Chapter 480: Chapter 480: The Concept of a Genetic Weapon

Chapter 480: The Concept of a Genetic Weapon

Kenichi had considered that possibility before.

After all, by the end of the Naruto manga, only Madara and Sasuke had awakened the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

No one else had.

Because of that, Kenichi suspected that one of the conditions for awakening the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan might be possessing Otsutsuki Clan genes.

”I didn’t expect this conclusion to be somewhat similar to Naruto’s core theme.”

Kenichi felt a little exasperated.

In its later stages, the Naruto anime had also been labeled as a ”bloodline theory” anime, similar to One Piece next door, damaging its reputation to some extent.

It was undeniable that Naruto and Sasuke had put in tremendous effort to become stronger.

But the so-called poor boy turned out to be the son of the Fourth Hokage.

Just when people had accepted that, it was revealed that Naruto was actually the reincarnation of Asura, the son of the Sage of Six Paths.

Sasuke was also the reincarnation of the Sage of Six Paths’ son.

Thus, they were inherently different from others.

They possessed the qualifications to become strong from the very beginning.

The previously strongest figures in the Shinobi World, Hashirama and Madara, were also reincarnations of the Sage of Six Paths’ sons, which was why they were so powerful.

Naturally, Naruto and Sasuke could be just as strong, or even stronger.

This was equivalent to Kishimoto giving Naruto and Sasuke a cheat.

Naturally, it drew criticism, because this setting had been added later.

At least at the beginning of the manga, Naruto had shown no sign of being the reincarnation of the Sage of Six Paths’ son.

The test subject Kenichi had chosen this time had already awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, but the genes transplanted into him came from Obito, not Sasuke or Madara.

”Although I didn’t have Madara’s genes before, I do now. However, I personally still prefer Sasuke’s genes.”

Kenichi scratched his head.

The main reason was that seeing Madara made him a little uncomfortable, giving him an urgent impulse to punch him.

After all, Madara had caused Kenichi a lot of trouble before.

But to control the variables, and to avoid wasting time cultivating clones if another situation like today’s happened again, Kenichi ultimately chose to cultivate clones of test subjects who had received Madara’s genes and Sasuke’s genes.

Over the next few days, Kenichi extracted Madara’s genes from the residual body tissue he had on hand, then implanted them into a captured Iwagakure ninja, transforming him into someone with Madara’s genes.

Afterward, he similarly created a Sasuke test subject, then extracted the genes from both individuals to create clones and placed them in nutrient pods.

Now, he needed to wait for a while.

At least more than a month.

”So now the question is, what about my clone?”

Kenichi looked at his other self in the nutrient pod, his expression somewhat strange.

His clone was still growing.

At this rate, by the time the Madara and Sasuke clones grew to a suitable age for the Mangekyo awakening stimulation surgery, his own clone would already be in his thirties.

”Cryopreservation.”

Kenichi thought of an interesting technology.

This technology had promising prospects, but it was very difficult.

Human cells crystallized after cryopreservation, and crystallization was devastating to cells.

Overcoming cell crystallization during human cryopreservation was a major challenge for this technology.

However, in the Shinobi World, people here seemed to possess other technologies, such as what had happened to Hikari.

She had been sealed during the Warring States Period, yet she was still alive now.

Although she had not truly lived for that long, Hikari could be considered to have undergone an alternative cryopreservation technique, allowing her to survive from the Warring States Period to the present.

If the thing that had sealed Hikari had not been damaged, Kenichi would have wanted to seal his clone inside it.

Otherwise, seeing an older version of himself in the future would feel far too strange.

But Kenichi quickly thought of a solution.

He cultivated four more clones of himself.

This way, he could also use his own clones for an experiment and obtain more experimental data.

Waiting for the clones to grow was time-consuming, so Kenichi left the laboratory.

There was nothing he needed to do in the lab now.

He only needed to check on the clones’ growth rate later.

After leaving Amado’s laboratory, Kenichi felt somewhat idle again.

The Shinobi World had just ended a war.

The other Ninja Villages were still licking their wounds and were temporarily unable to cause trouble.

Black Zetsu had also formed a temporary cooperative relationship with Kenichi, and Kenichi had used this method to gain temporary development time.

Therefore, the current Shinobi World could be described as free of war.

”This is a good opportunity to do some research.”

Kenichi stretched, then ducked into the laboratory.

Since research on the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan was temporarily impossible, Kenichi could do other things.

For example, he could start some long-delayed research.

He could also begin working on a new, very unique idea he had recently.

It was well known that everyone’s genetic information was different.

It was impossible to find two people with exactly the same genetic information unless one was a clone of the other.

Only clones would have almost identical genes.

Even then, one still had to use the word ”almost.”

This was because if a clone suddenly encountered an unsuitable temperature during its growth and underwent a genetic mutation, then what?

Although the probability of genetic mutation was very, very low, one still had to be wary of it.

Therefore, when talking about clones, one could only describe their genes as being ”almost identical” for the sake of scientific rigor.

However, even if people’s genes were almost never the same, excluding clones, there were still distinctions.

A person’s race could lead to certain genetic differences, such as possessing certain genes that determined a specific skin color.

But two black people could also have a white child, which was a genetic change, though the probability of that was also very low.

In his previous life, Kenichi had known of a very special weapon that, for now, could only be found in books.

A genetic weapon.

Genetic weapons were not about turning people into Captain America, where everyone became strong and powerful.

Instead, they were designed to create a special weapon, such as a virus or bacteria, effective only against a specific race.

