I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 525, Life Has Changed

Translator: Silavin

Due to the arrival of the snow season, the temperature has been getting lower and lower, and the snowflakes falling from the sky have been increasing as well.

Within the Flame Dragon Tribe, there have always been people clearing the accumulated snow on the streets and on the rooftops.

Therefore, the current Flame Dragon Tribe was not filled with piles of accumulated snow everywhere, but rather the roads have been cleared and opened up.

It was precisely because of this that the people moving about within the Tribe have gradually begun to increase in number.

They were no longer hiding inside houses. Now, they have started to come out and experience the snow season.

After all, this year’s snow season was extraordinary for them, completely different from the snow seasons they have endured before.

The Animal Hide clothing they wore was far better than before, keeping them warm.

The meat distributed daily was also relatively more abundant. Unlike before when they could only get one meal a day, sometimes even only one meal every two days. The current food distribution was simply too luxurious.

Moreover, all the accumulated snow within the Tribe has been cleared away, and looking around, everything appears quite clear and beautiful.

Additionally, the shoes they wear on their feet are also different. During previous snow seasons, they went barefoot without wearing any particular footwear.

Now they not only wear Straw Sandals, but also wrap them with a layer of Animal Hide on the outside to block the cold air from entering, preventing their feet from getting frostbitten.

This method was suggested by the Sha Lan to the Tribe’s people, intended to allow them to come out of their homes. Additionally, Animal Hides were also distributed.

In just a few short hours, the Flame Dragon Tribe has already begun to bustle with activity. Those carriages have also started operating, and the Tribe’s people occasionally go to ride the carriages as well.

This scene appears as if the snow season has no impact whatsoever on the Flame Dragon Tribe, with everyone still living their lives and working their jobs.

Su Bai looked with satisfaction at the scene outside and said, “Yes, this is exactly what I wanted to see.”

What he had always wanted to see was precisely this scene, rather than the Tribe becoming empty of people as soon as it started snowing like before.

If that happens, the Tribe would become lifeless and dreary. It must become bustling with people to truly resemble a Tribe.

He has also begun constructing many workshops, allowing those people to work even when the snow season arrives.

These workshops include the Linen Workshop, ceramic workshop, papermaking workshop, brewing workshop, detergent and shampoo workshops, and so forth.

In short, the Flame Dragon Tribe now has an extraordinarily large number of workshops. These workshops are all based on things Su Bai previously created, with the technology then passed down and some people recruited to build the workshops.

This way, those people would produce large quantities of these items, and these produced goods, apart from being supplied for use by the tribe’s people, could also be taken to other tribes to exchange for some food or useful items.

After constructing these workshops, it also solved the employment problems of many people. After all, there were still many women within the Flame Dragon Tribe, and they certainly do not have the same strength as men to handle heavy labour. Workshop tasks like these, which require more delicate work, could be assigned to them.

These women working in the workshops are all originally from the Flame Dragon Tribe, as these matters are quite confidential and cannot be known by people from other Tribes.

Therefore, when these workshops recruit personnel, the first priority of consideration was if they were native residents of the Flame Dragon Tribe.

Besides this, there were many other jobs that allowed those men to work as well, namely as carpenters and stonemasons, or positions needed in shipbuilding that would also recruit people.

Carpenters and stonemasons require the most personnel because the Flame Dragon Tribe is currently in a development phase and needs an extraordinarily large number of things.

Relying solely on Gu Mu and Shan Qiu alone would be insufficient to produce everything. At this time, it becomes necessary to recruit a large number of apprentices.

Alternatively, rather than recruiting apprentices, having some unemployed men work under these two first, and then doing other work after the snow season passes would be the same. This would be equivalent to doing part-time work.

Apart from this, there is also the street snow-clearing work, which also requires many people, as the Flame Dragon Tribe was no longer the Small Tribe it once was, and its area was quite large.

Moreover, snow falls continuously every day, so accumulated snow will increase more and more. Clearing must be done once or twice almost daily, and relying on just a dozen or so people was insufficient.

Therefore, dozens of people must be recruited as reserves, so they could not take turns clearing snow while others can take the opportunity to rest.

Naturally, besides these, there were some strong and robust individuals who were not Warriors, who followed Totem Warriors or Warrior Trainees into the forest.

Because it was currently the snow season, there was practically no food or shelter outside.

Therefore, many wild beasts, if they cannot escape in time, will be frozen to death by the snow season. This allows them to go outside and collect some carcasses to bring back, which also counts as a way of supplementing food supplies.

Moreover, this type of food will not be stale, because snow falls every day and the accumulated snow outside is so thick. Even if these animals are frozen to death, it is equivalent to them being kept fresh continuously, so naturally there will be no issues with the meat becoming spoiled or rotting.

These food supplies can be brought completely into the tribe. Of course, these food supplies will not be distributed by the upper echelons; the people below can take them out and distribute them independently.

Besides these, there are some other jobs, namely weaving wooden baskets, winnowing baskets, or some other wooden products. These handicraft activities can also be assigned to them.

Although they are not carpenters, they can always figure out one or two items in a day. This is always better than staying at home idly with nothing to do.

The work within the Flame Dragon Tribe certainly does not stop there. There is also the need to search for iron ore and some other types of ores and such, as preparations must also be made for the upcoming eternal night.
