it’s from the Alorot Empire. You know what that signifies, right?

The Alorot Empire, Sea Ghost Empire, perhaps this very coin is the key to entering the Ghost Empire, so the asking price is truly not high.”
