I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 519, Something Warm and Cosy

Translator: Silavin

In the early morning, a warm ray of light descended as snowflakes began to drift down from the sky.

The snow season had quietly arrived, and the temperature suddenly started to drop, lowering drastically.

Snowflakes fell from the sky like rain, so dense that one could not see any gaps between them.

It had begun in the morning with just a few flakes falling here and there, but within a mere two hours, the snowflakes came down in flurries like unbridled wild horses.

In an instant, the entire Flame Dragon Tribe was covered in silver, looking like a vast expanse of white everywhere.

At this moment, the Flame Dragon Tribe appeared as if it had been covered with a white carpet, looking absolutely beautiful, giving a completely different feeling from its usual appearance.

Usually, the Flame Dragon Tribe was either filled with green plants or golden leaves, but now seeing the ground completely white was a first.

Su Bai stood by the floor-to-ceiling window looking at the snow scene outside, murmuring to himself. “The Tribe looks quite beautiful like this.”

The Tribe’s scenery at this moment matched his name, as they both contained the character ‘white(白)’.

However, he still quite enjoyed watching the snow, as he had never seen snow like this on Earth.

He had lived in the southern part of Earth, and had been writing novels without going out much. Therefore, there had never been any opportunities to travel outside or see snow, which meant this was the first time in his life seeing snow.

He raised his head to watch the snowflakes falling from the sky, as if they were falling into his black pupils. Combined with the burning charcoal in the living room, it gave off a warm feeling.

At this moment, the temperature inside the Yong’an Building was completely different from the outside, and Su Bai felt a bit curious to try the temperature outside.

“Shaman, please wear more clothes, be careful not to catch a cold.” Yu Ying said with concern, holding an Animal Hide cape in her hands.

“It’s fine, the temperature here is still very warm, no need to wear it if I’m not going outside.” Su Bai shook his head and said.

Currently, he was wearing an Animal Hide shirt and trousers, and with a charcoal basin heating the hall, he did not feel cold at all.

“Shaman, would you like to go outside and take a look? The snow isn’t too heavy yet, but by evening, it might start to get heavier,” Yu Ying asked softly.

Yu Ying had noticed the Shaman standing by the window looking outside for a full half hour and guessed that he might want to go out.

“What is the process of snowfall during the snow season?” Su Bai asked, wanting to clarify whether it would continue snowing heavily or vary between heavy and light.

“At the beginning, in the morning, there are tiny snowflakes, but by evening they become especially large. After that, it will continue to snow every day, sometimes getting heavier, but never lighter,” Yu Ying explained.

This was Yu Ying’s lifelong experience; every snow season had been like this, without exception.

“Let’s go, let’s head outside and take a look.” Su Bai smiled, after all, it was his first time seeing snow, so he wanted to experience it.

Since today the snow was not too heavy, naturally he wanted to take advantage of this day to experience it. Why wait until there is a blizzard?

“Yes, then please wear this Animal Hide cape, Shaman, it will keep you warmer,” Yu Ying immediately said.

She was really worried that the Shaman might catch a cold, as the snow season was very cold, and one could easily fall ill or freeze to death if not careful.

“Since we’re going out to see the snow, let’s change our gear.” Su Bai suddenly said.

He looked down at the Straw Sandals he was wearing, knowing that wearing such shoes outside would definitely be cold. Although he now had a scarf, foot warmth was still essential.

“Gear? What gear should we change?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

“Haven’t you noticed our toes are exposed? Wearing these outside would definitely be cold,” Su Bai said softly.

Yu Ying instinctively looked down at her feet, and her tiny toes involuntarily wiggled a bit.

She looked up with a silly smile, saying. “Oh yes, going out like this would definitely be cold, but we don’t have any other options.”

Although this was something they had always known, the Tribe’s people had never solved this issue, as they rarely left the Tribe during the snow season.

“We can make warmer footwear that covers all our toes.” Su Bai smiled.

His first thought was snow boots, which were very warm on Earth. Moreover, making snow boots in this era was not difficult at all; they just needed to use Animal Hide.

They could use Straw Sandals as a template, then wrap animal hide around the outside of the sandals. This would protect against the cold wind, and they could also use Smooth Skin Lizard Hide on the bottom for waterproofing.

“Snow boots?” Yu Ying heard another new term.

“Yes, they’re not difficult to make. Go prepare some…” Su Bai listed the materials needed for making snow boots.

“Alright, I’ll go right away,” Yu Ying said without hesitation, turning to run and prepare.

*Step step step…*

Ten minutes later, Yu Ying brought back the materials for making snow boots, and Su Bai began to craft them according to his design.

After making his own, he had Yu Ying learn to make hers, reminding her to pay attention to the sizing.

It took the two of them a full half hour to complete the fuzzy shoes for their feet.

“Shaman, these shoes look really nice and feel so warm,” Yu Ying exclaimed with delight.

She looked down at the snow boots on her feet, her expression could not be more satisfied, and she kept spinning in circles on the spot.

“Let’s go,” Su Bai smiled.
