Naruto: Orochimaru's Disciple

Chapter 500: Chapter 500: Methods for Detecting Chakra!

Chapter 500: Methods for Detecting Chakra!

Kenichi did not continue looking at the experimental log Orochimaru had placed on the table.

Who knew whether Orochimaru had deliberately put it there?

After all, Orochimaru had done similar things before, which had led Kenichi to always maintain a certain vigilance toward his teacher. It was to avoid accidentally falling into one of Orochimaru’s traps.

Although Kenichi’s strength had grown considerably now, and he had enough chance of winning even against Orochimaru, Kenichi still felt there was no need to fight his teacher to the death.

Just as he was about to leave, Kenichi saw a pair of bright eyes looking at him.

This made Kenichi pause.

But he quickly realized that Orochimaru had woken up.

”Teacher, you’re awake?”

Kenichi asked with a smile, looking at Orochimaru.

Orochimaru nodded, then brushed his hair back and calmly sat up.

His gaze then fell on the experimental log he had placed on the table.

Orochimaru calmly put the experimental log away.

”You saw it?”

Orochimaru asked Kenichi while putting away the experimental log.

Kenichi smiled when he heard this.

”I saw it, but Teacher, if your soul has a problem, I think we can brainstorm and solve it together. After all, Mr. Amado went to the Pure Land, so he should have a more comprehensive understanding of souls.”

Kenichi looked at Orochimaru and admitted it naturally.

After all, Orochimaru was not an idiot.

How could he not guess?

Instead of being secretive and causing suspicion, it was better to be straightforward.

Orochimaru glanced at Kenichi.

Of course, he knew that Amado had been to the Pure Land and had a deep understanding of souls.

However, the soul was too important.

Orochimaru would not consider seeking help from others unless he had absolutely no other option.

He had not even mentioned this experiment to his disciple, Kenichi.

”Why did you come to see me?”

Orochimaru put away the experimental log and asked his student.

Since Kenichi established the Land of Flame, the entire Shinobi World had become busy.

However, despite the busyness, there were not too many disputes.

This made Orochimaru, who had grown up in an era of war, a little unaccustomed to things.

After all, during wartime, killing and being killed were very common, and Orochimaru was used to that life of walking on the edge.

However, although Orochimaru did not pay much attention to these power transitions, it was ultimately his student’s business.

So Orochimaru was very clear about how much the Land of Flame needed Kenichi’s presence now.

One could even say that Kenichi should have been incredibly busy, just like the Fourth Hokage, Minato, who had once been constantly overwhelmed.

But now that Kenichi had come here, it meant that Kenichi definitely needed Orochimaru’s help with something.

”Hehehe, as expected of Teacher. You saw through my thoughts so quickly. Actually, Teacher, this is what I was thinking...”

Kenichi took out the Samehada clone he had created earlier and explained his idea to Orochimaru.

Orochimaru listened quietly.

But as he listened, Orochimaru became somewhat excited.

Orochimaru was still Orochimaru, after all.

He naturally understood that if this matter succeeded, it would be a huge change for this world.

Moreover, chakra indeed possessed powerful potential.

If the research truly succeeded, then the future might completely change the situation of this world.

The prosperous development of the Shinobi World could be expected.

”So, you want me to help you take charge of this project?”

Orochimaru understood Kenichi’s meaning.

Kenichi hurriedly nodded.

He really did not have that much time to fuss over these things.

The most difficult part of the engine had already been overcome.

If it was Orochimaru, then surely by the time Kenichi came out of seclusion, Orochimaru would have already resolved this matter.

”No problem. I’m also very interested in what you’re talking about.”

Orochimaru agreed with a smile.

Kenichi also breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as Orochimaru agreed, he only needed to hand this matter over to him.

Then he could start working on what he had thought of before.

After Orochimaru took the item Kenichi handed him, he left in a hurry.

He planned to find Amado to discuss the composition and research methods of this item, then quickly produce a perfect version.

As for what his disciple wanted to do, Orochimaru had no interest in asking.

Kenichi would tell him eventually anyway.

After Orochimaru left, Kenichi returned to his laboratory.

The clones had not grown up yet, but that did not matter.

Kenichi could use this time to research what he wanted to research.

Kenichi sat in the laboratory, brewing tea.

The boiling water enveloped the tea leaves, and a faint tea aroma spread through the air as steam slowly drifted upward.

”Steam...”

Kenichi looked at the steam in front of him, but some strange thoughts drifted through his mind.

He thought of something interesting.

Scientists had initially believed that the formation of clouds and mist occurred when water vapor rose and encountered dust, forming condensation nuclei, which then developed into clouds and mist.

After all, the presence of clouds and mist often required condensation nuclei.

However, later, a scientist proposed a new idea, and his argument succeeded.

And he also won the Nobel Prize in Physics.

”That thing is...”

Kenichi suddenly stood up.

He remembered.

The Wilson Cloud Chamber.

A device that created supersaturated vapor.

Its primary purpose was to study things invisible to the naked eye, such as radiation or high-energy charged particles.

Radiation formed condensation nuclei in this supersaturated vapor, creating a specific shape, which then allowed people to study unseen radiation or particles.

This was also a method of observing radiation.

However, in the Shinobi World, Kenichi felt that this thing might have other uses.

After all, while chakra could be observed through special means, chakra itself was also invisible to the naked eye.

Under such circumstances, chakra should also be observable through something like the Wilson Cloud Chamber.

