Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 137: Chapter 135: Wharf Warehouse

”We’re here.”

Stopping in front of the Skeleton Sword Soldier Camp before the Pier District, Luna halted.

Gu Xi planted the Cold Wind Staff into the ground and used the leverage to stand up on the Evil Coffin.

Gu Xi realized that, in just a few days, the Pier District had undergone significant changes.

Originally, although the Pier District was near the riverbank, it was still on solid ground.

But now, before Gu Xi’s eyes, it had transformed into streets and alleys of waterways, giving the impression not of a duplicate of Victoria City, but more like a replica of Water City Venice.

Even behind the Skeleton Sword Soldier Camp, there was a small pier, and at the pier, a few small wooden boats were moored.

”What’s going on here?”

Gu Xi jumped off the Evil Coffin and looked up at Luna, ”Is this due to regional linkage?”

”Not entirely, there’s also the previously introduced Walrus Graveyard. When it was introduced, half a lake was brought in, turning the Pier District this way.”

”Is there no way to change it back?”

”No way, the Walrus Graveyard has already integrated, but fortunately, the land area of the Pier District remains, with various large, medium, and small plots still present. Additionally, a new supporting building has been provided, the type that can dock a small boat: a small pier.

Now the city’s supporting buildings no longer just consist of street lamps.”

”As long as it doesn’t affect the city, that’s fine. So how do we get across now, take a boat?”

Gu Xi glanced ahead, noticing that the road had been washed out, and the nearby small boats seemed obviously decorative. Gu Xi didn’t think those small boats would be of use.

”No need, my lord, there’s a bridge over there.”

Luna pointed in another direction, and Gu Xi discovered a rustic-style wooden bridge there.

Crossing the bridge, they entered the regionally linked Pier District.

Upon entry, the area immediately consisted of numerous wooden houses that made up the Wharf Warehouse.

Before Gu Xi could stop, several people rushed out from within the pier.

Leading them was a bald man, but when Gu Xi saw his eyes, he knew this was a zombie.

Behind him was a group of strong zombies; their gray skin made their movements quite peculiar.

”My lord, you have arrived.”

”Administrator of the Wharf Warehouse, Kane.”

Gu Xi immediately understood upon hearing this; he was like the barmaid, one of the core buildings’ provisions.

He glanced at Kane, and information about him immediately popped up in his eyes.

[Note: Kane’s level is equivalent to the Wharf Warehouse level, and he has no combat power. The only thing that can keep him safe is that he is not attacked inside the Wharf Warehouse.]

”My lord.”

Kane courteously greeted Gu Xi with a bow.

After seeing Kane’s attributes, Gu Xi focused on Kane’s fingers.

There were indeed some stains on his fingers left by potions.

”You manage the warehouse, and being a penny-pincher is understandable since it’s a necessary attribute for warehouse supervision.

I can also understand being knowledgeable, as incoming materials need someone to receive them, requiring some identification ability.

But how come you’re practicing as a pharmacist?”

Upon hearing this, Kane grinned.

”My lord, in life, I was a pharmacist, but I had no talent. After death, I was assigned to supervise the warehouse. The only benefit is handling those herbs that are about to go bad.”

With a pleasant-sounding euphemism of self-handling, Gu Xi understood why Kane would be a pharmacist.

”Can the potions you make with nearly expired, nearly spoiled herbs be used?”

”Other potions have issues, but poisons are definitely fine. For the undead, using some poison isn’t unusual, is it?”

Okay, this is a very honest undead.

Having made a certain judgment about Kane, Gu Xi took another walk around the Wharf Warehouse.

He found that the Wharf Warehouse was actually composed of several small rooms.

Each room was used for storing different materials.

Each room also had a corresponding environment, such as the warehouse for storing mercury. Instead of boxes, there were lead tanks inside.

It could be said that each room had its own characteristics, and in this aspect, Kane managed everything very well.

”Well done.”

After walking around, Gu Xi was quite satisfied with Kane’s work. He patted Kane on the shoulder, saying, ”You’ve done a very good job in this regard. I have high hopes for you.

Do you have any plans next? How can the Wharf Warehouse be upgraded to level 2?

And in terms of work, are there any other requirements?”

”Speaking of plans, I do have one. Our Wharf Warehouse is actually linked with three external piers, but I’m not in a position to go outside to the pier to interact with those sailors and captains.

I’ve always wanted to ask if you could arrange for some people to come over. I’d like to ask the captains who come in weekly to bring some things for me.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi knew it was an effect of Kane’s penny-pinching trait.

Unlike the barmaid, Kane had a different obsession with collecting various materials.

Perhaps this is why he became a warehouse administrator, while the barmaid could only become a tavern owner.

”Alright, I’ll arrange for this. For now, you manage the warehouse; other things aren’t important. The key now is the resources. Whether these resources can be stored properly depends on your performance.”

”Rest assured, my lord, with me here, the warehouse resources will remain safe.”

”I’ll leave it to you then, Luna, let’s take a stroll to the market.”

After telling Kane not to see him off, Gu Xi jumped onto the Evil Coffin, turned it around, and headed toward the Wharf Market.

The location of the Wharf Market is quite far from the Wharf Warehouse.

Practically separated by three piers, Gu Xi noticed the changes on the piers as he passed.

On these three piers, all the ships freshly spawned this week were already docked.

There were some people walking back and forth on the piers, and some places even had fights breaking out, creating a bustling scene from afar.
