Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 764: Chapter 763: Who’s-Who’s New Stage

Before the Hundred Beasts became renowned, accumulating battle achievements was an easy task, but as their reputation grew, gathering achievements became increasingly difficult.

There were too many people eyeing this opportunity.

Now, in the era of the Four Emperors’ territorial divide, with Shanks joining in, the struggles in the New World have temporarily paused, entering a short period of balance. Major conflicts are hard to occur before this balance is broken.

Although newcomers are gradually increasing, the members of the Hundred Beasts are also expanding, and those stationed in the outer seas have their eyes on these guys.

So, Who’s-Who decided to take a different approach; at this moment, he was observing the retired old pirates on Ghost Island.

Having worked in CP9 for a long time, he had encountered plenty of pirates, but this was the first time he saw a pirate crew with a retirement system.

Not just pirates, even in the CP Mechanism, retirement is nearly impossible. Their agents know too many secrets.

You either strive to climb up and transform from a frontline agent to a big shot in the office, or you fight on the front lines until the day of your death.

Moreover, the active agents have undergone the World Government’s brainwashing education, and the concept of retirement doesn’t exist in their thinking. Rob Lucci is a prime example; though nearly silenced by the World Government, they eventually returned and became their best tool.

At the moment, he was observing the living conditions of people in Kuri and had already recorded quite a bit of data.

”Hafat, 79 years old, an early member of the Hundred Beasts Pirates, lost a leg in battle. Due to ordinary combat prowess, he remained in Wano Kuni, serving as a recycling station owner... How is this like a pirate crew?”

Watching the old man sunning himself in a rocking chair, with a Jumpluff floating over his head, Who’s-Who shook his head and silently left. After his serious survey, he found that the treatment here was genuinely good.

At least the successfully retired pirates had places to go. This was the kind of life Mandfeish longed for. However, ordinary pirates, even with seniority, could only get some idle positions within Wano Kuni or serve as security guards on other islands upon retirement.

This severely didn’t match Mandfeish’s expectations of life.

Then, Who’s-Who went to the church and took on a new role during this time—the invincible physical education teacher, responsible for training the orphans there.

Finding Plates or Poneglyphs, acquiring rare Mythical Fruit, these are significant achievements among the Hundred Beasts, but each is harder to find than the last, so Who’s-Who temporarily turned to what he was more adept at.

His background meant he held knowledge unknown to many, such as the training methods of Rokushiki.

Rokushiki training requires high physical conditions, and even the World Government employs special methods to enhance nutrition. That training island holds some little secrets.

And the Hundred Beasts’ ingredients produced through various Pokemon could address this issue, although it made him a thorn in the World Government’s side, but he was long on their death list and didn’t care anymore.

He hadn’t proposed this before because, in fact, Rokushiki was somewhat redundant.

As a skill legacy of the World Government and the Navy, its usefulness was undeniable, yet it wasn’t something one could learn on a whim; a foundation must be built from a young age to master it smoothly in the future.

Those with sufficient talent could bypass this step, but it wasn’t necessary. For example, Jack, if he wanted to learn, even without a foundation, his physique would support the training.

However, his strong Armament made Tekkai and Kami-e unnecessary for him. A defensive warrior like him didn’t need Soru for movement, nor did he find Finger Gun and Rankyaku useful in his attack techniques. As for Moonwalk... his natural jumping abilities allowed for brief aerial suspension, so it was equally redundant.

At their level, they all had formidable control over their bodies, making the derivative technique Life Return redundant as well.

Even without deliberate study, they had significant body control, and this was the case even for Jack, the heavily biased defensive warrior.

The other higher-ranking officers had even less need, and many of them created their techniques similar to Rokushiki through self-training.

Those who could quickly master Rokushiki didn’t need it to enhance their prowess, while those who needed it for a power boost couldn’t learn it immediately, leading to this predicament.

Until a new batch of orphans reached maturity, Misu suggested the church train a group of guardians to protect the gods, giving Who’s-Who an opportunity to become the martial arts instructor here.

After all, Rokushiki is the most systematic teaching, making it perfectly suitable for these half-grown kids.

”Everyone, stand straight! Core strength is fundamental; if you can’t endure these, how will you protect the glory of the Lord!”

It wasn’t Who’s-Who giving the lecture, but Misu, showcasing rare strictness and training alongside the children, despite Who’s-Who clearly stating that, given her age and physical condition, it’s hard to see results, but she didn’t give up.

Thus, Who’s-Who temporarily began working behind the scenes, observing the pirates’ lives in Wano Kuni, training the church-adopted children, and occasionally training some offspring of the Hundred Beasts’ members, leading a rather eventless life.

But it wasn’t long before he found an opportunity to showcase his skills.

After Yamato and her group returned from Charlotte Linlin’s wedding ceremony, they recounted the event to Kaidou, who was delighted at the mention of Charlotte Linlin’s embarrassment. Then Yamato raised a concern.

She speculated that there could be spies sent by enemies within the Hundred Beasts and suggested a preemptive clean-up to prevent sabotage at inopportune moments.

Queen fully supported her suggestion, finding it to be one of Yamato’s most brilliant ideas.

Kaidou wasn’t particularly concerned about such matters, considering Wano Kuni’s geography and political climate, the possibility of spies blending in was minimal. For other territories, he couldn’t be bothered with trivial matters, but since Yamato suggested, he allowed her to proceed.

After all, she seldom proposed valuable ideas, and this time he ought to support her.

Soon, a problem arose. Though Yamato suggested this, she had no idea how to identify the spies.

Thus, when she was forming an investigation team, Who’s-Who volunteered himself.

Regardless of anything else, he was an agent by background and a top agent from the World Government. In counterintelligence, he was an expert.

Moreover, with some luck, if he encountered a few former colleagues, it would be a delivered achievement. Currently, he was undoubtedly the Hundred Beasts Pirates’ expert in this field.
