Chapter 478: Orochimaru: I Want to Die

”Teacher, what’s wrong?”

Kenichi looked at Orochimaru in front of him.

Orochimaru seemed somewhat conflicted. There was even a subtle difficulty in speaking, which made Kenichi’s expression turn strange.

Could it be that after his teacher changed bodies, some strange physical reaction had begun to appear?

After all, Kenichi knew that a normal female body had its own biological cycles, but he quickly dismissed the thought.

Because Orochimaru had used Living Corpse Reincarnation to switch into Yuki’s body several years ago, and Kenichi did not think he would have failed to deal with that issue during all these years.

After all, Yuki had been a normal girl. Although her soul had been replaced, her body had not changed.

Of course, it could not be ruled out that Orochimaru had conducted some incredible research to remove that function.

”Kenichi, I remember you know a resurrection ninjutsu, right?”

Orochimaru looked at Kenichi, his vertical pupils carrying a trace of scrutiny and hesitation.

Kenichi was stunned for a moment when he heard this, then nodded.

He did indeed know a resurrection ninjutsu, One’s Own Life Reincarnation.

Kenichi had also tried researching other resurrection ninjutsu before, but currently, because his eyes had not yet become Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, his own resurrection ninjutsu was still only in the conceptual stage.

”I want to go die for a bit.”

Orochimaru revealed a faint, crazy smile.

Kenichi stared blankly at his teacher.

What did he mean, he wanted to ”go die for a bit”?

”Teacher, do you mean you want to research the Pure Land yourself?”

Kenichi looked at Orochimaru with a strange gaze.

He was not surprised that his teacher had this idea. It did seem like something Orochimaru would do.

But Kenichi felt that it was a bit unnecessary.

He had no plans to research the Pure Land for now, because Amado Sanzu had already researched it before.

But Amado could not research anything.

Or rather, he had researched something, but then he had immediately been taken over by the Sage of Six Paths, who had then subtly threatened Orochimaru and Kenichi.

Later, Amado had been resurrected, but he did not remember much about the Pure Land.

His memory had directly suffered problems.

The Sage of Six Paths likely had significant schemes in the Pure Land.

Kenichi even suspected that the Sage of Six Paths might be preserving his full strength there.

”Yes, and no.”

Orochimaru rarely sighed.

He silently looked into the distance, his eyes somewhat obscure.

Kenichi became a little interested.

He understood his teacher’s personality very well.

For Orochimaru, as long as there was endless knowledge and ninjutsu to pursue in this world, then the world was full of color.

So, seeing Orochimaru sigh like this now was quite out of character.

What exactly had happened to his teacher?

However, in the end, Orochimaru did not say why he wanted to die, nor did he say what his purpose was in going to the Pure Land.

This made Kenichi feel as if a million ants were crawling through his heart.

His curiosity was almost uncontrollable.

But since his teacher would not say, he could not do anything about it.

”These two, both of them are riddle masters.”

Kenichi watched his teacher’s departing back and clenched his fists.

His teacher was like this, and Black Zetsu was the same.

They clearly had something to say, but they just refused to say it, making Kenichi feel incredibly uncomfortable.

”Could it be that Teacher discovered he had developed some strange emotional impulse? Or did he realize something in his current body was affecting his mind? Is that why he’s so angry that he wants to go to the Pure Land and fight the Sage of Six Paths?”

Kenichi maliciously speculated.

But in the end, it was only a guess.

As for what exactly had happened to his teacher, he still did not know.

Riddle masters, get out of the Land of Lightning!

—

”Hehehe, I didn’t expect you to know resurrection ninjutsu.”

Black Zetsu’s eerie, strange laugh came from nearby.

Kenichi could not help rolling his eyes.

When did this guy arrive?

He still had not noticed anything.

Neither had his teacher.

It had to be said that Black Zetsu was truly annoying.

Kenichi knew without asking that his conversation with Orochimaru just now had been overheard by Black Zetsu.

Fortunately, he had not said anything else at the time.

It seemed he would have to be more careful when speaking in the future, preferably communicating on an airship.

”I do know some. Are you planning to resurrect your main body, Uchiha Madara?”

Kenichi asked Black Zetsu with a smile.

Black Zetsu did not seem surprised to hear this.

Instead, he let out a strange giggle.

However, he did have some thoughts in his mind.

After all, if Kenichi really knew resurrection ninjutsu, then perhaps Madara could be resurrected without the Rinnegan.

And a resurrected Madara...

”Forget it. Now is not the time.”

Black Zetsu shook his head.

Now was not a very good time to resurrect Madara.

After all, if Madara were resurrected now, then when he went to investigate that base, some unforeseen circumstances might occur.

An Edo Tensei Madara had almost infinite chakra.

In such a situation, Madara could freely expend ninjutsu without worrying about life or death.

Kenichi raised an eyebrow.

If now was not the right time, then when did Black Zetsu consider the best time?

Kenichi took a deep look at Black Zetsu.

He now increasingly felt that Black Zetsu was hiding something important from him.

But never mind.

That was not the main point now.

”Then did you bring Madara’s body tissue? You know that using Edo Tensei requires a sacrifice, right?”

Kenichi asked Black Zetsu.

He knew this step was Black Zetsu’s way of testing whether he was truly cooperating.

If Kenichi kept dragging his feet and was unwilling to resurrect Madara, Black Zetsu might have some other fallback plans.

He was not sure.

”Hehe, of course. I’ve already brought you the sacrifice, and I’ve also found the body tissue of my main body.”

