I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 548, Personnel for Mining

Su Bai set aside the heating system blueprints and took out another blank sheet of Wolf Tail Grass Paper, preparing to plan the matter of searching for ore.

This was a very serious matter, so it absolutely had to be treated with proper care, allowing no room for even the slightest carelessness.

Searching for ore during the snow season was vastly different from searching for ore during normal times, because the danger levels were not in the same league at all.

If the dangers of searching for ore during normal times were those Ferocious Beasts and wild beasts, then the dangers of searching for ore during the snow season were not merely those wild beasts and Ferocious Beasts, but there was another type of danger.

This type of danger was related to avalanches or other potential hazards, with the level of danger greatly increased

Besides planning for these potential dangers, he also needed to plan the locations and appearance of the ores. Because apart from himself, no one else in the Tribe recognised those ore, and even fewer people knew where ore might be found, or what ore actually looked like.

“The departing party cannot be too large; the Tribe cannot have too many Totem Warriors leave all at once, and we must keep some to deal with emergency situations,” Su Bai murmured to himself.

First, he would write down on paper a list of people suitable for searching for ore, then consider the plans afterwards.

Originally, he had wanted most people to go, but they could not have too many people leave at once, because they had to consider the Tribe’s safety.

“Secondly, most people do not know what those ores look like.”

He was also working hard to recall what ore looked like, for instance, what copper ore looked like, and what iron ore actually looked like.

He felt grateful in his heart that he had previously read through relevant books, otherwise he would be blindly searching.

“Iron ore has many types, those that can be used to craft weapons include…” Su Bai thought while transcribing onto the Wolf Tail Grass Paper.

After all, a good memory was not as reliable as poor writing; by writing it down first, he need not worry about making mistakes.

“Copper ore types are the same, with many varieties and differing appearances… Su Bai continued, his quill pen never stopping.

*Rustle, rustle, rustle…* The sound of transcription continued without pause, and the girls dared not disturb him, all remaining quietly at the side.

“Next comes the distribution areas of iron ore and copper ore. Iron ore is mostly distributed in forests, so finding it should not be difficult. The more challenging one should be copper ore.” Su Bai furrowed his brow and fell into thought.

This matter was not a simple one. Suddenly, inspiration struck him, as if he had thought of something.

Su Bai immediately stood up and walked into his room, opening two large boxes and moving all the ores out of them.

He placed several pieces of ore on the table and began examining them carefully, exclaiming excitedly, “Are these not ready-made samples of iron ore and copper ore?”

Su Bai was now somewhat overjoyed, because while thinking about how to describe the appearance of iron ore and copper ore, he had remembered that the previous Shaman seemed to have left him these items.

However, because the quantity was not large, and at the time there was no need to use these items, they had been set aside, and for a moment he had not thought of them.

“Since the Old Shaman had these items, there must certainly be these ores near the Tribe as well.” Su Bai muttered excitedly to himself.

As long as such things could be seen in this era, it meant that such things truly existed.

“Shaman, are these iron ore and copper ore?” Yan Hua could not resist her curiosity and moved closer.

She had been watching in the Shaman’s direction all along, observing everything from writing to entering the room to fetch the ore.

“Indeed, these are copper ore and iron ore. I asked you about them before, but you all did not know where they came from.” Su Bai nodded.

When he had previously seen these items, he knew that they would certainly be useful in the future.

So, at the time he had asked the girls where these items came from, but they did not know, and they did not even know that the Old Shaman had always possessed such things.

“We do not know. At that time, we did not meet with the Old Shaman very often; sometimes we would only see him from afar once every ten days or so,” Yan Hua shook her head.

The relationship with the Shaman now was very different from the relationship with the Old Shaman at that time. Back then, they dared not approach the Old Shaman, feeling that the Old Shaman’s dignity was inviolable, and that he was someone they simply could not reach.

Every time they saw the Old Shaman conducting ceremonies in the Tribe, they found it very mysterious.

The way they interacted then was completely different from how they felt with the Shaman now. Now, they could be said to be on excellent terms with the Shaman, which was something they had never dared imagine before.

“Does the Chieftain know? If the Chieftain knows, this matter would be much easier,” Su Bai asked.

Yan Hua thought carefully for a moment and said, “Although Father often meets with the Old Shaman, I am not sure whether he knows about these things.”

“Take them back and show them to the Chieftain. Ask him if he knows about them. If he does, it could save us a lot of trouble,” Su Bai said.

Yan Hua immediately took those several pieces of ore and said earnestly, “Yes, I shall take them back shortly.”

“Indeed. If he knows, have him come find me, and then I shall arrange the personnel for mining ore,” Su Bai said.

“Understood.” Yan Hua held the ore tightly and continued asking, “Shaman, shall we go together to mine ore?”

“If the Chieftain knows the precise location or where these ores come from, then you may go along. But if he does not know, then you cannot go along, because searching for ore is a very dangerous task.” Su Bai said word by word.

“Okay… I understand,” Yan Hua thought carefully and nodded.

She was not a wilful person either, and knew to respect the Shaman’s arrangements. Although the Shaman had never blamed them for anything, she herself had to do well.

She could not become careless about everything just because she received the Shaman’s care, as this would also cause the Tribe’s people to gossip, and she did not want the Shaman to fall into rumours and slander.

“Go quickly, go and return swiftly,” Su Bai waved his hand.

“Yes.” Yan Hua hugged the ore, wrapped herself in a thick cloak, and directly left the Yong’an Building.

Sha Lan watched the direction in which Yan Hua had left and said, “Shaman, we will definitely find these ores.”

Sha Lan knew the importance of ore, because many matters had been delayed due to these ores.

“Relax. Sometimes, the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment. We will eventually find a way, no?” Su Bai said calmly.

“You are absolutely right.” Sha Lan said with a beautiful smile.
