Chapter 482: Orochimaru’s Mangekyo Ability Is...

”All these changes should originate from the Sage of Six Paths.”

Orochimaru narrowed his eyes, looking at himself in the mirror. He stroked his cheeks with both hands, anger mixed into his gaze.

Ever since Amado had been revived through Edo Tensei and tried to reveal the secret of the Pure Land, only to be stopped, certain problems had begun to appear.

Although Orochimaru had already been quite used to living in this body, it had never been to the current extent.

Now, Orochimaru suspected that the Sage of Six Paths had done something to him the moment he appeared.

Because all these changes had happened after the Sage of Six Paths appeared.

Before that, his body had never carried this kind of discomfort.

So Orochimaru was very certain that this had to be caused by the Sage of Six Paths.

The other party was in the Pure Land.

Perhaps he had done something to Orochimaru’s soul, making his soul more compatible with this body.

If so, that would explain why Orochimaru had become like this.

But the Sage of Six Paths had clearly not done anything at the time.

So how had Orochimaru fallen victim?

”Soul research really is troublesome.”

Orochimaru touched his body, and the Mangekyo appeared in his eyes, slowly rotating.

Immediately afterward, Orochimaru used his Mangekyo ability on himself.

The Mangekyo was an eye that ultimately reflected one’s inner aspirations.

It could perfectly display a person’s deepest desires.

And for Orochimaru, who pursued all the ninjutsu and knowledge in this world and also held a slight pursuit of immortality, the ability of his awakened Mangekyo Sharingan was...

With the use of his eye technique, Orochimaru saw his soul within his current body.

Then his expression turned grim.

Because he discovered that his soul had indeed changed at this moment.

His soul now seemed to have long flowing hair, and its figure was becoming more and more similar to this body.

”By rights, the soul is something inherent to a person, something almost impossible to change. So why does my soul seem to be adapting to this body?”

Orochimaru’s face did not look good.

He already had the idea of changing to another body.

But the problem was that finding a perfectly compatible body was not easy.

If it was not a perfectly compatible body, then using Living Corpse Reincarnation would cause wear and tear on the soul.

Once or twice might not be a problem.

But if it happened too many times and the soul was severely worn down, then major problems would arise.

This also made Orochimaru somewhat hesitant.

His other Mangekyo eye also used an eye technique, but he could not see anything.

On this body, he could only see traces left behind by Living Corpse Reincarnation.

Nothing else.

”Indeed, even with my Mangekyo eye technique, I still can’t see the methods employed by the Sage of Six Paths.”

The thought of dying and going to the Pure Land to verify this with the Sage of Six Paths grew stronger in Orochimaru’s mind.

But Amado did not seem to have met the Sage of Six Paths in the Pure Land at that time.

This meant that if an existence like the Sage of Six Paths did not take the initiative to appear, he could not be found.

It also meant that if Orochimaru died and then could not find the Sage of Six Paths in the Pure Land, then his trip to the Pure Land would become meaningless.

Moreover, although his student Kenichi possessed a resurrection ninjutsu, Orochimaru did not know whether it would revive this body or his original self.

”What a pity.”

Orochimaru sighed.

He knew that the Sage of Six Paths might have used some ninjutsu to affect him.

But he could not find any trace of it, and he could not even verify the idea.

That was a real shame for Orochimaru.

Orochimaru fell into deep thought.

He wanted to solve this problem, but soul-related ninjutsu were often highly threatening.

He recalled that back in Konoha, Tsunade’s former lover, Dan Kato, had mastered the Spirit Transformation Jutsu.

However, that ninjutsu was extremely difficult to learn, and almost no one practiced it besides Dan.

That was why it had been classified as a forbidden jutsu.

Even Orochimaru himself had to be careful if he wanted to act on his own soul.

”I wonder what Kenichi is doing?”

Orochimaru thought of his student.

This student of his had some peculiar ideas in both ninjutsu and science.

