I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 501, The First Test Explosion

After more than an hour, Su Bai and the others arrived at the outer region of the Tribe. They had encountered Yan Hua and her companions just as they were coming downstairs.

So this time, there were many people in the outer region of the Tribe. Apart from those originally in the Yong’an Building, Cang Shi and the Chieftain were also present.

Because this was the first experiment with gunpowder. Naturally, management-level personnel of the Tribe needed to be present. After all, during the eternal night following the snow season, it would be these people leading the Tribe’s Warriors against those frenzied Ferocious Beasts.

“Shaman, this time we were told there would be a powerful weapon for us to see. May I ask what this weapon is?” Yan Jiao’s face was written with curiosity.

After all, when he received the news, he had also heard that this weapon would be very useful in repelling those frenzied Ferocious Beasts, so he followed them outside the Tribe with an expectant mood.

But after following them outside the Tribe, he could not see anything. He discovered that nobody was holding anything in their hands.

Even those who were carrying something only had weapons that already existed, so he was quite confused.

“Yes, Shaman, is this weapon very large? Is that why it hasn’t been brought out yet?” Cang Shi asked with a preconceived notion.

After hearing that this weapon would be used to repel frenzied Ferocious Beasts, the first thing that came to his mind was that this weapon must be very large. After all, the current bows and arrows or spears were completely useless against those exceptionally strong Ferocious Beasts. If they wanted to inflict damage on those frenzied Ferocious Beasts, the weapon would definitely need to be very large.

“The weapon has already been brought out. It’s this thing,” Su Bai tossed the explosive package in his hand.

“This is the weapon that can repel Ferocious Beasts?” Yan Jiao widened his eyes as he looked at the object wrapped in Animal Hide.

At first, he thought he had seen it wrong. How could this thing be a weapon to repel Ferocious Beasts?

“This is the weapon? It looks really small. No, the thing wrapped in Animal Hide is the weapon?” Cang Shi’s face was full of question marks. He blinked hard several times, feeling that this weapon was somewhat different from what he had imagined. Shouldn’t it be some kind of enormous weapon?

“Just watch,” Su Bai said softly.

“Qing Mu, Chi Tu, proceed as I’ve just instructed.” Su Bai commanded.

“Yes,” Qing Mu and Chi Tu replied in unison.

The two of them began to patrol around as instructed, and after ensuring that there was no one around, they brought out the prepared targets.

Those beasts were placed around the area where the explosive package was positioned, each at a different distance.

After placing the targets at the designated locations, they erected several long poles around the perimeter, then tied vines around those poles, forming a simple barrier wall.

The reason for doing this was to prevent people who were unaware of the situation from accidentally wandering in and getting injured.

“Shaman, why are you doing this?” Yan Jiao asked puzzledly, really not understanding why these beasts and that small package were being placed together.

“Could it be that this small package will let out a loud noise?” Cang Shi’s imagination suddenly ran wild, and he continued. “But these small beasts are very timid to begin with. Even without things to make a loud sound, they would just run around if we gave chase. This would be completely useless against Ferocious Beasts.”

Su Bai raised his eyebrows slightly and said with a smile. “Scare them away with sound? Hahaha, I don’t plan to do that.”

He had not expected them to think this way, but their guess was somewhat close. These explosive packages would indeed make some noise.

“Shaman, then why are you doing this?” Cang Shi was confused after his guess was refuted.

“You’ll know in a moment,” Su Bai said calmly.

He walked straight to where the explosive package was placed, then used a small bone knife to cut it open, exposing the gunpowder inside.

Afterwards, he took out the small bag of gunpowder that Yu Ying had brought out, and sprinkled it evenly beside the explosive package, forming a long, small path.

Su Bai looked up at the sky, then reached out to feel the wind direction, and muttered to himself. “This windless weather is most suitable for this primitive detonation method.”

He gradually retreated over a hundred metres, and after confirming that this distance was safe, he put away the small bag.

“Everyone, cover your ears in a moment, but don’t close your eyes.” Su Bai said with the corners of his mouth slightly upturned.

When the explosion happened in a moment, everyone needed to see it clearly, to let them get a good look at just how powerful this small thing they were doubtful about really was.

“Yes!” everyone replied belatedly, even though they did not understand.

At this moment, Su Bai was a little excited, not because he was worried about the test results, but because from today onwards, he had brought hot weapons to this Primitive Tribe.

It could be said that from today onwards, this Primitive Era would enter the age of hot weapons.

After calming himself down, Su Bai had someone light a small wooden stick, and with it, he bent down and lit the fuse.

*Sizzle, sizzle.*

That long trail of black gunpowder was ignited, and those sparkling flames continuously emitted sizzling sounds.

Cang Shi looked at those sparkling little flames, feeling somewhat unimpressed in his heart, thinking that such a small package could not possibly produce much power.

Yan Jiao was a bit different. Although he was also full of doubts, his red pupils were still staring intently at those sparkling little flames.

Yan Hua and the others were the same, especially those who had seen the manufacturing process. Their curiosity was even stronger.

At this moment, none of them dared to blink, all focusing intently on those small flames, waiting to see what would happen.
