Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 123: Chapter 121: Aftermath (19/115)

”Hahaha, I’ve struck it rich, really struck it rich this time.”

After the inspecting Death Knights left, Du Wushuang couldn’t help but jump up in the air.

In her hand was a certificate, on which was written the figure of 1500 in battle earnings.

Seeing Gu Xi’s puzzled expression looking at her, Du Wushuang hurriedly explained to the newcomer Gu Xi.

”1500, do you know how much that can buy?

At least five pieces of blue equipment. I never dreamed I’d have a full set of blue one day.”

Seeing Gu Xi unmoved, Du Wushuang’s excitement slowly dwindled.

”Alright, I know you’re amazing, you’re a genius, but you can’t expect everyone to be as strong as you. Do you know how hard it is for us at the bottom to make some money?

Normally, I do tasks, and I can earn between 80 to 100 per task. Everyday weapon maintenance and various supplies consume 50 at least, not to mention other miscellaneous expenses.

I’ve been guarding this world for almost a year and only saved up 3500. This is like three months of accumulation for me.”

Listening to Du Wushuang, Gu Xi glanced down at his own battle earnings certificate, which had the number 5000 written on it.

In the end, Gu Xi didn’t reveal his earnings to provoke Du Wushuang but changed the topic.

”There’s nothing going on now. Do you have time to show me around the city?”

”Sure, I’ll treat you to a drink.”

Hearing Gu Xi, Du Wushuang laughed happily, her carefree manner not like a girl at all.

”Let me tidy up, and then we can go.”

Gu Xi pointed towards the sky, and the Death Incarnation hovering above turned into black mist and dispersed.

Afterward, Gu Xi checked the surroundings briefly to ensure nothing was left behind, then followed Du Wushuang towards the city.

By then, Du Wushuang had removed her heavy full-body armor.

As Gu Xi guessed, Du Wushuang was a bit over five feet tall, with long black hair tied in a ponytail, and a round little face that appeared quite loli-like.

”This way, let’s eat first. Old Jason’s Dark Injury Meal is only made within an hour after a battle ends; he doesn’t make it at any other time.”

Du Wushuang ran ahead, waving at Gu Xi to follow.

Sitting on a coffin lid, Gu Xi glided smoothly behind Du Wushuang.

”Du Wushuang, I’ve never seen your mount.”

”My mount’s in training. I really envy you Undead Mages’ mounts; you can use anything that can fly, even a well cover, unlike us who need horse-type mounts and have to learn riding and practice equestrian skills.

It’s one thing for riders to learn equestrian skills, but mounts also need to learn.

My mount is such a pain.

It cost me so much money and still can’t master Charge Halt or Charge Turn.”

Perhaps because there was no longer any battle, Du Wushuang started talking endlessly.

Gu Xi casually chatted along, and they soon arrived at the northwest corner of the city.

The battle had ended, and many players were returning from the battlefield.

Gu Xi noticed most players here were slightly older, mostly middle-aged, yet their level was stuck at Level 4, unable to reach Level 5.

After a great battle, they patted each other’s backs, laughing and shouting joyfully while entering the city.

Watching them, Gu Xi felt like they just got off work and were meeting friends for a meal and drinks.

”Are they always like this?”

”Of course, this is the normal state for players. How else do you think players are?”

Gu Xi was a bit stunned. Having just graduated from the academy, he thought players were always serious, completing tasks to advance their levels.

He never imagined players could be so lively.

This showed Gu Xi another side of players, and he seemed to soften a bit as he tilted his head.

”Hurry up, we’re almost there, or we won’t make it in time.”

Unlike Gu Xi’s contemplative thoughts, Du Wushuang, realizing he was slowing down, dragged him along toward a direction.

When they reached a restaurant, players from the battlefield had filled the place.

Some players were still bandaged, some with blood-soaked bandages, and they didn’t mind at all as they crowded forward.

”Surprised, right? This is the city’s most famous restaurant; we all eat here. More importantly, their Dark Injury Meal can restore life, replenish physical strength, and even alleviate some internal injuries.

A genius like you might not know, but internal injuries can affect people. Eating a bit more of this could heal those injuries and possibly level up.”

While speaking, Du Wushuang squeezed into the crowd with Gu Xi. After waiting in a long line, they managed to buy Du Wushuang’s coveted Dark Injury Meal before it sold out.

The meal was quite simple, really just a bowl of ash-colored rice mixed with green meat chunks and dark green bug juice.

Together, it kind of resembled the Rat Wine from Alidovi Tavern.

The most important part: there weren’t even bowls provided. They couldn’t sit; they wrapped the meal in leaves, shoved it into Gu Xi’s hands, and shooed them away.

Pushed out from the crowd, Gu Xi looked at Du Wushuang standing nearby, thinking only two words.

This is it?

Du Wushuang, without many other thoughts, had already unwrapped the leaf and was grabbing at the rice mixed with dark green bug juice, eating heartily.

Seeing Gu Xi looking at her, Du Wushuang excitedly said.

”Hurry and eat. This stuff tastes amazing. Let me tell you, you can only find it here. Do you know where the bugs came from? They’re the offspring of Loose Immortal’s corpse bugs, imbued with Immortal Aura.

They’re best for internal and invisible injuries.

If it weren’t for the battle, the City Lord wouldn’t have released this stuff.”

”Hurry and eat. After we finish, I’ll take you to the tavern. There must be plenty of good stuff.

Oh, I saw you collecting white baboon pelts earlier. Did you keep them?”

”Yes, I have them.”

”Do you plan to keep them? If not, trade them with the quartermaster for good items. They’re proof of having killed enemy bosses, and each pelt can be exchanged for many good things.

Time’s wasting. Go and exchange them before all the good stuff is taken.”