It was hard to say whether he would have other opinions on this matter.

However, whether to tell Kenichi was also where Orochimaru hesitated.

He had seen many cases of disciples harming their teachers.

Even Orochimaru himself had once thought of killing his teacher, Hiruzen Sarutobi.

So being a teacher in the Shinobi World was a high-risk profession.

Kenichi did not know what his teacher was struggling with.

If he knew, he would probably be very happy.

After all, his teacher’s guess was correct.

Kenichi did have some other ideas about his teacher, but this idea was purely scientific curiosity.

Kenichi really wanted to prove whether ”the influence of body on soul is bidirectional” and whether ”the soul is changeable.”

However, Kenichi was currently unaware of this.

Right now, he was wholeheartedly researching with Amado how to convert chakra into a new energy source that could be used in the Shinobi World.

”Mr. Amado, although this metal does have the characteristic of being able to store chakra, the problem is its price. That means it doesn’t have value for widespread use.”

Kenichi looked at the small box in his hand.

It stored a large amount of chakra.

To a certain extent, this thing could indeed store chakra.

But it could not be used to popularize chakra energy.

Just as gold had good conductivity, yet gold had not been widely used as a conductive material because it was expensive.

Compared to gold, copper was more cost-effective and had better conductivity.

For Kenichi, if he wanted to promote chakra as a new energy source in the Shinobi World, then he would undoubtedly have to bring the price down.

Otherwise, it would be impossible to popularize.

”Hmm, but we can study how chakra is stored in this metal, then try to find other materials with the same properties. That might reduce costs.”

Amado nodded while observing the metal under a microscope.

Kenichi thought for a moment and felt that what Amado said was indeed correct.

After all, everything was difficult at the beginning.

Sometimes, once the first step was taken, the following work became simpler.

”But this metal...”

Kenichi thought of something interesting.

He remembered that Kisame of the Akatsuki had a very special biological weapon called Samehada.

That thing could tear away an enemy’s chakra, then devour and store it.

It could also feed chakra back to the user, making it especially powerful.

But unlike the metal in front of him, Samehada was a living creature.

”Mr. Amado, I thought of something interesting. It might help us accelerate our research efficiency in converting chakra into energy.”

Kenichi revealed a strange smile.

Samehada was a living creature, so it had its own emotions and preferences.

Kenichi remembered that during the battle with Killer Bee of the Eight-Tails, little Samehada had fallen in love with the Eight-Tails’ chakra.

In the end, it became Killer Bee’s weapon, which could be considered a betrayal of its original owner, Kisame.

”Oh? What is it?”

Amado looked at Kenichi curiously.

Kenichi waved his hand, then hurried out.

Little Samehada preferred high-quality chakra.

Although it could eat any chakra and would eat it, it was obvious that if a person had a choice between a plain steamed bun and a luxurious feast, most people would choose the luxurious feast, assuming they had a choice.

In the Shinobi World, Tailed Beast chakra was indeed very high quality.

The only chakra that could be of higher quality than Killer Bee’s Eight-Tails chakra was probably the Nine-Tails’ chakra.

Therefore, whether Kisame faced Naruto or Killer Bee, Samehada would ultimately be taken from him.

However, such a thing would naturally not happen now.

Kenichi quickly contacted Nagato, and Nagato immediately informed Kisame.

Kisame was already on his way.

”Amamiya, my eyes. Do you really think...”

At this moment, Nagato hesitated as he looked at Kenichi and asked tentatively.

Nagato valued his Rinnegan greatly.

After all, these eyes had accompanied him for far too long and had helped him greatly.

Without these eyes, he would not have had the chance to avenge Yahiko after Yahiko’s death.

However, Kenichi was now his partner.

Nagato had also seen the hope of achieving peace in the Shinobi World through Kenichi.

Because of that, Nagato now also placed great importance on the opinion of his partner, Kenichi.

