I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 505, Two People in the Forest

*Rustle rustle…* Two people were rapidly moving through the dense forest, undaunted by the blazing Sun overhead, their eyes fixed straight ahead. They moved with remarkable speed, not even feeling the pain when branches scraped against their hands.

The Animal Hides they wore fit their bodies perfectly, making it easy for them to run.

The two alternated between darting across the ground and leaping into trees to avoid the wild beasts below.

It seemed as though nothing in their surroundings could make them pause.

Half an hour later, the two stopped before a small river, washing their faces and taking a brief rest.

“How much longer do we have to go?” A middle-aged man suddenly asked.

The middle-aged man’s name was Feng, an Early-Stage Totem Warrior with a towering, muscular build of 1.85 metres. His bald head and several scars on his face gave him an especially fierce appearance. His upper body was bare, without any Animal Hide covering, making his muscular contours particularly prominent, bulging like mountain peaks.

“I don’t know either. According to what they said, it might take another two or three days…” Replied the other, more slender man.

The person currently washing his face with river water was called Zhu, about 30 years old and only 175 centimetres tall.

Unlike Feng, he did not have a body full of muscles; in fact, he appeared quite gaunt. However, his hair was exceptionally long, reaching his waist, and both his hair and teeth were black.

His sunken cheeks and prominent cheekbones gave him the appearance of someone particularly scheming.

“So many more days? If we dawdle any longer, the snow season will be upon us.” Feng complained, clearly dissatisfied.

The two were sent by the Dark Scorpion Tribe to investigate why the Black Snake Tribe had been destroyed.

Or, if the opportunity arose, to help annihilate the Flame Dragon Tribe in revenge.

“There’s nothing we can do about it. If the snow season arrives sooner than expected, we’ll just have to visit nearby Tribes.” Zhu shrugged.

Their Dark Scorpion Tribe had affiliated Tribes in many places, so they were a bit worried about having nowhere to go.

After speaking, he continued to scoop up the river water to wash his face. After travelling for so long, his entire body felt uncomfortable, so he needed to properly refresh himself with the river water.

“I’m truly unlucky to be assigned to investigate this…” Feng said with annoyance.

He disliked doing this kind of work the most—investigative tasks.

“It can’t be helped. Do you think I enjoy doing this too?” Zhu retorted. He also did not like this type of work, but unfortunately, the two of them worked very well together, which was why they were assigned to this task together.

“Let’s go. Let’s just quickly finish this investigation and wrap things up.” Feng urged.

He had been planning to stay comfortably in the Tribe, waiting for the snow season to arrive, which would have allowed him to enjoy those peaceful few days.

Unexpectedly, he was sent on a mission just as the snow season approached, filling him with resentment.

“En.” Zhu stood up and shook his hands to dry them.

*Step step step…*

After drinking plenty of water by the river, the two set off, continuing towards the Flame Dragon Tribe.

*Rustle rustle…*

*Swish swish swish…*

Various sounds of branches being brushed aside echoed as they resumed their frantic pace.

“How could the Black Snake Tribe have been defeated so easily?” Feng asked curiously.

When he first received the mission, hearing the process had confused him. The Black Snake Tribe was considered quite formidable among the affiliated Tribes, yet they had been easily eliminated.

“Who knows? That’s why we’re here to investigate.” Zhu said, waving his hand dismissively.

However, he had also been shocked when he first heard the news. That Tribe had been considered the least worrisome, yet it was the first to fall.

“The Flame Dragon Tribe must have some skills; otherwise, they couldn’t have defeated the Black Snake Tribe. We need to be careful this time.” Feng said. He felt that this matter was grave and might be difficult to investigate.

“I know. Let’s first find people near the Flame Dragon Tribe to question, then sneak in the Tribe to get more details.” Zhu said.

This had been his plan since accepting the mission, contemplating how to approach the situation.

“Speaking of which, what kind of Tribe is the Flame Dragon Tribe? A Large Tribe? Why haven’t I heard of them before?” Feng frowned.

He had been confused when he first heard the name of this Tribe, as it was one he had never heard of before, yet their strength was evidently considerable.

“I don’t know either, but they couldn’t have defeated the Black Snake Tribe so easily unless they were very strong.” Zhu found this mission particularly troublesome.

What truly made the situation difficult was their lack of knowledge about the Flame Dragon Tribe.

As the saying goes, ‘know yourself and your enemy, and you’ll win every battle’. Now, knowing nothing about their opponent left them feeling lost.

“We’ll just have to take it one step at a time. But when they hear our name, they’ll surely back down.” Feng said with certainty.

The Dark Scorpion Tribe was well-known in this Primitive Era, though admittedly only for its notoriety.

“That’s true. It’s our trump card in critical moments!” Zhu found this reasoning sound.

“All right, let’s get moving, or we won’t reach a suitable place to sleep tonight.” Feng said, continuing to run forward.

“It’s your turn to hunt tonight, okay!?” Zhu shouted from behind.

“Whoever touches the ground last has to hunt!” Feng called back without turning his head.

Zhu rolled his eyes and said. “In that case, you won’t have anything to eat tonight.”
