I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 522, Another Good Thing

Translator: Silavin

Due to the arrival of the snow season, the snowflakes in the sky fell increasingly heavily, instantly wrapping the entire earth in a layer of snow white colour.

Looking out across the landscape, everything was a blanket of white, with snowflakes visible everywhere while no other colours could be seen.

Even that entire expanse of primitive forest was the same, with all those tree branches completely covered by the pristine white snow, making it impossible to see the colours of the trunks.

This white snow sparkled under the sunlight, appearing particularly beautiful.

The primitive continent at this moment seemed to have donned a white overcoat, appearing particularly mysterious and dangerous.

After Su Bai got up, he stretched his body, then summoned the System in his mind to check in and collect his Assistance Package.

After Su Bai heard this name, he immediately perked up, and his previously drowsy winter feeling was swept away completely.

Looking at the book that had appeared out of thin air in his left hand, he sighed: “This truly is another great item.”

He immediately opened the book and began browsing through it seriously, the smile on his face barely containable.

“Getting this book at this time is undoubtedly like receiving charcoal in snowy weather,” Su Bai said happily to himself.

Because just a few days ago, he had been considering what the Tribe’s Warriors should wear to protect their bodies.

Although they were all Totem Warriors with Totem Power, each one possessing tremendous strength, they were still of flesh and blood, and were still easily injured, making them quite dependent on Shaman Bone Tablets at such times.

So what if they were injured when there were no Shaman Bone Tablets available? At such times, armour would become the best protection.

Although armour could not withstand very large impacts, it should be more than sufficient to block the claws of Ferocious Beasts.

Many Warriors were mostly injured due to attacks from Ferocious Beasts, so if they had armour at such times, they could avoid getting injured.

It was not that he felt sorry about the Shaman Bone Tablets, but rather that if those Warriors did not have such things available, would they not be in mortal danger?

Moreover, it was not easy for the Tribe to cultivate a Totem Warrior, so if they could suffer fewer injuries, it would be better for them to suffer fewer injuries.

“The crafting methods written in this book are not very difficult to operate either, they are all quite feasible,” Su Bai thought with satisfaction.

He felt this book was quite good, as the methods for crafting armour written inside were not too difficult.

Most importantly, it would not waste too much material, and since there were no iron mines in the Tribe currently, reducing costs was naturally preferable.

The book contained not just one or two methods for crafting armour. Since there were no iron mines, iron armour could be ruled out, and wooden armour could replace iron armour.

Apart from wooden armour, there was another method for crafting armour, namely Animal Hide armour, but this type of armour was relatively poor at resisting major damage, so it was directly eliminated.

What remained in the end was wooden armour. Wood materials were available everywhere, so there were no concerns about materials.

Since there were no iron mines currently, substituting with wooden armour would be good, as it was better than nothing.

“Later, I shall have Gu Mu begin researching and crafting one to see what the effect is like,” Su Bai murmured to himself.

He was already beginning to think about bringing this armour to the world, so it could be put to use when the snow season ended.

“But, iron mines still have not been found. Relying solely on gunpowder will not suffice,” Su Bai frowned as he thought.

He suddenly thought about what would happen after the snow season ended, namely eternal night.

After all, with the arrival of eternal night, the Ferocious Beasts would begin going mad, which was also a troublesome problem.

Although gunpowder had been created, gunpowder could not blow up all the Ferocious Beasts, and firearms were crucial in this regard.

However, the most important raw material for firearms was iron, and unfortunately, no iron mines had been found.

Without iron mines, there would be no way to manufacture firearms, and then the Tribe’s people would have no way to quickly become familiar with firearms, making it even more impossible to achieve effectiveness on the day of eternal night.

If there were firearms, there would be nothing to fear during eternal night. One would only need to fire randomly at those Ferocious Beasts from atop the wooden walls.

[It seems people must be sent to quickly search for iron mines. Crafting firearms is also a very difficult matter, and we just don’t have the luxury of time.]  Su Bai thought with furrowed brows.

Many things were needed to craft firearms, and it was not a simple matter.

[But with the arrival of the snow season, finding iron mines will not be easy. It seems other methods must be considered,] Su Bai said to himself.

He calculated that the end of the snow season was only a matter of one or two months. If iron mines could not be found during this period, alternative methods would need to be found.

[Setting traps is not very reliable either. Once those Ferocious Beasts go mad, traps would have no effect on them whatsoever.] Su Bai thought to himself, then shook his head.

He had already begun calculating various methods in his mind, then repeatedly rejecting his own ideas.

“Never mind for now. The most important thing currently is to construct a row of sentry posts on the wooden walls,” Su Bai murmured to himself.

His choice was to build individual sentry posts on top of those rows of wooden walls, so that the Tribe’s people could monitor the distant situation from above.

If anything happened, they could sound the horn at the first opportunity, allowing the Tribe’s people to prepare.

[Let me get up and have breakfast first. Thinking on an empty stomach is difficult] Su Bai thought to himself as he got up and changed his clothes.

*Creak!* He opened the door to see the fox eared girl standing at the entrance, staring at him blankly with a very strange expression on her face.

“What is going on? Why are you looking at me with such an expression?” Su Bai asked curiously.

“I heard the Shaman talking to himself in the room. I thought you were having a nightmare, but I did not dare push open the door to look,” Yu Ying said with a very aggrieved expression on her face. She had been extremely worried at first, absolutely not daring to open the door without the Shaman’s permission.

So she had been anxiously pacing back and forth at the door, then pressing her ear against the door to listen, her facial expressions could be described as rich and varied.

“Hahaha…” Su Bai laughed heartily, rubbing her head as he said. “Next time you are worried, you can open the door. You don’t need to worry about me getting angry.”

Seeing her aggrieved and worried appearance, he felt somewhat heartbroken, so he gave her this privilege.

At the same time, he thought to himself that next time he talked to himself, he should not be too loud, otherwise others hearing might think something was wrong.

“Okay,” Yu Ying breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