Kenichi became a little excited.

The principle of the Wilson Cloud Chamber was to create supersaturated vapor through sufficiently low temperature and low pressure.

Supersaturated vapor could form condensation nuclei under the action of ions, thus turning into mist.

In this way, the specific shape of things that were originally invisible to the naked eye could be observed.

This thing was not a very profound science in his previous life, but placed into this world, it was a very convenient and easy-to-verify tool.

Moreover, compared to high-precision laboratory equipment with higher technological requirements in his previous life, this Wilson Cloud Chamber would be relatively simpler.

First, a sealed space was needed.

Then a large amount of water had to evaporate, then condense.

When that happened, if he condensed chakra, he might be able to see the chakra fluctuations.

So the question was, besides condensation, were there any other ways to create a Wilson Cloud Chamber?

For example, steam from boiling water?

Kenichi did not know.

He had not tried it.

But Kenichi felt that since so many scientists in his previous life had not thought of using steam from boiling water, the boiling water method probably would not work.

How should he make a Wilson Cloud Chamber?

First, he needed a glass cover, then a sufficiently sealed space.

Otherwise, supersaturated vapor could not be produced.

At the same time, to meet the requirements for supersaturated vapor, sufficiently low temperature was also needed.

It should also be noted that supersaturated water vapor could be replaced by ethanol.

But in that case, an electrode would be needed to generate heat, causing the ethanol to form mist for observation.

Cooling it down?

In such a hot summer?

It was not impossible.

When Kenichi was strolling around the new capital, he had seen merchants selling popsicles and other things.

He could make cold by buying an icebox, but the simplest method was to use dry ice and alcohol to quickly and easily make a Wilson Cloud Chamber.

Although it would be quite different from a laboratory-grade Wilson Cloud Chamber, it would be sufficient for observation.

Although these things were somewhat cumbersome, finding them in the now unified Shinobi World was not particularly difficult.

Kenichi easily obtained these small items he needed from Shiori, then began to build a Wilson Cloud Chamber himself.

Although the simplified version of the Wilson Cloud Chamber was rather crude and could not compare to the high-precision equipment in professional laboratories, Kenichi was content with it in the Shinobi World.

Moreover, with the Wilson Cloud Chamber, he might also be able to detect the presence of chakra through other methods.

Everything was difficult at the beginning.

After solving the initial part, one would discover that the later parts were also very difficult.

But at least it was a good start, wasn’t it?

He saturated a sponge with alcohol, then placed the sponge inside a glass dome.

He connected it with electrodes so that it could be heated from outside the dome.

Then he sealed the glass dome, used electricity to evaporate the alcohol, and finally cooled the dome with dry ice to meet the basic conditions for a Wilson Cloud Chamber.

Looking at the crude Wilson Cloud Chamber in front of him, Kenichi reached out his hand, and chakra condensed in his palm.

At the same time, a thin layer of mist appeared inside the Wilson Cloud Chamber, forming a peculiar shape.

It somewhat resembled a flower, but with many spreading branches.

Kenichi looked at this miraculous scene and could not help revealing a satisfied smile.

The Wilson Cloud Chamber had succeeded.

This proved that chakra fluctuations could be observed through this method.

However, this basic success was not enough to satisfy Kenichi.

Kenichi needed other methods to detect the chakra within distant enemies, because he could not always expect those enemies to be using chakra ninjutsu.

Kenichi thought of nuclear radiation.

Nuclear radiation was somewhat similar to chakra in that it could not be observed by conventional means.

However, in his previous life, people had created tools to observe nuclear radiation, providing a clear method to determine its presence.

Now, Kenichi was wondering whether he could create a similar tool.

However, the method of detecting nuclear radiation...

Radiation itself was invisible to the naked eye, but it could be detected by special instruments.

In this regard, nuclear radiation and chakra were actually very similar.

So, since nuclear radiation detectors could detect radiation and even accurately distinguish radiation levels, chakra might also be detectable through a similar method.

Kenichi then thought of his clone who was still studying nuclear physics.

Thinking of this, Kenichi carefully recalled the relevant content of the nuclear physics book.

Surprisingly, he really found some useful things.

[Measuring radiation dose by the current generated when electrons and positive ions produced by ionizing radiation move. This was the earliest working method for radiation detectors.]

[Radiation interacting with matter can cause the photoelectric effect, positron annihilation, and Compton scattering.]

[Ionizing radiation excites surrounding molecules, then excites the remaining electrons. Electrons and positive ions move in a strong electric field and generate current. Current is correlated with radiation, and radiation can be measured by this method.]

Kenichi put down the book in his hand and looked blankly at the laboratory ceiling.

Knowledge had entered his brain in a crude way.

His brain was now shaped like knowledge.

What was this ionizing radiation anyway?

What was an electron?

Why was the generation of current correlated with the dose and type of radiation?

However, this at least provided a direction.

Kenichi felt that he could research whether the interaction between chakra and matter would cause any strange reactions.

If so, he could use this method to create something that could detect chakra.

As long as he did not reveal it, no one in the Shinobi World would know.

Kenichi could then use this method to detect Black Zetsu and the mysterious Jigen.

Once successful, unless those two were incredibly clever and figured out how he was detecting them, Kenichi would have a complete advantage against them.

At that point, he would shift from defense to offense, and his probability of victory would also become greater.

”Ah, let me think. If I want to make a radiation detection device, the materials needed are...”

Kenichi scratched his head, then buried himself in experiments.