It would be harmless to people who did not carry that gene, but once the target gene was present, it would become a super weapon of mass destruction.

But the good news was that genetic weapons were only a concept, much like America’s proposed Project Thor.

That project had envisioned dropping tungsten rods from space to destroy a continent using kinetic energy.

This idea was later proven unreliable.

Tungsten rods dropped from space would not have such an impact on Earth, and their effect would be no different from dropping something from a high altitude.

Genetic weapons were the same.

Although there were indeed genetic differences between different races, with some races carrying specific genes, people’s dietary habits, different living environments, and even different water quality could subtly affect the genes of local people.

This made it extremely difficult to find almost perfectly identical genetic information within a specific race.

When one finally found it, one might discover that one’s own race also carried it.

This also meant that if this research succeeded, they themselves would be destroyed.

Thus, genetic weapons became a concept.

However, it could not be denied that humanity had always been full of enthusiasm for self-destruction.

So, while genetic weapons had been publicly abolished, whether they were being researched in secret was another question.

When Kenichi thought of this, he naturally thought of the Otsutsuki Clan, whose life level was almost completely different from humans.

Although the Otsutsuki Clan still looked somewhat human, whether it was Kaguya Otsutsuki, her sons, or the unlucky person Kaguya had ambushed, they all actually looked completely different from normal humans.

Kenichi had discovered in previous research that the more ancient the Otsutsuki Clan’s genes were, the greater the difference from human genes.

Madara’s and Sasuke’s genes also had significant differences compared to other Uchiha Clan members.

”So let me see, what differences will Black Zetsu’s genes have?”

Kenichi rubbed his hands excitedly.

Actually, Black Zetsu’s genes were not Kenichi’s first choice.

After all, Black Zetsu was a defective product temporarily born by Kaguya Otsutsuki before she was sealed, like a stepchild compared to his two older brothers.

But now, with the Sage of Six Paths in the Pure Land and the other one on the moon, the closest Otsutsuki Clan genes Kenichi could access were Black Zetsu’s.

If he could find genes in Black Zetsu that were perfectly identical to Madara and Sasuke, but not present in others, then Kenichi could try to create a unique genetic weapon specifically targeting the Otsutsuki Clan.

Kenichi had a deep-seated worry.

Black Zetsu’s previous indecisiveness had made Kenichi sense something unusual.

After all, Black Zetsu had always believed that no one in the Shinobi World knew his true identity.

But Kenichi not only knew, he also knew what Black Zetsu’s future would be like.

So when Kenichi saw Black Zetsu’s eyes at that time, he immediately sensed that something was wrong.

Afterward, he thought about it carefully.

He had also thought about it while conducting experiments during this period.

Then he came up with a possibility.

In the current Shinobi World, besides Kenichi himself, who could bring Black Zetsu such great trouble that it would make him so nervous, even to an exaggerated extent?

There was only one possibility.

Black Zetsu had sensed other members of the Otsutsuki Clan, which led to his hesitation.

Otherwise, Kenichi simply could not understand who else in the current Shinobi World could make Black Zetsu so nervous and so hesitant.

After all, Kenichi was very clear about his own position.

He was currently the biggest obstacle to the Eye of the Moon Plan.

If he were gone, then it would be Nagato.

But it was unlikely that Nagato could make Black Zetsu so hesitant, because Nagato was merely a pawn in Black Zetsu’s plan.

To make Black Zetsu anxious, the opponent had to have stepped off the chessboard, be capable of beating Black Zetsu soundly, and also be extremely threatening.

They had to be so threatening that even releasing Kaguya Otsutsuki might not guarantee victory.

Such an enemy, looking across the entire Shinobi World, would only be possible if the Sage of Six Paths himself jumped out of the Pure Land, or if there were other members of the Otsutsuki Clan.

Only they could make Black Zetsu that nervous.

”But are there other Otsutsuki in the Shinobi World?”

Kenichi scratched his head.

He had only watched Naruto.

He had not watched Boruto or anything after Naruto.

He had only heard memes like ”more hype than Boruto,” but he had never actually watched the plot.

If he had known he would transmigrate, he would have watched Naruto with a magnifying glass and then watched Boruto as well.

Now, he was completely in the dark about what was happening.

But looking at Black Zetsu, Kenichi really could not think of any other possibilities.

Anyway, no matter what happened, he would just assume the worst and think about what he should do if the Otsutsuki Clan was still in the Shinobi World.

He would deal with it when it came.

”Forget it. No matter what, let’s look at Black Zetsu’s genes first.”

Kenichi scratched his head, stopped thinking too much, and began to separate Black Zetsu’s genes.

This sample was something like skin flakes that Kenichi had scraped off Black Zetsu’s arm when Black Zetsu took Madara away, but he could not quite describe it.

Anyway, it was very strange.

Did Black Zetsu have skin?

Yes.

He could turn into a soft blob of mud, but also into something humanoid.

It was hard to say what Black Zetsu actually was.

But as long as Black Zetsu had genes, that was enough.

In this world, apart from things like rocks, almost all animals and plants had genes.

Even if the Otsutsuki Clan were in a vegetative state, Kenichi could extract genes from them.

Soon, dense genetic information popped up.

Kenichi pressed a button to start the comparison, then took a sip of tea.

He wanted to see whether Black Zetsu’s genes had any identical segments with Madara’s and Sasuke’s genes.

If they did, he could continue developing his idea.

The small thing he had extracted before, which he had named Pandora, might become the main carrier for this genetic weapon.
