I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 526, A Symbol of Status

“This alone is not enough; it needs to be even better,” Su Bai murmured to himself.

He was certainly not satisfied with the current situation, as there were still many things that needed to be done before the whole Tribe could transform into a city.

At present, the Tribe was at most slightly better than the previous Tribe, but it had not become truly excellent overall.

“Shaman, are we going to the other side of the great river today?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

Early this morning while they were having breakfast, they had roughly discussed this matter.

They mentioned going to see the situation on the other side of the great river, and if the great river froze over, there would be interesting things to do.

So, Yu Ying had been particularly excited after finishing breakfast, and could not help but ask.

“Yes, you should all prepare yourselves. We’ll set off for the other side of the great river now,” Su Bai said softly.

“Yay,” Yu Ying immediately nodded, the smile on her face beginning to become somewhat uncontainable.

“By the way, also bring along the things I asked Uncle Gu Mu and the others to make a few days ago. We’ll be able to use them today,” Su Bai added.

“Okay.” Yu Ying immediately replied.

Su Bai smiled and shook his head. He had not expected her to be so impatient. The others were the same, each person curious beyond measure, all running off to fetch their respective clothes.

He also changed into warmer clothing, draping an Animal Hide cloak over him, which was a pure black cloak.

These cloaks were obtained when the Hunting Team was hunting in the Hunting Ground. They had captured a huge black bear, so they completely skinned the bear. After being processed by people in the Tribe, it became the current enormous floor-length cloak. Just from its appearance alone, it looked very warm.

“Shaman, we’re all ready.” Yan Hua was the first to finish changing clothes, also wearing a cloak.

The cloak she was wearing was given to her by Yan Hua ‘s Father. It was a brown fox cloak made from the pelts of several large foxes, with fur that looked very smooth and was also very warm.

“Shaman, what do we need to bring?” Sha Lan asked curiously, wearing a light grey cloak.

This cloak was given to her by Sha Hong, also obtained during hunting, stripped from several lone wolves.

All the girls living in Yong’an Building had cloaks, and Yu Ying was no exception.

Of course, Sha Lan and Yan Hua both had Family members who helped make their cloaks. Yu Ying’s cloak was given by Su Bai—a pink cloak, also made from skin stripped from wild beasts.

It could be said that within the Flame Dragon Tribe, cloaks had become a symbol of status. If one’s status was not very high, there was no way to wear a cloak. This was because making cloaks required a great deal of Animal Hide. For ordinary people in the Tribe, the Animal Hide they wore was distributed by the Tribe. So, they simply had no extra Animal Hide to use for making cloaks. Using those materials just to make clothes for warmth was already insufficient, so where would there be surplus for making cloaks?

Therefore, if someone wore a cloak, their Family circumstances must be quite good, or they were people with relatively high status in the Tribe. Only such people were qualified to wear them.

“Shaman, I won’t go with you. I still need to continue my research,” Co Co said without changing any clothes.

The timid girl was still immersed in research beyond extrication. She did not participate in many activities, and sometimes when it was time to eat, she did not want to go, but waited until she was busy and others reminded her before remembering to eat.

“Fine, but remember to pay attention to rest and don’t overwork yourself, otherwise I won’t let you continue researching.” Su Bai said seriously.

Although Co Co was very diligent, there was no reason to ruin her health over it.

Co Co’s intelligence was very rare, so the Tribe’s future development would greatly need to use her abilities. However, before all else, she needs to take care of her health first.

“It’s okay, Shaman. I’ll make sure I rest properly. After I finish researching in a moment, I’ll take an afternoon nap.” Co Co said without hesitation.

She loved research far too much and naturally did not want her research to be interrupted, so she could only obediently listen.

“Alright then, we’ll go first. Remember to rest, okay?” Su Bai smiled and was the first to walk out of the second floor, with the others following behind.

*Step step step…*

After everyone left the Yong’an Building, they walked directly towards the great river. Apart from the few of them, quite a few Totem Warriors and Warrior Trainees from the Tribe also followed.

After all, they were going to the other side of the great river, and moreover, they were leaving the Tribe. Of course, they had to ensure the Shaman’s safety. This time, there were more than twenty people travelling together.

“Actually, we don’t need so many people. At this time, there won’t be any Ferocious Beasts.” Su Bai said helplessly, looking at so many people behind him.

Although he knew those people were all there to protect his safety, he had Danger Foresight, so he really did not need so many people.

There was no need to take so many people just to go look at the great river. This was really making a mountain out of a molehill, and it would also delay progress on other matters.

“Shaman, your safety must be the top priority,” Sha Lan said without hesitation.

She tugged at the grey cloak on her body, feeling somewhat unaccustomed to this thing, although it was indeed very warm.

This cloak had only existed since Su Bai came to the Tribe, because it was very simple to make and also very warm.

“Yes, we absolutely cannot let anything happen to you,” Yan Hua immediately said as well. The military knife on her was already prepared. If anything happened, she would definitely charge to the front.

The Totem Warriors who came along this time included Yue, Ye Jiu, Ah Ruo, He Chuan, and others.

These people were also all wearing cloaks. Of course, the quality of the cloaks they wore was not as good as Su Bai’s.

Moreover, the styles did not look as grand. On the contrary, they were rather simple and also shorter. This was so that if danger occurred, it would be more convenient to move about.

They were able to receive cloaks not only because they were Totem Warriors, but also because some had outstanding performance in the Tribe. Naturally, they could also receive cloaks.

However, to distinguish them from the Shaman, the Animal Hide quality of their cloaks would not be as good, but it would not be poor either. It was just slightly inferior compared to the Shaman’s.

“Don’t worry, my perception of danger is better than yours, so don’t be too tense. Since we’re coming out to have fun this time, relax a bit.” Su Bai said softly.

He saw that everyone’s expressions were extraordinarily serious and could not help but feel everyone was a bit too rigid. Although he knew they were all doing the right thing, having the atmosphere too tense all the time was not very good either.
