Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 104: Chapter 102: The Battle Begins

The Skeleton Soldiers under Gu Xi’s command, regardless of which combat squad, all followed behind the skeletons of the Sunshine Bone Corps.

When Gu Xi deployed these troops, he already saw that the enemy’s ghost soldiers were about the same level as the skeleton soldiers of the Sunshine Bone Corps, both roughly around Level 5 to Level 6.

However, in terms of numbers, Gu Xi’s five thousand five hundred strong Undead Corps had the upper hand.

Although it might not become a crushing battle, the losses wouldn’t be too great.

At this time, mixing the skeleton soldiers with the Sunshine Bone Corps’ skeletons and sending them out, letting them skirmish and finish off any remaining enemies, was a good way to take advantage of the current situation.

After deploying his forces, Gu Xi turned around to take a glance, only to find that Luna, who should have appeared, hadn’t come out.

The situation startled Gu Xi; could something have happened to Luna?

Just as Gu Xi was about to inquire about the situation, the Light Shooter Corps also took action.

Unlike the over a hundred skeleton shooters under Gu Xi, the Light Shooter Corps, although also skeleton shooters, fired arrows imbued with a very clear light attribute.

When the arrows were shot into the air, it gave the impression of being covered by a rain of light.

As the Sunshine Bone Corps charged, the ghost soldiers had actually already taken more than ten steps forward, preparing for a frontal confrontation with the Sunshine Bone Corps.

However, before they could break into the ranks of the Sunshine Bone Corps, they were attacked by the light arrows.

When light arrows hit them, they opened bowl-sized wounds on their bodies on the spot.

The most lethal aspect was that these sunlight-laden attacks dealt significant damage to the ghost soldiers.

Some ghost soldiers hit at vital points even vaporized on the spot, leaving only their bronze armor with embedded arrows on the ground.

”So strong.”

Looking at the scene before him, Gu Xi couldn’t help but marvel at the strength of this Undead Corps.

These were just two types of skeleton troops; if the zombies with strength comparable to the weak bone dragons and even higher-level ghosts took action, what would their status be?

As Gu Xi contemplated this, the Sunshine Bone Corps had already collided with the ghost soldiers.

The skeleton soldiers of the Sunshine Bone Corps, wielding swords and shields, appeared to be the most basic skeleton soldiers, but their swords and shields were anything but ordinary when they charged forward.

The shield of each Sunshine Bone Corps skeleton soldier formed a protective defense shield like an eggshell in front of them, and the long swords they held became white light swords, clearly not ordinary items.

This light sword, once swung, could cut through any armor on the ghost soldiers, no matter how thick.

If it struck the head or chest in crucial areas, it could even kill the ghost soldiers instantly.

The ghost soldiers showed strong combat power at this point, facing the Sunshine Bone Corps’ skeleton soldiers head-on with large swords, hacking at the skeleton soldiers even at the cost of severe injuries to themselves.

Most of their attacks were blocked by the defense shields; ghost soldiers’ attacks required at least four strikes to shatter such a defense shield.

However, for the skeleton soldiers, four strikes were more than enough to kill their way through.

Regular ghost soldiers could typically strike twice at the skeleton soldiers, and some couldn’t even land a single blow before being taken down on the spot.

Faced with such formidable combat power, Gu Xi was at a loss as to what to do for the moment.

Could this be the thrill of being an Undead Mage, deploying your undead forces on the battlefield and then just waiting to watch the show?

At this moment, Big Beard, who had been standing atop a monster, finally moved. He took a big bite out of a leg he was holding and then fed the leftover leg to the monster below.

”Everyone, go to hell!”

Big Beard roared, stomped with both feet, and leapt high, then dropped heavily downwards.

Boom! The blue-clad Big Beard landed in the thick of the fight.

Over a dozen engaged skeleton soldiers were thrown aside on the spot.

After that, Big Beard rampaged through the battle, throwing punches and kicks at every skeleton soldier he saw.

No matter the strength of these skeleton soldiers, they couldn’t withstand three punches from Big Beard, and some would be killed with just one punch.

The Sunshine Skull Corps, initially holding the upper hand, suddenly found themselves at a disadvantage.

”Ghosts, attack!”

Seeing the situation, Gu Xi decisively issued the order, and two Ghost Corps simultaneously set off, flying towards Big Beard.

Seeing the ghosts approaching, Big Beard gave Gu Xi a surprised glance.

He hadn’t expected Gu Xi to see through his weakness so quickly.

Big Beard’s abilities lay entirely in his fists and feet. If he fought with weapons, his strength would be reduced by three-tenths. If he rode a warhorse, his strength would only be half.

Only fists and feet were his true nature.

But there was a severe problem with fists and feet—they belonged to physical attacks.

When fighting ghosts, they were countered by ghosts.

Thus, Big Beard usually avoided fighting ghosts.

Now it seemed the enemy commander had sharp insight.

Big Beard secretly praised Gu Xi in his heart while shouting, ”Blood Red, kill that commander!”

The monster, which had been lying on the ground, began to move. It supported itself with its hands on the ground and let out a roar towards the sky.

As it roared, Gu Xi smelled a strong sulfur scent.

”Could this guy be a demon?”

Before Gu Xi could finish his words, the monster leaped high towards him, who was at the rear of the battlefield.

”Zombies, forward!”

Gu Xi still had enough troops at hand, with one thousand five hundred Heavy Armor Zombies right beside him. Their movement speed was relatively slow, making it unlikely for them to rush to the frontline immediately.

However, if tasked with defending the commander, they could definitely manage.

Under Gu Xi’s command, the one thousand five hundred Heavy Armor Zombies formed a solid defensive line of fifteen layers. The zombies at the back didn’t intend to wield shields but equipped themselves with iron hooks on iron chains, intending to drag the monster down and kill it.

But Gu Xi never expected this monster would be so powerful. At the moment of collision with the Heavy Armor Zombies, with a flick of its forepaw, six Heavy Armor Zombies were sent flying.

The monster’s single eye glared, and a beam of gray light shot out from its eye.

In the beam, five Heavy Armor Zombies had their upper bodies melted away.

Forcefully breaking out of the first line of Heavy Armor Zombies, the monster charged towards Gu Xi in large strides.

A distance of several dozen meters was nothing for such a giant monster, no more than seven or eight steps.

The reactions of the Heavy Armor Zombies weren’t slow. The shield bearers raised their shields, and those with iron hooks threw iron hooks. Yet, none were able to halt the monster’s advance.

Seeing the monster about to rush in front of him, Gu Xi’s eyes showed no fear; he raised the Shattering Staff.

”Bone Spike, Bone Spike, Bone Spike, Death Incarnation!”
