I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 534, One Cannot Judge by Appearances

“Step step step…” Su Bai and the others, led by Ah Liv, continued walking deeper into the Green Vine Tribe. After leaving the ice surface, they stepped onto thick accumulated snow.

The group walked for a full hour before reaching the entrance of the Green Vine Tribe. The scale of the Tribe appeared roughly the same size as the Flame Dragon Tribe.

At the entrance, high wooden walls had been erected, and similarly, Totem Warriors stood guard at the gate.

However, what was different was that the entrance to the Green Vine Tribe had many tall vines. Of course, during the current snow season, these vines had all withered.

But there were so many of them that they wound continuously around the wooden walls. Looking around, the wooden walls were completely covered with these vines, though their colour was extremely withered and they were covered with accumulated snow.

“Is this the Green Vine Tribe?” Yan Hua raised her head to survey the surrounding environment of this Tribe.

She discovered that the Flame Dragon Tribe was still better. Although the area appeared roughly the same size, there were actually differences. Just the scenery at the entrance was different, and those wooden walls also looked extremely dilapidated, as if they might collapse at any moment.

Although there was snow at the entrance to the Flame Dragon Tribe, the quantity was definitely not as much as here. Moreover, the entrance to the Flame Dragon Tribe was unobstructed, and the Tribe’s people could enter and exit without being blocked.

But the Green Vine Tribe was different. The snow at the entrance was already extremely deep, piled up like a small mountain.

The Tribe’s main gate also could not open normally, because both inside and outside were piled with much accumulated snow.

“With so much snow, how are we going to get in?” Sha Lan surveyed the surroundings and found no place they could walk through. She had already begun to miss the Flame Dragon Tribe. Indeed, the difference between the two Tribes was far too great.

“We can climb over. Because the snow is very high and the gate cannot open, we can only climb over.” Ah Liv said.

When she had come out, she had done the same thing, climbing up from inside the Tribe.

“Climb in?” Sha Lan immediately shook her head, thinking that while she and the others might be able to do it, but the Shaman absolutely could not.

Ah Liv was just about to say something, but seeing Su Bai, she suddenly understood. Indeed, they could not make a Tribe’s Shaman climb up a wall, could  they?

She turned to look at her Tribe’s Totem Warriors and instructed. “Clear all the snow at the entrance so they can come in.”

Originally, she had not wanted to clear the snow because it was too time-consuming. After clearing it, it would not be long before it would be piled up again by the snow from the sky. But having just thought of the other party, she could only do this.

The group spent quite a long time just clearing the snow. After half an hour, they successfully entered the Tribe.

After Su Bai and the others walked into the Tribe, they discovered that this Tribe was not quite the same as they had imagined.

From the outside, the area seemed roughly the same size as the Flame Dragon Tribe, but inside, the number of wooden houses was far fewer. There were only about thirty or forty wooden houses, while most of the rest were Teepees.

Or they were simple structures with four walls made of wood, while the roof above was made of Animal Hide and such.

In short, this Tribe’s development appeared extremely backward. Although it could not be considered a Medium Tribe, its scale was larger than the typical Small Tribes.

“Shaman, why is this Tribe so different from ours? It doesn’t look as large as it appears to be from the outside.” Yu Ying quietly said while she was beside him.

She dared not speak too loudly, since this Tribe was not the Flame Dragon Tribe, and in someone else’s Tribe they still needed to be careful.

“Yeah, it’s not what I expected.” Su Bai responded lightly. Originally, he had thought there would be many wooden houses inside, since it was not a Small Tribe after all, yet who would have known that inside it was similar to a Small Tribe.

“No wonder she said earlier that their food was enough. It turns out there are not many people here, so they do not need to prepare too much food.” Yan Hua speculated.

“That’s not right. They should have quite a few people. Look, besides the wooden houses there are also many Teepees, and you can faintly see firelight in them, so this Tribe has quite a few people inside.” Sha Lan analysed. From the moment she entered the Tribe, she had been surveying the surroundings and observing the nearby environment.

At first, she had also thought this Tribe did not have many people. Preconceived notions had made her think that however many wooden houses there were, that was how many people there were. But afterwards, thinking about it, there were also many Teepees.

Just the number of Teepees alone was three or four times that of the wooden houses. One could imagine that this Tribe still had quite a few people.

“You’re right. I almost forgot that Teepees can also house people…” Yan Hua laughed awkwardly.

Ever since the Flame Dragon Tribe’s cement houses had been built, plus she had lived in cement houses for a very long time, and since the elimination of Teepees in the Flame Dragon Tribe, she had truly forgotten Teepees were used to house people.

In short, Yan Hua had subconsciously thought upon entering that only wooden houses were for living, which was why she had thought this Tribe did not have many people.

“Shaman, this Tribe doesn’t look very prosperous. Should we really cooperate with this Tribe?” Sha Lan asked.

At this time, what they were saying still could not be heard by others. Since they had taken the initiative to come to this Tribe, such contents could not be said in front of the Tribe members.

“Let’s see how things go first. Sometimes, one cannot judge solely based on their appearance. Sometimes the things we think are most ordinary can give us different surprises.” Su Bai said earnestly.

This principle applied everywhere, just as the saying goes: one cannot judge by appearances. Some things you still need to understand yourself before you can know.

Just like the previous Flame Dragon Tribe – had it not also been looked down upon by others? But what has it become now? Its current state was not something others could learn even if they wanted to.

“You’re right. I hope this Tribe can bring us surprises.” Sha Lan also felt this saying made great sense. She had personal experience of it—a living example who was right before her eyes.

The Shaman looked so young and handsome, completely unrelated to being a Shaman in any way. But he was even better than ordinary Shamans, just like a child of the Gods. He was simply too incredible.

At such a young age, he managed the Tribe extremely well – this was something that even older Shamans might not be able to achieve.

“Alright, stop talking now. If they hear, it would not be good.” Su Bai said lightly.

“Understood,” Sha Lan and the others immediately responded.

*Step step step…*

Su Bai and the others were brought to the entrance of a wooden house. That wooden house was clearly much larger than the other wooden houses. Moreover, looking around, there was only one such large wooden house in this Tribe. Clearly this was the Shaman’s home.
