I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 500, This Weapon Seems Like It’s Just for Show

*Step step step…* A rapid succession of footsteps sounded as Yu Ying carried a large pile of materials towards the second floor of the Yong’an Building.

Yu Ying placed all those items on the table, and with a gentle smile said, “Shaman, I’ve found all the things you asked for.”

Yu Ying had gathered everything according to the description, including sulphur, charcoal, and honey.

Su Bai walked over to the items and briefly looked through them, nodding with satisfaction: “Yes, these are exactly what I needed.”

“Shaman, can we start making gunpowder now?” Yu Ying asked expectantly.

Although she was primarily interested in making food, now that she had heard this thing was powerful and useful for the Tribe, she naturally became interested.

Moreover, all the materials she had gathered were quite strange, and she did not understand why items like charcoal and honey were needed.

“Yes, we can start mixing them according to the proper ratios,” Su Bai nodded.

He first took out the saltpetre he had found in the room and began using stone tools to grind it into powder.

This operation was not simple; the hardness of the saltpetre was beyond his expectations.

He had initially thought it would be quite easy, as saltpetre on Earth was not difficult to grind, but he had just expended considerable effort to grind that saltpetre into powder.

If his Physique had not been continuously improving since he transmigrated, perhaps grinding the saltpetre into powder would have been truly challenging.

After grinding the saltpetre, he began grinding the charcoal into powder. All of these materials needed to be turned into powder to proceed.

Charcoal was much simpler to convert to powder, and the same was true for sulphur; these two materials effortlessly became powder.

“Shaman, didn’t you say it was gunpowder? Now that everything has been turned into powder, can it still be effective?” Co Co curiously asked.

She had already thought it was a bit far-fetched to use these materials to create a weapon to repel Ferocious Beasts, but now he was turning everything into powder.

Although she did not understand why he was doing this, she definitely knew that these powders could not possibly have any lethal power.

“This is an essential process in making gunpowder. You’ll understand when you see the final product.” Su Bai didn’t want to explain too much at the moment.

“Alright,” Co Co nodded seriously and continued watching attentively.

Su Bai began preparing the other materials, and half an hour later, everything was ready.

He began sifting and pounding the powders. On Earth, these materials would be processed until all particles were uniform in size. Only when all the powder was uniformly processed would the gunpowder’s performance improve.

Throughout the entire gunpowder-making process, Su Bai did not use a single metal item. This was to prevent accidents related to static electricity.

Even a small amount of static electricity could ignite the gunpowder; using metal containers would be suicidal.

Most of the tools he used were made of raw wood, or stones wrapped in Beast Hide, which effectively reduced the possibility of such accidents.

“That should do it,” Su Bai muttered to himself, using a simple balance scale he had previously made to weigh some gunpowder.

He weighed out about twenty pounds of gunpowder, approximately eighteen kilograms, then placed this gunpowder onto a piece of Beast Hide.

The prepared black gunpowder was placed in the centre of the Beast Hide, then Su Bai took other pieces of Beast Hide to cover it, wrapping it in multiple layers before securing it tightly with vines.

“There we go,” Su Bai looked with satisfaction at the small explosive package he had made.

Although he had always known the method, this was the first time he had actually made it himself.

“Shaman, is that it? Can this small package really have an effect on those Ferocious Beasts?” Co Co looked incredulously at the small explosive package.

In her eyes, it was merely some powder wrapped in Beast Hide, and it was very difficult to associate it with a weapon of great destructive power.

Not to mention that this weapon was meant to repel enraged Ferocious Beasts—it seemed this small package would struggle to repel even ordinary beasts!

“Shaman, how do we use this weapon? It doesn’t seem to have much killing power.” Yu Ying asked.

Yu Ying’s thoughts were the same as Co Co’s, but having spent more time with the Shaman, she spoke her mind directly.

Neither of them believed this package could serve as a weapon. Perhaps it was meant to be thrown?

Moreover, this package had a strange smell. Would the enraged Ferocious Beasts become docile after smelling it?

Or perhaps when the package collided with the enraged Ferocious Beasts, the powder would scatter and frighten them?

The two girls had significant doubts in their minds, unable to imagine how this small thing could cause great damage.

“Hahaha. Don’t underestimate this little thing; you won’t want to be close when it shows its true power.” Su Bai heartily laughed.

Seeing the stunned expressions on the two girls’ faces made him want to laugh, though he understood their scepticism.

Anyone who saw this small package and tried to connect it with a powerful weapon capable of repelling Ferocious Beasts would find it implausible.

If he had not been well aware of the might of gunpowder, he might not have believed it himself.

“Hmm… Shaman, then how do we use this thing?” Co Co asked curiously.

Seeing the Shaman’s confident expression, and reconsidering her earlier thoughts, she wondered if perhaps she had been mistaken. Maybe this really was a powerful weapon?

“It requires fire, doesn’t it?” Yu Ying guessed, associating it with the weapon’s name.

“Let me make a few more first, then we’ll go outside the Tribe to test them, and you’ll understand,” Su Bai said calmly.

“Yes,” the two replied in unison, continuing to watch with curiosity.

Su Bai lowered his head and repeated the previous operation, quickly making many more small explosive packages.

“Shaman, we have so many now. Can we go and experiment with them?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

Yu Ying was already a bit impatient, continuously swishing her fox tail while watching.

Co Co was equally curious. Initially, her attention had been on the explosive packages, but after noticing Yu Ying constantly wagging her pink fox tail, her attention gradually shifted towards that.

“Let’s go. Take these things and we’ll go outside the Tribe,” Su Bai handed over a small bag he had just filled.

“Yes,” Yu Ying took the small package and followed closely behind.