Although he still felt Kenichi’s statement was a bit outrageous.

After all, these were his eyes.

How could they have been given to him by someone else?

But after hesitating for a few days, Nagato still felt that if these eyes truly affected the peace and unification of the Shinobi World, then he would be willing to give up these Sage’s eyes.

He only wanted to fulfill Yahiko’s wish and his friend’s dying will.

As for what sacrifices had to be made during the process, he did not care.

Kenichi glanced at Nagato.

He was still in the space formed by the Astral Projection Technique at the moment, so there was no need to worry about Black Zetsu eavesdropping on their conversation.

”You don’t need to for now, but you must ensure your protection. It would be best if you could come to the Land of Flame with Kisame. I’ll stay with you. That would be the safest.”

Kenichi spoke seriously to Nagato.

Nagato’s eyes were very important.

They were related to Madara’s Eye of the Moon Plan.

However, Kenichi had now established a false cooperative relationship with Black Zetsu.

At least for a certain period of time, there was no need to worry about Black Zetsu harming him.

However, since Black Zetsu had used Edo Tensei on a stronger Madara, it was really hard to say what he intended for Madara to do.

Kenichi made a simple deduction in his mind.

If he first assumed that Black Zetsu had truly discovered the existence of other Otsutsuki Clan members in this world, and also discovered that they might pose a threat to him and the Eye of the Moon Plan, which was why he had deliberately concealed this matter from Kenichi, then Black Zetsu’s Edo Tensei of Madara had to be for the purpose of having Madara test those Otsutsuki Clan members.

So the question arose.

Would an Edo Tensei Madara with the Mangekyo Sharingan, but without the Rinnegan, be a match for the Otsutsuki Clan?

If so, that would naturally be better.

Black Zetsu could then wait for the Three-Tails and Five-Tails to revive, thereby urging Kenichi to complete the Eye of the Moon Plan.

But what if Madara was not their opponent?

In such a situation, Kenichi knew very well that there were only two things Black Zetsu could do.

The first was naturally to contact him and have Kenichi and Madara cooperate to deal with that Otsutsuki enemy.

The second was to make Madara stronger and more complete.

That meant resurrected Madara plus his Rinnegan.

Then Black Zetsu would inevitably make Madara retrieve his Rinnegan, and Nagato would be in trouble.

Although Kenichi admitted that Nagato was very strong with the boost of the Rinnegan, surpassing ordinary Kage-level powerhouses, it still depended on the situation.

Facing Black Zetsu, who could ambush and might possess certain powerful control abilities, and Madara, the original owner of the Rinnegan, Kenichi believed Nagato would certainly fail.

Then Konan would also die.

”Is it necessary?”

Nagato was somewhat puzzled.

He possessed the Rinnegan.

How many people in this world could confidently say they could easily defeat him?

”Yes.”

Kenichi nodded seriously.

Considering Madara’s personality, if his battle with the Otsutsuki Clan failed, he would definitely reclaim the Rinnegan in order to deal with the Otsutsuki Clan in his strongest form.

Therefore, it was almost certain that Nagato’s Rinnegan would be taken away.

Nagato was silent for a while.

Then he nodded and ended the Astral Projection Technique.

”You mean Amamiya Kenichi is already cooperating with me?”

Madara stretched his neck.

The feeling of power from this body was stronger.

If he were to fight now, he could unleash power closer to what he had possessed in life.

”Yes, Lord Madara. During the execution of the plan, I discovered a problem.”

Black Zetsu was unusually serious.

Madara did not pay too much attention to it.

He simply quietly watched the incarnation of his will, waiting for Black Zetsu to state the problem he had discovered.

”I found a specially concealed underground base in a certain area of Amegakure...”

Black Zetsu’s tone was very serious.

That was Amegakure.

The Akatsuki was there.

But even the Akatsuki had never detected anything unusual.

”Oh? The Akatsuki didn’t notice?”

Madara became a little interested.