Black Zetsu chuckled strangely, then took out a finger from his body and handed it to Kenichi.

Kenichi raised an eyebrow after taking it.

He did not say anything, but Black Zetsu knew what he meant.

Kenichi was asking him for a sacrifice.

This made Black Zetsu want to complain a little.

Could Kenichi not get something like a sacrifice himself?

However, although Black Zetsu was a little displeased, he was cooperating with Kenichi now, so he ultimately held back.

Then, Kenichi saw a White Zetsu emerge from Black Zetsu’s body.

That White Zetsu looked dull and unintelligent.

Black Zetsu made the White Zetsu walk to Kenichi’s side, then chuckled strangely and told him that this was the sacrifice he had prepared.

”How strong is this thing? You should know that the strength of a person revived through Edo Tensei is somewhat connected to the strength of the sacrifice itself. If you only provide a genin, then your main body won’t be very strong after being revived through Edo Tensei.”

Kenichi looked at the White Zetsu in front of him.

He knew of the existence of White Zetsu, but he had to admit that seeing one emerge from Black Zetsu’s body was still a bit unsettling.

”Don’t worry. This sacrifice has the strength of a powerful ninja.”

Black Zetsu spoke in a strange tone.

Then he quietly watched Kenichi, wanting to see what Kenichi planned to do.

Kenichi glanced at Black Zetsu and said nothing more.

Instead, he picked up Madara’s finger and immediately began performing Edo Tensei.

Throughout the entire process, Kenichi’s movements were very natural.

Then the face of Edo Tensei Madara slowly began to emerge.

But then Kenichi frowned slightly, because he discovered that Madara’s face had not fully appeared.

This proved that the current Edo Tensei Madara could not be reincarnated.

In other words, an Edo Tensei Madara already existed in this world, which had caused this situation.

Kenichi could not help glancing at Black Zetsu again.

Sure enough, this guy had backup plans.

Black Zetsu did not show any embarrassment when he saw Kenichi looking at him.

He merely chuckled.

Then Kenichi discovered that Madara’s face had completely appeared.

”Oh, perhaps there are also delays in Edo Tensei from the Pure Land.”

Black Zetsu smiled.

Kenichi also smiled.

Of course, he did not believe Black Zetsu’s words.

But since they were nominally cooperating, he did not say anything and continued completing the Edo Tensei ninjutsu.

It was not until the final step, where the coffin needed to be summoned, that Black Zetsu interrupted Kenichi’s operation.

He smiled and embraced the coffin.

”That’s enough for now. My main body still has some things to deal with, so we’ll see each other later.”

Black Zetsu nodded in satisfaction.

Then, without him making any visible move, the coffin disappeared.

Kenichi glanced at Black Zetsu, but did not say anything more.

He simply watched Black Zetsu disappear from his sight.

Then Kenichi also left.

He planned to go see what had happened to his teacher.

—

”...So, even the Land of Lightning has become that guy’s territory now?”

In Iwagakure, Onoki sat on a sickbed, calmly looking into the distance.

His eyes showed no discernible sadness, anger, or any other emotion.

But all the ninja present silently lowered their heads.

In this war, the Iwagakure ninja led by Onoki had been almost completely wiped out.

Even Kitsuchi had not returned.

The only one who returned was Kurotsuchi.

But after Kurotsuchi returned, she had become silent and melancholic. Even when Iwagakure’s Elder Council went to see her, she did not say a word.

And now, even Onoki was severely wounded.

For a while, all the ninja present did not know what to do.

”What do you all think?”

Onoki looked toward a corner of the sickroom.

Three people stood there.

They were Iwagakure’s Elder Council.

In Iwagakure, besides him, the Tsuchikage, these three held the highest authority.

The three elders exchanged glances, but they said nothing.

Silence continued to echo through the luxurious sickroom.

After seeing this, Onoki seemed to understand something.

He could not help sighing.

He wanted to say something, but then he thought of the ninja who had left the village with him and never returned.

”What about Kumogakure? What about Kumogakure’s ninja? And the Fourth Raikage, A?”

He could not help asking.

If even Kumogakure had completely surrendered to that man, then Iwagakure seemed to have no other choice.

”Tsuchikage-sama, according to intelligence, Kumogakure’s ninja have now left the Land of Lightning. They are currently beside Konoha in the Land of Fire, and they have already contacted us by letter.”

An ANBU ninja respectfully answered Onoki’s question.

Onoki closed his eyes after hearing this.

He now roughly understood the situation the village was in.

But thinking about it made Onoki feel somewhat irritated.

After all, everyone, everyone in the village, was waiting for his choice.

And his choice might even determine the survival of the village.

Could the shattered Kumogakure and Konoha, plus Iwagakure, truly defeat the army led by that man?

Onoki hesitated.

It was known that even Onoki would find the Five-Tails Jinchuriki troublesome when he fully unleashed his Tailed Beast form.

But according to the battle situation at the time, the Five-Tails seemed to have been annihilated on the battlefield without any resistance.

This showed just how powerful the ninja led by that man were.

”What about Sunagakure? Is there any intelligence from their side?”

Onoki’s heart was somewhat indecisive.

Kumogakure had fled to Konoha, so their intentions were very clear.

Onoki still needed to consider whether Iwagakure should cooperate again and fight that man.

”Sunagakure’s ninja seem to be electing a new Kazekage now.”

The ANBU ninja was silent for a moment, then answered the question.

However, they did not know much about Sunagakure’s current situation.

Sunagakure seemed to have closed itself off.

The only intelligence they had was that they were electing a Kazekage.
