Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 124: Chapter 122: Quartermaster

Sitting on the coffin lid, Gu Xi held a lotus leaf filled with sticky rice. Although it looked unappetizing, it actually tasted quite good.

At least there wasn’t anything in its taste making Gu Xi unable to eat it.

At the same time, Gu Xi could clearly feel, as he ate the rice, his body getting warmer, as if a special power was mending the previous injuries he had.

Particularly his stomach; before his current job, Gu Xi had gone hungry for too long, and although he never really felt it, his stomach did suffer some damage.

After eating the rice this time, he felt a distinct warm sensation in his stomach.

This brought Gu Xi a great deal of satisfaction, capturing most of his attention. It wasn’t until the evil coffin stopped that Gu Xi realized he had unknowingly finished everything.

”Comrade, come quickly, I’ve already talked to the quartermaster about the situation. He agreed to make an exception and count your achievements on the way here in the kill record.”

Gu Xi looked up to find a man in his forties smiling at him.

This man had dark skin but possessed a strange kind of affinity; his smile made Gu Xi want to smile along.

”Hello, my name is Gu Xi, I came from the transportation unit.”

”I know, previously the commander drew three thousand elite troops from the city lord’s underground to deal with the war situation. The city lord then extorted five thousand flat replacements, and you’re the one who delivered these troops, right?”

Gu Xi didn’t expect there to be such a backstory to transporting troops.

For a moment, he didn’t know how to respond.

The man patted Gu Xi on the shoulder, ”You wouldn’t know, but the troops you brought gave us a huge help. If you’d been any later, we wouldn’t know what to do.

Come now, tell me about what you encountered on the road. You must have faced a lot of interception troops on your way here?”

”Yeah, it wasn’t much when I started, but the closer I got to the Scattered Immortal Garden, the stronger the interceptions got. Especially on the plains outside, the interception power was absurdly strong—I nearly couldn’t make it through.”

”Really? What kind of enemies did you kill along the way? Could you tell me about it?”

Getting into this topic, Gu Xi immediately shook off his drowsiness and quickly retrieved the white baboon skins left by the Otherworldly Ghost Bosses he killed along the way, explaining them one by one to the man.

The man listened carefully, sometimes exchanging a few words with Gu Xi.

Before he knew it, Gu Xi had recounted all his experiences on the journey.

When he placed all the white baboon skins on the table, Gu Xi realized something was amiss.

What had just happened? Why did he suddenly spill everything?

Looking at Gu Xi’s puzzled eyes, the man smiled slightly. He managed to sit in the quartermaster’s position thanks to this affinity.

After all, who would have thought that a Death Knight’s greatest talent and path followed was the Leadership Skill path, fully maxing out Diplomacy, Recruitment, and Financial Skill?

The affinity he showed was merely a manifestation of his Diplomacy Skill at a certain level.

Making Gu Xi talk so much wasn’t difficult. It was just a matter of conversational guidance.

Gu Xi unwittingly considered him a friend, which is why he shared so much.

Of course, since Gu Xi considered him a friend, he naturally also treated Gu Xi as a friend.

”I say, Brother Gu, don’t worry about what you need this time; it’s on me. Regardless of anything else, getting through the encirclement and delivering what our Scattered Immortal Garden needed is an achievement.

No matter what others say, I absolutely recognize it here.

These baboon skins—I’ll count one piece as one battle merit. You brought back two pieces, plus you mentioned taking down one on the way without a skin, so I’ll count that as half a merit.

Moreover, during the recent combat, you killed several similar bosses, and I’ll count those with baboon skins as one achievement each.

The Headless Knight, as you said, was directly blown away, so that counts as half a merit.

Altogether, I’ll give you six battle merits.

You’re an Undead Mage, so I won’t recommend anything else. The critical aspect for an Undead Mage is the Undead Corps. With six battle merits, I’ll exchange what’s most useful to you: six boss-level Undead.

Just tell me what troops you’re using, and I can find the corresponding boss.

Even if there’s none, see this skill? Special skill, Death Decree, quasi-divine skill, know what I mean?

Say what you want. Even if it’s not here, I can transform it on the spot.”

[Death Decree: All neutral creatures surrendering and joining the Undead Mage Corps will automatically transform into the corresponding Undead Creature according to their troop level and upgrade status.]

Seeing the man’s confident look, Gu Xi hesitantly asked a question.

”Does a Bone Dragon count?”

The man blinked at Gu Xi, his eyes filled with a ’what kind of joke are you making’ expression.

Are you expecting a Bone Dragon Boss? Are you from a family with a Dragon Tomb?

Even with the Death Decree special skill, he wouldn’t dare face a Giant Dragon head-on.

Let alone going to recruit a Giant Dragon and then converting it into a Bone Dragon.

”Get lost, go play on the side. Bone Dragon Boss? If I had one, I’d want it myself. We have basic Undead Bosses, we can gather promoted Undead Bosses, but the top three classes aren’t available, let alone a Bone Dragon.

If you had a Bone Dragon, an Undead Mage could instantly hit Level 10. Why would you hang around here?”

”Then I don’t have any particular demands.”

Gu Xi shook his head.

The man was at a loss at this remark.

”No, the boast I just made can’t be allowed to fall flat. I must have something you’ll find useful. Wait here.”

With that, the man pinned Gu Xi to the chair and hurried out.

The man’s actions bewildered Gu Xi, who turned to the equally puzzled Du Wushuang, ”Is he always like this?”

”No, he’s probably been provoked by you. After all, you’re the only one who came in immediately asking for a Bone Dragon Boss.”

”That was just an accident, but I do actually need a Bone Dragon Boss. Other bosses don’t mean much to me.”

As they spoke, the man returned from outside, followed by a few distinct-looking Undead.

”Come, Brother Gu, these are my prized assets. If our relationship weren’t so good, I wouldn’t have brought them out. Take a look; they’re all selected based on what you described earlier.

The best among them is this one, the Skeleton Shooter Boss, he...”

As the man introduced them, Gu Xi’s gaze fell on the figure at the end of this group of Undead.
