I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 529, Be Careful Not to Fall and Break Your Face

*Creak, creak…*

*Woof, woof, woof…*

Ye Jiu and the others manoeuvred the sled back to Su Bai and the others; their faces filled with surprise. They had never imagined that this contraption would be so interesting, and that it could run at such speed.

Most importantly, it ran very steadily, never jolting or feeling as though it might overturn. Instead, it gave them a rather exhilarating sensation.

“Shaman, this thing called ‘sled’ is very safe. You can board it,” Ye Jiu said earnestly. She had not stopped while sitting on it, but had instead continuously observed the sled’s construction to determine whether it was safe. She had kept watching those dogs constantly, ensuring they would not go mad or run amok. Only after confirming all these points were satisfactory that she returned.

“Okay. In that case, let’s go. We shall share one sled amongst several of us.” Su Bai nodded, stepping up first.

The sled had been constructed with a rather large surface area, unlike the smaller ones on Earth, because the sleds here needed to accommodate not only passengers but also many items, including various weapons, food, and so forth. Therefore, the entire sled appeared quite substantial, with each one capable of accommodating approximately ten people.

Su Bai, several girls from Yong’an Building, along with Yue, Ye Jiu and others, boarded one sled, while the remaining Warriors took the other two.

*Creak, creak…*

*Woof, woof, woof…*

Under Ye Jiu’s control, the sled began to move and advanced forward. The two dogs ran with considerable effort, constantly panting with their tongues out and tails hanging low as they moved swiftly ahead.

Yan Hua watched the two dogs running rapidly in front, then looked down at the scenery below the mountain continuously moving backwards. As she felt the cold wind blowing against her face, she truly experienced the sensation of racing swiftly across the ice.

“This is truly exhilarating. I could play here for an entire day.” Yan Hua’s lips curved into a beautiful arc.

Sha Lan gripped the handrail beside her with one hand, gazing at the distant landscape of endless white snow, and sighed, “I never imagined it would be like this.”

This was her first time advancing rapidly across an ice surface, while she herself was seated without needing to exert any of her own strength. This feeling differed from riding in the Tribe’s carriage. At least the roads within the Tribe were surfaces they could tread upon daily, and they appeared rather more reassuring.

However, this was different. They were now upon the great river, which, although frozen, still harboured dangers everywhere, as this ice could develop problems at any moment. This was why they felt this journey was very different.

Yu Ying clung tightly to Yan Hua’s cloak beside her, as she was truly terrified. Yu Ying was the same – both were experiencing sled travel for the first time, moving at such speed across the ice surface, so their sense of security was virtually absent.

Su Bai observed her condition and reached out to grasp her hand, comforting her. “Nothing bad will happen. I am here.”

Upon hearing these words, Yu Ying’s previously tightly closed pink eyes began to open. She raised her head to look at the Shaman and nodded. “En.”

“There is no need to force yourself. Just take your time to adapt.” Su Bai gently said.

“Yes,” Yu Ying replied with a smile, immediately brightening, her facial expression visibly cheerful.

Yan Hua witnessed this scene and looked at herself, suddenly feeling rather ashamed, wondering whether she might also receive comfort if she were not so carefree.

The more she pondered, the redder her face became, and afterwards she excitedly shook her head.

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling sick?” Su Bai could not understand why Yan Hua had suddenly become like this. Had she not been quite brave beside him just moments ago? How had she suddenly appeared so delicate?

After Yan Hua regained her composure, she shook her head repeatedly, saying, “Nothing… nothing. I was merely thinking about something just now.”

Yan Hua awkwardly immediately directed her gaze forward, sharing with Ye Jiu her desire to control the sled.

*Creak, creak…* Under the dogs’ guidance, the sled ran very swiftly.

“…” Su Bai attempted to make no sound whatsoever as he stretched his legs forward slightly, as the front area of the sled was not very spacious. Additionally, he was surrounded by various girls, with Ye Jiu clinging onto him particularly closely.

On the other side were Yan Hua and Sha Lan, also positioned very near to him. Therefore, his range of movement was extremely limited. Having kept his knees bent for quite some time, he wished to stretch them forward a little.

The sensitive Yu Ying immediately detected the difference, even hearing those subtle breathing sounds.

Yu Ying immediately sat upright and said, “Shaman, you must be tired. Allow me to massage your legs.”

As Yu Ying spoke, she tucked her cloak behind her, preparing to extend her hands to help with the massage.

Su Bai grasped her with one hand and pulled her down, instructing, “It’s nothing. You must sit more steadily and be careful not to fall.”

Upon hearing this, Yu Ying immediately froze, obediently remaining motionless in her original position, her facial expression quite fearful.

She had been continuously imagining what would happen if she fell. Having just heard those words made her even more worried.

“Indeed, falling at such speed could easily injure one’s face,” Sha Lan also said earnestly from the side.

Yu Ying instinctively covered her face immediately, very concerned about what would happen if her cheeks were scratched. The Shaman would surely no longer want her as his Shaman Priestess, so under no circumstances could she allow herself to be disfigured. Her posture became even more proper.

“Ha ha ha ha…” Su Bai laughed heartily and comforted her. “Do not be too tense. Just stay close to me.”

“En…” Yu Ying grasped his hand without hesitation. At this moment, due to fear, she could not concern herself with too many other matters.

Su Bai looked down at the hands which Yu Ying was tightly embracing his arm, then raised his head with a slight smile as he looked ahead.
